Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manish Tewari, Sukhdev Bhagat, and Randeep Singh Surjewala will be in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for deliberations on the 'One Nation One Election' Bill, party sources said on Wednesday.

The One Nation, One Poll bill aims to synchronize assembly and Lok Sabha elections across India. The biggest argument in favor of simultaneous polls is their potential economic benefits. According to the Ramnath Kovind committee report, simultaneous elections can boost India’s real GDP growth by 1.5 percentage points.

One Nation One Election bill was admitted in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday afternoon (December 17) amid fierce condemnation from the opposition parties. 269 MPs voted in favour of the bill, while 198 voted against it in the Parliament.

Slamming the introduction of the 'One Nation, One Election' bill in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (Dec 17) ministers of India's main opposition party, the Indian National Congress (INC) said it was an "assault" on the basic structure of the country's constitution.
