<p>Sundance Film Festival winner feature ‘Hive’ from writer-director Blerta Basholli has been submitted for this year’s International Feature Oscar by Kosovo.</p>

<p>The Albanian-language drama is based on the true story of Fahrije (Yllka Gashi), who, like many of the other women in her patriarchal village, has lived with fading hope and burgeoning grief since her husband went missing during the war in Kosovo.</p>

<p>In order to provide for her struggling family, she pulls together the other widows in her community to launch a business selling a local food product. But the men in the village condemn Fahrije’s efforts to empower herself and the women around her, starting a feud that threatens their newfound sovereignty — and the financial future of Fahrije’s family.</p>

<p>‘Hive’ will release in New York on November 5 at Film Forum and at Los Angeles’ Laemmle’s Royal Theatre on November 12.</p>

Currently, a short clip of the movie scene is making rounds on social media in which Vidya Balan is seen massaging her child's head and having a conversation with him, what seems to start as an innocent conversation soon becomes a gut-wrenching and worrying one.</p>

<p>Helmed by Shaan Vyas and written by Annukampa Harsh and Vyas, the movie was premiered on YouTube as part of the 'We Are One: A Global Film Festival'. The Ronnie Screwvala produced film came out on June 2, 2020.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an announcement, Vidya had said, "In a year that has been turbulent, it feels great to win the first award for our film that leads the way directly to Oscar qualification. This film is incredibly close to me since it gave me a chance to play the dual roles of actor and producer.”</p>

Through innovation and technology international festivals and platforms have continued to advance and bridge the gaps in new and disruptive ways. <p>Italy is a regular contender at the Oscars. Italian films have won the Oscar in the international feature category (formerly called best foreign-language feature) 14 times.</p>
