Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has courted another controversy by urging the international community to recognise the Taliban. Khan said the terror outfit currently ruling over Afghanistan will not respect human rights as well as women's right to education until the international community accepts it.

“If you isolate them [Taliban], what influence are you going to have on them? If you mainstream and let them have a state, then talk about human rights. Right now, you push them into isolation; their money is frozen, so why would they listen to anyone?" Khan was quoted as saying by Khaama Press.

“My advice is to get them involved, give them a stake in the international community so that when you tell them to have girls educated, they will listen to you; right now, they are not.”

Ever since Taliban gained control over Afghanistan, the human rights in the country have gone for a toss. The women students have been barred from attending schools and universities and it looks highly unlikely if they will be allowed back anytime soon.

Notably, this is not the first instance where Khan has come across as a Taliban apologist. As the PM, speaking at the 17th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2021, Khan said the Taliban's culture is comparable to that of Peshawar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where parents were paid stipends to send their daughters to school, but they were not sent to school.

During one of his United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) speech, Khan took a similar line and acted in favour of the Taliban.

"We must strengthen the present government, stabilise it for the sake of the people of Afghanistan. What have the Taliban promised? They will respect human rights, they will have an inclusive government, they will not allow the soil to be used by terrorists and they have given amnesty. If the world community incentivises them, encourages them to walk the talk, it will be a win-win situation for everyone," said Khan at the time.

Pakistan is going through an unreal economic ordeal. Fresh readings issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) show that yearly short-term inflation rose by 46.65 per cent during the week that ended on March 22 — the highest recorded in the country's history. Rising food prices contributed immensely to the record rise in numbers, the agency reported. The yearly short-term inflation stood at 45.64 per cent last week but the increase in the price of 26 essential items led to the recent spike. Wheat flour, tomatoes, potatoes, tea, sugar, pulses, bananas and jaggery were some of the food items that witnessed a major uptick in prices. Despite the price of items such as cooking oil, and LPG declining, it had a negligible effect on the overall inflation figures. Those having monthly income of more than PKR 44,176 were the hardest hit as the yearly inflation rate for them stood at 48.35 per cent, the statistics showed. ALSO READ: Moody's downgrades Pakistan's credit rating to the lowest in three decades If the food and gas prices continue to increase, Pakistan's import-based economy may not be able to handle the devaluation of its local currency. The country is already on the verge of defaulting on $80 billion of international loan repayments while having only $3 billion in forex exchange reserves. WATCH | Is Pakistan's economic crisis getting worse? × Earlier this month, global credit rating agency Moody's downgraded Pakistan's local and foreign currency credit ratings from Caa1 to Caa3. The rating is expected to hurt the position of the Pakistani government which is currently involved in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to secure a $1 billion bailout package. To secure IMF funding, the Pakistani government has implemented new tax measures as suggested by the global body. However, citizens are wary that conceding to all demands of the IMF may lead to a further spurt in prices which the public will not be able to afford anymore. Islamabad's problems have been compounded by the fact that Saudi Arabia, one of its biggest benefactors has decided to not provide easy financial bailout or interest-free loans. There is not a single sector of economy, political activity or social life in PoJK-GB that has not suffered at the hands of the occupying Pakistan military and the state of Pakistan.

Recently, a long march was conducted by youths of PoJK from Rawalakot to Titrinote crossing point on the Line of Control. While speeches were being delivered against Pakistani occupation and their Jihadi proxies, three men jumped onto the stage and snatched the microphone from the speaker.

They then fled the scene firing shots from pistols and warning of serious consequences if the protest continued to target Pakistan of Jihadi organisations. The organiser of the event say that the attackers were from a local Jihadi outfit.

This is testimony to the fact that Pakistan will use its Jihadi proxies in PoJK-GB to counter attempts by the locals to fight Pakistani occupation.

It also shows that Pakistan has a well-structured Jihadi network in all major cities of PoJK-GB that are acting as a fascist force to tackle any local movement that raises the desire to rejoin Mother India.

However, it will not be an easy task for Pakistan to succeed in its vicious design. The reason is simple. National question in both PoJK-GB is a burning issue in the context of both territories being occupied by Pakistan.

Religion will play no role to dilute the struggle for reunification of these territories with Mother India. The creation of Bangladesh is testimony to the fact that national liberation sentiment is by far stronger than religious sentiment.

Therefore, clashes between Jihadist and nationalist seems imminent leading to Civil War in all parts of the PoJK-GB. Once this happens, Pakistan will be truly engulfed in a multi-front Civil War further leading towards the disintegration of the state.

The ongoing militancy in Khyber Paktoonkhawa, Sindh, Balochistan and the unrest in PoJK-GB is an indication of non-resolvable political, economic and above all nationalistic contradictions that can only be resolved by the liberation of all oppressed nations living under the occupation of the state of Pakistan and its armies.

The disintegration of Pakistan as a state and the break-up of its military power will lead to the dismantling of the terrorist industry, thriving at the moment, and bring peace to the region and the rest of the world.

Pakistan on Tuesday (March 21) approved a supplementary grant of around $330K to prevent an impending default on account of diesel purchase payments to Kuwait, owing to the nation's efforts to keep total spending within the limits agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The cabinet's Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), which also approved the supplementary grant to pay for the diesel, granted an additional $35K to partly offset the wheat shortage in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The two decisions made by the cabinet body highlight the severe fiscal challenges the administration is facing in trying to avert a default in one area without jeopardising others, reported Express Tribune.

Sources in the finance ministry told the Express Tribune that the accountant general of Pakistan revenue (AGPR) was verbally told to postpone the clearance of some non-salary invoices for a few weeks in order to free up some cash flow.

In a handout from the finance ministry, it was stated that the Petroleum Division had provided a summary of the credit facility provided by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) against the supply of diesel under a contract with the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) since 2000 to the ECC.

It was also said that the term contract had an annual extension and that the deal had already expired in December.

“In the current situation, this account has witnessed huge exchange losses due to upheaval in the rupee-dollar parity during the last 12 months,” the finance ministry’s statement read.

“Considering the above situation, the ECC approved an immediate technical supplementary grant of Rs 27 billion (US$330K) for [the] Kuwait Petroleum Company,” it added.

As part of an agreement with the IMF, Pakistan is required to reduce spending by the same amount as a supplemental grant or impose additional taxes equal to that amount.

A committee was formed by the ECC to make suggestions for resolving claims for foreign exchange losses incurred as a result of the KPC credit facility, the FE-25 loan guarantee, and Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) funding that the PSO had used to finance imports.

Pakistan on Tuesday (March 21) approved a supplementary grant of around $330K to prevent an impending default on account of diesel purchase payments to Kuwait, owing to the nation's efforts to keep total spending within the limits agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

A committee was formed by the ECC to make suggestions for resolving claims for foreign exchange losses incurred as a result of the KPC credit facility, the FE-25 loan guarantee, and Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) funding that the PSO had used to finance imports.
