The CBI court on Thursday began hearing the matter of former finance minister P Chidambaram's bail plea at Rouse Avenue District Court. Representing the probe agency CBI, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought 5-day custody of Chidambaram and told the court that Congress leader did not cooperate with the probe.

"You delayed the judgement and say that he had a protective umbrella. Grant of police remand is an exception. I have an objection to the way the accused is dealt with. This is a case which has no evidence," Kapil Sibal, representing Chidambaram, rests his case.
