India is not interested in land of Pakistan or China but wanted peace and amity, Union minister and senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said on Sunday.

Addressing virtual ''Jan Samvad'' rally of Gujarat BJP from Nagpur in Maharashtra, he said India believed in peace and non-violence and do not want to be strong by becoming an expansionist.

"India never tried to grab land of its neighbours like Bhutan and Bangladesh," he added.

The Minister of Road Transport &amp; Highways and MSME also said that COVID-19 crisis will not last long, as a vaccine is on its way soon.

"India do not want land of either Pakistan or China. All India want is peace, amity, love, and (want) to work together (with neighbouring countries)," Gadkari said.

His comments came at a time when India and China are engaged in a stand-off at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

Talking about the completion of one year of the second term of the Modi government, Gadkari said its biggest achievement was to bring peace in the country by dealing with matters of internal and external security.

"...Whether it is about almost winning over the Maoist problem or securing the country from Pakistan-sponsored terrorism...There is China on the one side of our border and Pakistan on the other side. We want peace, not violence," he said.

During his speech, the Nagpur MP referred to famous novel "Mrityunjaya" by Marathi novelist Shivaji Sawant, saying peace and non-violence can be established by only those who are strong and not weak.

"We should not make India strong by becoming expansionist. We want to make India strong for establishing peace. We never tried to grab land of Bhutan. Our country made Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the prime minister of Bangladesh after winning the war (with Pakistan in 1971), and our soldiers returned thereafter.

"We took not a single inch of land. We do not want land either of Pakistan or China. All we want is peace, amity, love, and wanted to work together," he said.

Gadkari also said the coronavirus crisis will not last long as scientists in India and abroad have been working to develop a vaccine.

"This crisis is not going to last long. Effort is on in our country to develop a vaccine for coronavirus. Scientists across the world are working in this direction.

As per the information received by me, I can say with confidence that very soon we will find vaccine. Once we develop a vaccine, we won''t have to fear the crisis, Gadkari added.

As per the Union Health ministry, India saw the highest single-day spike of 11,929 novel coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of infections to over 3.20 lakh on Sunday, while the toll crossed the 9,000 mark with 311 more deaths.

Nationalism was his party's priority and ideology, and the Modi government has manifested it in the way it is dealing with Maoists and terrorists, Gadkari said.

Their "appeasement" has now ended and Maoists and terrorists are being dealt with an iron hand, he added.

Under Modi's leadership, nationalism which puts the country's interest above other things is being pursued and vote bank politics is receding, the BJP leader further said.

By annulling Article 370 which gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir and clearing the hurdles in the way of the construction of Ram Temple, the BJP has stuck to its ideology, Gadkari said.&nbsp;

"Adequate police arrangements have been made in all districts in the wake of protests. Police, Paramilitary, Rapid Action Force (RAF), PAC, Quick Reaction Team (QRTs) are patrolling the areas," said OP Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), UP.

"Till now, 879 people have been arrested under substantive offences while 5000 persons who may instigate violence or vitiate atmosphere are bound down based on suspicion," he added.

"A total of 135 criminal cases have been registered against the miscreants. Fifteen people have died while 288 police personnel are injured," said the top cop.&nbsp;

Rumours are being spread, there's no need to worry: Gadkari on Citizenship Amendment Act 

After former Finance Minister P Chidambaram was granted bail in the INX Media money laundering case, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that there is evidence for cases against the senior Congress leader.

Gadkari told ANI that Chidambaram filed false cases against him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his stint as Finance Minister under the Congress regime.

"There is evidence for the cases against him, there have been inquiries, now the matter is sub-judice and the court will take the decision," Gadkari said.

"We have never been vindictive, on the other hand when Chidambaram was Home Minister during Congress rule, he filed false cases against me, he also filed false cases against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Later, we all were proved innocent," he added.

The Supreme Court today granted bail to Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

A Bench of Justice R Banumathi, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Hrishikesh Roy set aside the Delhi High Court`s order which had refused to grant bail to Chidambaram.

The top court observed that Chidambaram shall not tamper with evidence and not influence the witness.

He shall not give press interview and not make public statement with regard to this case.

On November 28, the top court had reserved the order on the petition filed by former finance minister Chidambaram, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

The High Court had, on November 15, dismissed his bail plea and observed that prima facie allegations against him were serious in nature and he played an "active and key role" in the offence.

Chidambaram sought bail in a case pertaining to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as the finance minister.

CBI had registered a corruption case in this regard in May 2017. Later that year, the ED also lodged a money laundering case.

The Congress leader was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 21 in the INX Media corruption case but was granted bail by the Supreme Court two months later.

