<p>As per news agency Reuters reports, the parties made a series of pledges in the document which included the restoration of transparency of the public finances and depoliticisation of state-owned companies.</p>

<p>The deal also stated that the coalition would overturn a 2020 Constitutional Tribunal ruling that imposed a near-total ban on abortion.</p>

<p>The issue related to abortion is highly sensitive considering the presence of both Catholic social conservatives and left-wingers in an alliance.</p>

<p>"Everything cannot be reduced to one denominator," said Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, leader of the centre-right Polish Peasants' Party (PSL), which contested the election as part of a coalition called Third Way.</p>

<p>"In our agreement, we found a common denominator for the issues we want to implement. They concern support for families, employees, entrepreneurs, the Polish countryside, education, health care and women's rights."</p>

<h2><strong>Roles as per new agreement</strong></h2>

<p>As per the agreement signed, Kosiniak-Kamysz will serve as deputy prime minister, as will Krzystof Gawkowski from the New Left.</p>

<p>The position of parliament speaker will be shared between Third Way's Szymon Holownia and the New left's Wlodzimierz Czarzasty with each taking up the role for two years respectively.</p>

<p>President Andrzej Duda has provided the ruling nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party with the first move at constructing a government. However, PiS lacks a majority and with all the other parties having refused to work with it, its job seems next to impossible.</p>

<p>If Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki does not win a vote of confidence, parliament will appoint another government.</p>

<p>Tusk, former prime minister and ex-head of the European Council, has accused Duda of "playing for time" in selecting Morawiecki.</p>

Mumbai: 2-day Opposition meet to chalk out election strategies

<p>Zimbabwe's election&nbsp;commission said late on Saturday that incumbent Emmerson Mnangagwa had won this week's presidential election with roughly 53% of the vote, but the opposition and analysts immediately questioned the result.</p>

<p>Mnangagwa, who took over from longtime leader Robert Mugabe after a 2017 army coup, was widely expected to secure re-election for a second term as analysts said the contest was heavily skewed in favour of the ZANU-PF ruling party, which has been in power for more than four decades.</p>

<p>The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said Mnangagwa's main challenger, Nelson Chamisa, who leads the opposition Citizens' Coalition for Change (CCC) party, secured 44 percent of the presidential vote.</p>

<p>A CCC spokesperson said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that the party rejected "any result hastily assembled without proper verification".</p>

<p>While the run-up to the election has been largely free from violence, the police routinely ban opposition rallies and arrest opposition supporters using Zimbabwe's tough public order laws.</p>

<p>ZANU-PF denies it has an unfair advantage or seeks to influence the outcome of elections through rigging.</p>

<p>The head of the European Union's observer mission on Friday said this week's vote took place in a "climate of fear". Southern African regional bloc SADC's mission noted issues including voting delays, the banning of rallies and biased state media coverage.</p>

<p>Nicole Beardsworth, a politics lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, said she thought the late Saturday announcement was probably a response to the critique by SADC and other election observers.</p>

<p>"We all have a lot of questions about the speed with which ZEC is announcing presidential results," she said.</p>

<p>Voting in this week's presidential and parliamentary elections was meant to be wrapped up within one day on Wednesday, but it was extended into Thursday in some wards after the late distribution of ballot papers.</p>

<p>According to media reports, PM Modi made the statement during an address at a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday (August 8). The BJP leader added that the ruling party will "hit a sixer on&nbsp;the last ball", presumably referring to his reply to the motion, scheduled on August 10.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The Prime Minister said it [no-confidence motion] may be a programme for the <em>Ghamandia Gathbandhan</em> to test the confidence among each other, but for NDA, it is an opportunity,” a BJP MP who attended the meeting was quoted as saying by the newspaper&nbsp;<em>The Indian Express</em>.</p>

<p>This is not the first time that PM Modi has seemingly exuded confidence regarding the opposition's inability to dislodge his NDA government. In 2018, a similar no-trust motion was brought in the parliament and PM Modi prophesied that the opposition may attempt a similar ploy in 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I would like to extend my good wishes that you prepare well so that in 2023 (he pauses as members laugh) you get a chance to bring a no-confidence motion again,” PM Modi said in his address.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After a 12-hour debate that day, the Modi-led NDA government defeated the no-confidence motion in the lower house by 199 votes. While 126 members supported the motion, 325 MPs rejected it.</p>

<p>During the day-long session, both the government and opposition traded blows. The most noteworthy moment was when former Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gave him a hug.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, the proceedings on the no-trust motion got underway with the opposition creating a ruckus in the opening session, forcing both houses to be adjourned till 12:00 pm. His party colleague Gaurav Gogoi stepped up and launched the opening onslaught on BJP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Joshi said as per his knowledge, the speaker's office received a letter at 11:55 am local time that Gandhi would be speaking in place of Gogoi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"What happened in the space of five minutes, sir? What is the problem, sir? We are very enthusiastic to listen to Mr Rahul Gandhi," Joshi said.</p>
