<p>The Congress MLA, further reacting to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's contentious "not in favour of war" remark, said that if the government was ready for war, then it should be done.</p>
<p>Speaking to the media, Waddetiwar said, "All this is to divert people's attention. He (CM Siddaramaiah) said there should be no war with Pakistan, but if the government is ready for war, then do it... "You (government) talk about stopping Pakistan's water. It will take 20 years to do so...."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier, Karnataka CM Siddaramiah came under fire for his comments stating that he was not in favour of war with Pakistan, citing "security lapse" in the Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 people.</p>
<p>"There has been a security lapse in this incident. We are not in favour of war. Steps should be taken to tighten security measures in the Kashmir region. The central government should increase security to ensure peace in Kashmir," he said on Saturday (Apr 26).</p>
<p>He later clarified his stance, emphasising that his "not in favour of war" statement "never meant that we should not go to war".&nbsp;</p>
<p>"I said that it (war) is inevitable, but it must be done with Pakistan, but I did not say that there should be no war. It is the responsibility of the central government to provide security, 26 people died in the incident... I said there should not be a war immediately..." Siddaramiah said.</p>

When we landed and switched our phones on, we were flooded with messages inquiring about our safety. Initially, the news was only a couple of injuries. We thought it was responsible to inform our well-wishers that we were safe, and in the same breath, I mentioned the vlog &mdash; but without any intention of promoting it.&rdquo;</p>
<p>He added, &ldquo;Maine ek story daal di that we are fine and we will update you. Uss story ka jo bawaal banaya hai&hellip; kai logo ne, kuch media portals ne, aur kuch YouTube channels ne. Atul travelled to Pahalgram just days after the attack and sai,d &ldquo;Kashmir humara hai (Kashmir is ours)&rdquo; and we shouldn&rsquo;t be cancelling our plans to visit Kashmir because of the attack.&nbsp;</p>
<h2><strong>Atul Kulkarni: 'Don't cancel your vacations'</strong></h2>
<p>Speaking to BBC News Hindi while on his way to Pahalgam, Atul said that with the attack, terrorists gave a message asking people not to visit Kashmir. Atul also asked people not to cancel their travel plans to Kashmir.</p>
<p>Speaking about the attack which led to innocents losing their lives, Atul said, &ldquo;What happened on the 22nd was a very tragic incident; this should not have happened. When I read about it, I thought that every time something like this happened, what would we do? We post on social media, we talk to friends, we write something, but then I thought, what can I actually do in real action? I read that 90% of the bookings here had been cancelled, even though it's peak season. We need to support Kashmiriyat and the Kashmiri people.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Talking about the tourism of Kashmir, Atul said it's our responsibility not to desert the Valley now. "Itni badi tadaat mein log arahe the yaha 1-2 saalon mein. Achanak se agar rukh gaye hum log toh ek jo sambandh ban rahe hai mainland aur Kashmir ka woh rukna nahi chahiye...Jo atanwadiyon ne humein message diye ki, 'Yaha mat aiyye.' Toh nahi, hum toh ayenge, humara Kashmir hai, hum yaha ayenge, badi tadaat mein ayenge (People were coming here in huge numbers since the last 1-2 years. If we stop suddenly, the relationship that was getting formed between Kashmir and mainland shouldn't stop...The terrorists gave us the message, 'Don't come here'. No, we will come here, it's our Kashmir, we will come here and that too in significant numbers. I request people not to cancel their bookings. Come here, it's very safe here. If you have decided to travel somewhere, cancel that and come to Kashmir."</p>
<p>Atul then went on to document his visit to Kashmir and shared a series of pictures. He posted pictures of empty flight seats and his boarding pass. Atul also shared a note given to him by the flight crew. Along with the pictures, he wrote, "Mumbai to Srinagar. The crew says they were running full. We need to fill them up again. Chaliye ji, Kashmir chalein (Let's go to Kashmir)."</p>

Irrigation systems, crucial for sustaining Pakistan&rsquo;s agriculture, would begin to break down shortly after. Punjab, which produces over 75 per cent of Pakistan&rsquo;s wheat and 90 per cent of its rice, could see its crop output collapse &mdash; a devastating blow to both the economy and food security.</span><span id="input-sentence~5" classification="AI"><br><br>The threat also extends to electricity supply of Pakistan. Hydroelectric plants such as Mangla (with a capacity of 1,000 MW) and Tarbela (one of the world's largest earth-filled dams, producing around 4,888 MW) rely entirely on the western rivers. In the absence of steady water flow, Pakistan would face blackouts, crippling industries that contribute nearly 19 per cent to its GDP and affecting daily civilian life.</span><span id="input-sentence~6" classification="AI"> Amidst a conflict, the collapse of basic services could quickly trigger unrest among Pakistan&rsquo;s 241 million citizens, leading to riots and political instability.<br><br>From a strategic perspective, India&rsquo;s control over water gives it a massive advantage without direct military engagement.</span><span id="input-sentence~7" classification="AI"> Pakistan&rsquo;s armed forces, numbering around 650,000 active personnel, require stable logistical support, including water for troops and bases. Sustaining a prolonged military operation would become increasingly difficult for Pakistan, compromising field operations, equipment movement, and troop welfare.</span></p>
<p><span classification="AI">More worryingly for Pakistan, this crisis accelerates an already grim timeline. Even before the current standoff, the United Nations had warned that Pakistan could become a water-scarce country by 2025, with per capita water availability expected to fall below 1,000 cubic meters &mdash; the threshold defining "water scarcity." Without access to the Indus system, that timeline is no longer theoretical.</span></p>
<p><span id="input-sentence~7" classification="AI">Meanwhile, Pakistan&rsquo;s economy is already under enormous strain. </span><span id="input-sentence~8" classification="HUMAN">Its foreign reserves have fallen to just around $8 billion &mdash; barely enough to cover less than two months of imports. Inflation is soaring above 25 per cent and the country remains heavily reliant on IMF bailouts and foreign loans. Entering a war under such conditions would almost certainly push the country toward economic collapse.</span><span id="input-sentence~9" classification="AI"><br><br>Internationally, Islamabad finds itself increasingly isolated. Even China, Pakistan&rsquo;s largest creditor with investments worth over $65 billion under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is unlikely to intervene militarily over river waters. Western countries, viewing India as a growing $3.7 trillion economy and an important democratic partner in the Indo-Pacific, are increasingly siding with New Delhi.</span><span id="input-sentence~10" classification="AI"></span></p>