He was arrested by the ED in the money laundering case on October 16.&nbsp;

Gadkari told ANI that Chidambaram filed false cases against him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his stint as Finance Minister under the Congress regime. "There is evidence for the cases against him, there have been inquiries, now the matter is sub-judice and the court will take the decision," Gadkari said. "We have never been vindictive, on the other hand when Chidambaram was Home Minister during Congress rule, he filed false cases against me, he also filed false cases against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Later, we all were proved innocent," he added. The Supreme Court today granted bail to Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). A Bench of Justice R Banumathi, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Hrishikesh Roy set aside the Delhi High Court`s order which had refused to grant bail to Chidambaram. The top court observed that Chidambaram shall not tamper with evidence and not influence the witness. He shall not give press interview and not make public statement with regard to this case. On November 28, the top court had reserved the order on the petition filed by former finance minister Chidambaram, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. The High Court had, on November 15, dismissed his bail plea and observed that prima facie allegations against him were serious in nature and he played an "active and key role" in the offence. Chidambaram sought bail in a case pertaining to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as the finance minister. CBI had registered a corruption case in this regard in May 2017. Later that year, the ED also lodged a money laundering case. The Congress leader was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 21 in the INX Media corruption case but was granted bail by the Supreme Court two months later. He was arrested by the ED in the money laundering case on October 16.

The NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena are holding hectic deliberations on the government formation in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra came under President's Rule on November 12 after all the parties failed to form a government in the state.&nbsp;

The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party, could not stake claim to form a government as its ally Shiv Sena remained firm on rotating the Chief Minister's post and equal sharing of Cabinet berths.

Shiv Sena parted its ways with BJP to explore ways to form a government. It, however, failed to prove the support of the required number of MLAs in the time given by state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The Governor had then invited NCP, the third-largest party, to prove its ability to form the government failing which President`s Rule was imposed in the state.

The Shiv Sena is now in talks with the Congress and NCP to form a government in Maharashtra.

The BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member assembly followed by Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44.&nbsp;

They won't give Maharashtra a stable government: Gadkari on Congress, NCP, Shiv Sena alliance

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said here on Thursday that whosoever forms government in Maharashtra, the developmental projects and policies rolled by the previous regime would not be interrupted.

"I feel that there will be no difference. In Indian experience, in our democracy, the governments are changed but there is no problem with the projects and they continue," said Nitin Gadkari.

"I don't know which government will come. Any government whether NCP, Congress, BJP or Shiv Sena they will support the positive policies, the development policies and the big projects," he added.

When asked about the prospects of government formation in Maharashtra, Gadkari said that anything can happen as he drew parallels with cricket and politics. "Anything can happen in cricket and politics. Sometimes you feel you are losing the match, but the result is exactly the opposite. Also, I have just arrived from Delhi, I don't know the detailed politics of Maharashtra,&nbsp;he said."

Leaders of NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena, who are having talks to form a non-BJP government in Maharashtra, have prepared a draft Common Minimum Programme (CMP) which will now be sent to senior leaderships of three parties.

Considering the amount of work and development that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has done in the last five years in Maharashtra, I am sure we will have a record-breaking victory in the state elections here," he told ANI.

"In Haryana too, we are confident of a record-breaking victory. BJP will form the government in Haryana with an outright majority," Gadkari said.

Asked about Congress' allegations that BJP was diverting people-related issues by raising Article 370 and national security, the Union Minister said that the opposition party had a "defeated mentality."

"Congress had a defeated mentality. There was a lack of leadership and self-confidence in the party. They got a chance to rule in the last 62 years. What they could not do in the last 62 years, BJP has done it in five years. I am sure people will side with the BJP," Gadkari said.

He called on the citizens to cast their votes in the assembly elections.

"See, voting is our constitutional right. Not exercising your franchise is not good. This is the festival of democracy. So, I urge people to go out and vote in huge numbers," Gadkari said.

Earlier today, the Union Minister exercised his franchise at a polling booth in Nagpur, which is his hometown.

Voting for 288 constituencies in Maharashtra began today at 7 am today and will continue till 6 pm. The counting of votes will take place on October 24.

Of the 288 seats, BJP is contesting in 164, this includes candidates of smaller allies contesting on its lotus symbol. On the other hand, BJP's key ally Shiv Sena has fielded 126 candidates in the state.

The Congress has 147 candidates in the fray while its ally NCP is contesting in 121 seats. The alliance has left the rest of the seats for its smaller partners.

Votes will be counted on October 24.

This will help provide seamless services to consumers across the country," an official statement said. 
 
Another MoU is expected to be signed tomorrow, between the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) and Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) for the integration of Fastag with GST E-Way Bill System. 
 
The GST Council has already accorded 'in-principle' approval for this integration. 
 
"The integration of EWB system with Fastag will help revenue authorities <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/looking-for-integrated-approach-to-solve-problems-says-nitin-gadkari-at-wions-emobility-summit-253033">track the movement of vehicles</a> and ensure that they are travelling to the same destination that the transporter or the trader had specified while generating the e-way bill," said the statement.

