Currently embroiled in a back-and-forth tango with the FBI over mishandling of potentially sensitive classified documents, former President Donald Trump's problems do not seem to end. Reportedly, it has been revealed that a Ukrainian woman, claiming to be the heiress of the super-rich Rothschild family, visited Trump's Mar-a-Lago, resort cum home multiple times, mingling with him and several high-profile guests, all under a fake identity.

According to a probe launched by the FBI, the woman named Inna Yashchyshyn, 33, claimed to be Anna de Rothschild, while gaining entry into the resort. However, the scammer is the daughter of a truck driver named Oleksandr Yaschysyn who lives in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Reportedly, Inna first entered Trump's property in 2021 using forged IDs, including US passports, and multiple driver's licences and managed to work her way up the socialite ladder of Florida. FBI stated that Inna managed to get a photograph with the former President, a day after she infiltrated his resort.

However, the FBI refused to elaborate further regarding the extent of its probe and if Inna was being questioned in connection with the papers.

“To maintain the operational integrity of our work, we are unable to comment specifically concerning the means, methods or resources used to conduct our protective operations,” Steven Kopek, an FBI special agent and spokesman, was quoted as saying.

Not only is Inna being investigated for forging identities and infiltrating a place where sensitive classified Presidential information remained, but she is also being probed over a shady charity, whose reins she held.

Reportedly, Inna was the president of United Hearts of Mercy, an NGO, founded by a Florida-based Russian businessman called Valery Tarasenk. However, the authorities believe that it was actually a front for organized crime.

Meanwhile, Inna's former husband Sergey Golubev, a Russian-born US citizen, who married her in 2011, said that they only got married so she could obtain US residence and stay in the country.

"At some point, she needed a green card," Golubev was quoted as saying by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

However, it remains unclear why Inna wanted a green card when her father was already a US citizen.

On Saturday, the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis will name 20 new cardinals, picked from different corners of the world, in a bid to prepare for his eventual succession. Reportedly, the ceremony will take place at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, as Pope Francis takes a step closer to decide the future spiritual leader of the 1.3 billion Catholics. The ceremony on Saturday will be Pope's eighth since he took charge in 2013. Moreover, after the ceremony, he would have chosen 83 of the 132 cardinals required to elect a new Pope. Of the 20 new cardinals, 16 will be under the age of 80 and eligible to act as electors while choosing the successor of the Pontiff. Keeping up with the times, the Church has opted to show diversity in its pick by choosing two Africans and five Asians, including two cardinals from India. Currently, 40 per cent of the electors hail from Europe, while South America and Asua account for 16 per cent, followed by Africa at 13 per cent and North America at 12 per cent. According to Federal Reserve head Jerome Powell, taming United States (US) inflation will cause "pain" to American families and businesses, but failing to force prices down from their current 40-year high would be even more harmful. Powell made the remarks in a highly-anticipated speech to international policymakers on Friday.

Powell did not hold back or leave any space for doubt when he spoke to the annual meeting of central bankers at Jackson Hole, Wyoming, promising to act "forcefully."

The strong US employment market will suffer as a result of the world's greatest economy possibly slowing for an extended period, he warned. He referred to these repercussions as the "unfortunate costs of reducing inflation."

This year, the Fed aggressively campaigned to raise interest rates, and Powell made it clear in his unusually brief and very forthright speech that the struggle against inflation is far from done.

In front of the breathtaking Grand Teton mountains, he said, "Restoring price stability will take some time and requires using our tools forcefully to bring demand and supply into better balance."

Inflation will be reduced by higher interest rates, slower growth, and softer labour market conditions, but Powell warned that this will hurt both households and companies.

But failing to bring back price stability will cause even more suffering.

The US economy is showing modest indications of slowing down, and price pressures are lessening, which has given financial markets hope that the central bank may scale down its aggressive rate hikes and possibly start to reverse course next year.

Powell, however, put an end to expectations of a change in policy by emphasising that the Fed's monetary policy and the benchmark borrowing rate would need to stay "sufficiently restrictive" in order to bring inflation back down to the goal rate of 2 per cent.

The announcement caused a downturn in the US stock market, with all three major stock indices falling three per cent or more, with the Dow shedding 1,000 points.

According to a new Yale University report backed by the US State Department in an effort to hold Moscow accountable, Russia and its proxy forces in Ukraine are running 21 facilities used to detain, question, and process prisoners of war and civilians.

The report, published on Thursday, uses open-source data and commercial satellite imagery to identify the various locations with "high confidence," including buildings that have previously been used as markets, schools, and regular prisons. Additionally, it pinpoints potential graves at one prison complex.

The Conflict Observatory was established in May with funding from the U.S. State Department to gather and examine proof of war crimes and other alleged atrocities committed by Russia in Ukraine. The Conflict Observatory's Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale School of Public Health, which produced the report, is a partner in the Conflict Observatory.

The findings, according to the lab's executive director Nathaniel Raymond, show that Russia and its allies have set up a "system of filtration" to separate people in regions under Russian occupation, which constitutes a "human rights emergency."

At one of the locations, a prison complex close to Olenivka, where 53 Ukrainian prisoners of war were allegedly killed in an explosion on July 29, reports of abuses had already surfaced.

According to the study, Yale researchers have discovered ground disturbances that are consistent with individual or mass graves as early as April, correlating with a former prisoner's testimony that captives were made to dig graves around that time.

The researchers discovered other disturbances elsewhere in the property were captured on July 27, before to the explosion at Olenivka, even though they were unable to draw any conclusions about the fate of the Ukrainian prisoners of war held at the prison. Unrest at the compound in July was previously covered by The New York Times.

The former prime minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, is among the few world leaders who have looked Xi Jinping in the eye and dealt with him. He claimed that Xi Jinping would increase his bets if he won Taiwan. After that, the Chinese president could focus on smaller conflicts. Arunachal Pradesh, an Indian state, is included in this.

During an exclusive conversation with Palki Sharma Upadhyay, WION's Managing Editor, the former Australian PM decoded the Chinese game plan of expansion.

While answering the question, "How do the Chinese assess India after what happened in the Galwan Valley?," he replied, "There is a grudging but high degree of respect in the Chinese people's minds for India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Kevin Rudd, "What permanently puzzles the Chinese is how a country of 1.3 billion people can be a robust democracy given that their only historical script in their mind is that it has to be autocratic."

He also said that China recognises India as an ancient civilization, and it is quite respectful of democracy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
