Researchers claim 'ancient wood from Noah's Ark' broke their drill during excavation of mystery structure

A team looking for the remains of Noah's Ark has shared a video from inside the massive boat formation in Turkey, which has been linked to the biblical vessel. Some people believe it is Noah's Ark mentioned in the Bible, even though there has been no proof to back the claim. The group has shared a video of the Gopher drone travelling through an opening. The team claims that there is no rock or bedrock in the structure. "As radar scans accurately told us, No rock or bedrock found," it said in an X post. The claim remains unverified. Andrew Jones, founder of Noah’s Ark Scans, said that preliminary radar data does not show "a simple homogeneous solid-rock signature." The team is working with Bakhtar Research and Engineering LLC, with archaeologist Cenker Atila of Sivas Cumhuriyet University directing the wider investigation. "FIRST LOOK: footage from inside Noah’s Ark," the group wrote alongside the video. It adds that a "Gopher drone was sent down into the core drilling holes in an attempt to reach the mapped voids." The post further said that “Gopher needs some modifications in order to look around, as his wheels had trouble moving on the very loose sediment on the ground.”

What is Noah's Ark?
According to the Bible, Noah's was ordered to build a large vessel by God himself to save a pair of each species when the great flood devastated the rest of the world. Genesis (8:4) says that after the floodwaters receded, "the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat." This has drawn attention to the strange formation in the south of Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey. It is shaped like a large boat, but there is no proof that it is Noah's Ark. However, there are certain groups that believe it is Noah's Ark, and Jones is one of them. "We believe the Durupınar Formation is the remains of Noah’s Ark, and that is exactly why we want to put it through the strongest scientific testing we can." Meanwhile, most geologists say that Durupınar was "a completely natural rock formation." Yet, the idea has continued to intrigue people. Noah’s Ark Scans said on Wednesday that they wanted to "put the solid rock explanation to the test" and see "Where does the true bedrock lie beneath it—and how does that bedrock continue across the surrounding valley?” Newsweek reported. The team has collected samples from beneath the formation, going as deep as 60 feet, and will analyse them, hoping that it will provide a concrete answer to the question. "We have so far recovered layers of rich organic material that we believe could be the decayed top-tier remains of the Ark," Jones said, adding, "No bedrock or solid limestone has so far been identified in the holes." However, a lab analysis is yet to happen, after which a detailed report will be released.

A team of researchers have shared a video from inside the massive formation in Turkey, which many believe is the remains of Noah's Ark. A video on X posted by the group shows a drone travelling through a hole. They have reportedly collected samples from 60 feet below the formation.

'FIRST LOOK from inside Noah’s Ark': Researchers share video from inside mysterious mound in Turkey

The oldest map of the world - which has been drawn on an almost 3,000-year-old clay tablet - has been deciphered by scientists who have found the location of 'Noah's Ark'.

The Babylonian artefact - called the Imago Mundi - had a circular diagram in which there was a writing system which used wedge-shaped symbols to describe the world's early creation.

The British Museum's researchers said that they deciphered the tablet last month, however, after a deeper analysis it was found that the ancient language had Biblical references.

At the back of the tablet is the description of what a traveller will see on their journey and one part of it says that they should go through "seven leagues... [to] see something that is thick as a parsiktu-vessel."

The word "parsiktu" has also been mentioned on other ancient Babylonian tablets for explaining the size of a boat which is required to survive the Great Flood.

The researchers looked into the instructions which mentioned a path to 'Urartu' where it was claimed in an ancient Mesopotamian poem that a man and his family had landed an ark to preserve life.

Here's what the Babylonian tablet depicts

"It shows that the story was the same, and of course, that one led to the other but also, that from the Babylonian point of view, this was a matter-of-fact thing. That if you did go on this journey you would see the remnants of this historic boat," said Dr. Irving Finkel, British Museum curator.

Mesopotamia is sitting at the bottom centre of the map and is enclosed by a circle which represents a "bitter river" which is believed to surround the entire world.

The tablet has been damaged but at one time it featured eight triangles which, as per the researchers, signified mountains which matched the descriptions on the back.

"Number four says 'To the fourth, to which you must travel seven leagues,'' said Dr Finkel, in a YouTube video.

He said that the passage shows how the traveller will eventually reach the giant vessel.

"This parsiktu measurement, is something to an Assyriologist which makes their ears prick and the fact is it's only once otherwise known from cuneiform tablets and it's rather an interesting cuneiform tablet too," Dr Finkel added.

"Because it is the description of the Ark which was built, theoretically, by the Babylonian version of Noah," he said.

Scientists find location of 'Noah's Ark' on 3,000-year-old Babylonian tablet map

Archaeologists in Turkey have made a discovery, unearthing what they believe could be the remains of a vessel resembling Noah's Ark.

This find was the result of extensive excavation conducted by the Mount Ararat and Noah's Ark Research Team, a collaboration involving three Turkish and American universities.

Their project, which commenced in 2021, aimed to explore the geological formations in the region and reveal insights into ancient history, according to Turkish newspaper Hürriyet.

The heart of this discovery lies in the Durupinar formation, situated in the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı, Turkey, located less than two miles from the Iran-Turkey border.

The Durupinar formation is a 538-foot geographical feature primarily composed of limonite. It is locally believed by some to be the remnants of Noah's Ark, immortalized in religious and legendary narratives.

Noah's Ark is a well-known legend that transcends religious boundaries. According to legend, Noah, guided by divine instruction, constructed a colossal ark to save two of every animal species from a cataclysmic flood that submerged the Earth.

In the Book of Genesis, it was reported that the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat, which now lie in eastern Turkey.

Archaeological insights

The research team's excavation efforts involved extracting aged rock and soil samples from the Durupinar formation.

Their findings revealed the presence of "clayey materials, marine materials, and seafood" within the geological formation.

These discoveries indicate human activities in the region dating back to the Chalcolithic period, spanning from 5500 to 3000 BC.

AICU Vice Rector Professor Faruk Kaya shared insights on the significance of their findings, noting the alignment of historical events. He pointed out that the flood associated with the biblical Noah occurred approximately 5,000 years ago. While the dating results are compelling, it is important to acknowledge that the presence of the vessel itself cannot be confirmed through dating alone. Further extensive research and analysis are needed to reveal conclusive evidence.