One day I told my engineer that this Napier grass should be tested because there are two hundred tons of it on 1 acre. I asked him to take out its calorific value. When there was 60 per cent moisture, and if we dry it for one day, the moisture will reduce to 40 per cent. Now, I have decided to make six districts diesel-free.&nbsp;

I'm a man of my word. I bought cutting machines from 5-6 companies and making it compact is really hard, and four days later I supplied it for making green power.

There is 4000-ton coal with a calorific value of 3600, so if we get Napier grass for Rs 2500 a ton, and if we use that then farmers will get cheaper fuel. In a 2 acre field, a farmer will earn Rs 2 lakhs. I'm going to put 200 Napier grass into the biodigester.

Then the IIT people told me that 3 ton of Napier grass is giving 1 ton of bioenergy. One kilo bio CNG costs Rs 55, its calorific value is equal to one litre of diesel and it costs Rs 85.

Our Corporation's yearly loss adds up to Rs 6 crores and I have challenged that in one year we cannot incur losses. New innovations deserve to be shown. I had been talking about ethanol for 12 years and people used to laugh at me, but now everybody is talking about ethanol. But the costs will skyrocket from Rs 4500-5000 crores to 50000 crores. This established the ethanol industry, and now we have moved on to biodiesel.

I give the diesel to my farmers for Rs 5 cheaper per litre which can be used for energy towers attached to generators, then came bio CNG. I have built 150 biodigesters along the Ganga, and I gave them to petroleum companies for free, prepare bioenergy and run transportation with it. Why import when we can do it ourself, and the pollution level will also go down. Based on my experience I have decided to free six big districts of diesel in five years.

I called Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath&nbsp;to our agro-vision and we powered a tractor with bio CNG, we bought a cylinder which had a high import duty because of its weight, so too many problems with it. Nobody gives as many headaches as me to the Petrol ministry, I keep asking them, "why haven't you done this?"&nbsp;

I feel farmers will really benefit from it. If Rs 2 lakh crore goes into the economy, imagine the number of jobs that will sprout.

Poverty will also be alleviated.&nbsp;The MDs of Bajaj and TVS are very young. I told them that I will&nbsp;work with them on only one condition - that you will launch ethanol bikes and auto-rickshaws, and they both did it.

Sudarshan Venu of TVS did a really good job. I was the one who launched their bike. I believe that the word "impossible" itself says "it's&nbsp;possible".

I speak out of the box and that is why many don't believe me. Five years from now, all of you will also begin to believe me. It will take some time but we should pursue it.

Emphasising citizens to adhere to the amended new Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2019, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari defended the law saying that stringent rules were "much needed" as the people were not following the traffic rules seriously.&nbsp;

Saying that there was neither fear nor respect among people towards adhering to the traffic rules, Gadkari said, "Stringent rules were much needed as people had taken traffic laws very lightly and there was neither fear nor respect for the law."

Gadkari, who launched Transport Corporation of India Ltd's (TCI) 'Safe Safar awareness' on Thursday, said, "I am surprised that people are protesting against a law (Motor Vehicle Act) that has been created in the national interest. If one obeys the traffic rules, one should not have to worry about heavy fines."

Speaking about the importance of awareness campaign, the Union Minister said that the idea is to reduce accidents and save as many lives by having more awareness campaigns. "It is time that people must take all cautions while travelling on the road as we face the highest road accidents/deaths," he asserted.

He also flagged off a specially-designed truck which will move around the country to spread awareness about road safety.

The Delhi Transport Union called for a one-day strike on Thursday against the hefty fines imposed for violating traffic rules under the newly amended Motor Vehicles (MV) Act 2019.

Last month, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had notified the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, which was implemented in several states from September 1.

The law enforces heavy fines and stricter penalties for traffic violations. There have been several instances where people have coughed up hefty fines for traffic violations in many parts of the country.

At the event, a few leaders of the Mali community demanded tickets and more representation for themselves ahead of the State Assembly elections. Later, Gadkari urged them to look beyond the demand for reservation.

"When people fail to get a ticket on the basis of their works (kartutva), then they bring forward the caste card," Gadkari said.

"George Fernandes belonged to which caste? He did not belong to any caste...He was a Christian. Indira Gandhi did not come to power because of her caste...Ashok Gehlot became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan after people from other caste groups supported him," he claimed.

Gadkari went on to say that earlier people told him that women should get reservation.

"I said yes they should definitely get it. But I immediately asked them, did Indira Gandhi get reservation? For several years she ruled the country and became popular...I asked whether Vasundhara Raje and Sushma Swaraj got reservation?" asked Gadkari.

Gadkari also added that reservation should be given to those "Who are oppressed, Dalit, socially and economically backward sections of the society."

His reaction came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the implementation of the scheme in Delhi in November to combat pollution.

