Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he was "delighted" with his side's performance despite a first Premier League defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss at Chelsea on Saturday.

City dominated possession early on at Stamford Bridge, but could not find a way through a well-organised Chelsea defence and were hit on the break just before halftime as N'Golo Kante netted Chelsea's first shot at goal.

There was concern for De Bruyne after the City midfielder limped off with what appeared to be a knee injury in the closing minutes.

Manchester City's Spanish manager Pep Guardiola says it would be impossible for him to ever coach another team in England and says he is now a Mancunian for life.

Guardiola, who led City to the Premier League title last season with a record points tally of 100, signed a contract extension with the champions earlier this year that will take him to the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

One of the most successful managers in world football, Guardiola has been known to keep his coaching stints brief, spending four years at Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich.

However, even if he ended his stay at City after five years in 2021, he said he could not envisage one day managing a Premier League rival.

"I will be Mancunian for rest of my life. I will (always) be a Manchester City fan, it would not be possible to train another team in England like Manchester City," Guardiola said in an interview with BBC Radio 5Live.

"I feel beloved from the people here... I want to make a better club to make them believe we are strong enough to do better things."

The 47-year-old won 14 trophies as Barcelona coach and seven while at Bayern, but said that a less intrusive media landscape made it easier to settle as a manager in England.

"I understand why in England you can stay at a club for 20 years in one place," Guardiola, who also claimed the League Cup for City last season, added.

"Here during the week I don't see the journalists and for example we had maybe some problems in the locker room, sometimes we have to be tough with players -- but nothing goes out. Just a few times.

"When a guy comes here and is injured for seven months or arrives here and plays two or three games and after one month is injured it's always a problem.&nbsp;

"It's always a problem to be involved in the way we want to play and the meetings and correcting mistakes. That's why it's so important. Hopefully this injury can be the last."

The situation between Guardiola and Mendy appears nowhere near as combustible as the clash of the egos between Mourinho and Pogba.

It means the 24-year-old is the league`s most accurate goalkeeper by a comfortable distance.

Ederson has also made some crucial saves, such as the last-gasp penalty stop at Crystal Palace in December, as well making a significant improvement in the save percentage department -- contributions that can make all the difference in a title race.

"He is young and has to improve a lot of things, but he is, for me, already one of the best in the world," Guardiola said recently.