"No, I don't think it is needed. Ring Road we built has significantly reduced pollution in the city and our planned schemes will free Delhi of pollution in the next 2 years. It's their (Delhi government's) decision if they want to implement it," he told media.&nbsp;

"On 2 and 3 November, there is Saturday and Sunday. Odd-even will be implemented from November 4 to November 15. Studies show that it reduces pollution by 10-13 per cent," said Kejriwal.

The Union Minister asserted that higher penalties have been levied to curb road accident cases and save lives. "People did not have any fear and respect towards traffic laws and rules so we decided to raise the penalties. By imposing higher fines we are not aiming to earn money, the main motive behind this is to implement the traffic rules in an apt manner," said Gadkari. "Why are people asked to pay fine? If you won`t break any rule then you won`t be asked to pay any fine. The traffic penalties have been raised as earlier even after imposing penalties for traffic violations, people did not follow rules. People used to take it for granted; they used to think that they`ll pay some money and move on," he added. Gadkari further went on to add that the people should follow proper traffic rules so that they do not have to pay higher fines and penalties. "Around five lakh accidents occur every year in our country and around 1.5 lakh people die due to road accidents. Around 1.5 lakh to two lakh, people become handicap due to accidents. Around 65% of the people who die in road accidents fall under 18 yrs to 65 yrs of age group. Young people die in road accidents. Is there no value of their life?," said Gadkari. The transport minister told that his department is looking forward to improving the accidental spots in the country and the government will be utilizing around Rs 14 crore for the same. "This initiative is beneficial in many ways and it is in the interest of the general public only. I had promised that within five years I`ll try to bring down the death rate in road accidents to 50 per," said Gadkari.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will play an important role in the job creation in the country.

Speaking at 'Laghu Udyog Bharati Rashtriya Adhiveshan'&nbsp;here, Gadkari said,&nbsp;"There are six crore MSMEs in the country. Out of them, 2 crore units have not registered themselves as MSME as of now. Till now 11.5 crore people have got employment in this sector. We have set a target of 5 crore new jobs from this sector."

"We have to work on achieving the target of becoming 5 trillion dollar economy set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the GDP growth, 29 per cent growth belongs to MSMEs. In export, there is 40 per cent contribution of MSMEs," Gadkari said.

The Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said, "We have to increase our export and limit the import. We have to do maximum capital investment in MSME sector to create job opportunities."

He spoke people living villages. "Today 65 per cent people live in rural areas. At the time of Mahatma Gandhi, 80 per cent of people lived in rural areas."So we also have to think about reforms in rural sector which include agriculture, handlooms, handicrafts and agro-processing industries," he added.&nbsp;

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will play an important role in the job creation in the country. Speaking at 'Laghu Udyog Bharati Rashtriya Adhiveshan' here, Gadkari said, "There are six crore MSMEs in the country. Out of them, 2 crore units have not registered themselves as MSME as of now. Till now 11.5 crore people have got employment in this sector. We have set a target of 5 crore new jobs from this sector." "We have to work on achieving the target of becoming 5 trillion dollar economy set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the GDP growth, 29 per cent growth belongs to MSMEs. In export, there is 40 per cent contribution of MSMEs," Gadkari said. The Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said, "We have to increase our export and limit the import. We have to do maximum capital investment in MSME sector to create job opportunities." He spoke people living villages. "Today 65 per cent people live in rural areas. At the time of Mahatma Gandhi, 80 per cent of people lived in rural areas."So we also have to think about reforms in rural sector which include agriculture, handlooms, handicrafts and agro-processing industries," he added.

According to ANI sources at AIIMS, the 67-year-old was feeling restless at 9 pm and reached the hospital at around 9:30 pm in an ambulance. A team of doctors tried to revive her for 70 to 80 minutes but failed in their attempt. Swaraj was declared dead at 10:50 pm.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that toll system cannot be ended and that people have to pay if they want good services as the government does not have enough funds.

"Toll system can never end though rates may vary from time to time. The toll is my brainchild. If you want good services, you have to pay for it. The government does not have money," he said in the Lok Sabha while replying to a debate on 'Demands for Grants' under the Road, Transport and Highways Ministry.

The Union Minister stressed that those who can pay toll tax should pay it and that those areas which have the capacity to pay, the money is utilised for building roads in rural and hilly areas.

Gadkari said that over 1.5 lakh people lose their lives every year in road accidents and underlined that the number was higher than the people killed in terror attacks.

The minister said that he will help the MPs in establishing training centres for driving in their respective constituencies."We lack 25 lakh drivers. New driving centres should be started especially in economically backward regions," he added.

Gadkari informed the House that the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill will ensure that licences are not duplicated and the culprits are tracked.

He said that India has become a manufacturing hub for the automobile sector and will become the first in the world in electric automobile manufacturing in the next five years.
