Sources pointed out that the conference in Delhi, "intends to include discussions on technical, legal, regulatory and cooperation aspects of all facets of terrorism financing and attempt to set the pace for similar high level official and political deliberations, focused on countering terror financing."

The conference also aims to strengthen the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) role in setting global standards. Sources explained that "more coordination is needed among states for international organisations to foster effective mechanism to combat terrorism financing."

Usage of crypto by terrorists on the agenda at Delhi "No Money For Terror" meet

As the air quality of the Delhi NCR region in India continues to worsen, the Delhi government on Friday asked half of its staff to work from home. Delhi's environment minister Gopal Rai announced that due to the severe air pollution, 50 per cent of government employees in Delhi will work from home.&nbsp;

The minister also noted that private workplaces would also receive a recommendation to adopt the standard of requesting 50 per cent of staff to work remotely. Rai further noted that the entry of trucks into the city is already prohibited aside from those transporting necessities.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of India's capital New Delhi, said on Friday that the primary schools in the national capital would be closed from Saturday.&nbsp;

During a press briefing, Kejriwal said that in secondary school students, outdoor activities would be restricted. The announcement regarding the schools comes a day after schools in the neighbouring city of Noida were told to hold online classes till November 8.&nbsp;

In a meeting held last month, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had emphasised not lowering guard against COVID due to upcoming festivals even as it decided to do away with wearing face masks after September 30.

According to the minutes of the meeting held on September 22, and accessed by PTI, a notification revoking the Rs 500 fine on not wearing masks is expected to be issued by the health department on Wednesday.

The decision to revoke the mask mandate was anything but unanimous and differences abound, as per the minutes of the meeting issued by Sushil Singh, special CEO, disaster management.

Chief Secretary of Delhi Naresh Kumar had in the meeting said that the current situation was comfortable but the guard against Coronavirus could not be lowered as the variants keep coming up.

The health ministry has advised caution in view of multiple festivals from September 26 to December 31 and likely mass gatherings across the country.

Niti Aayog member Dr V K Paul had in the meeting emphasised that surveillance was still needed as the virus is still present and its mutations and variants have emerged from time to time.

Dr Rajendra Singh, member NDMA, came up with a suggestion that wearing of masks be continued up to November 15 in view of coming festivals.

Delhi Police Commissioner sought clarity and complete set of instructions on the enforcement of mask mandate.

The Chief Secretary suggested that a 'self discipline mode'&nbsp;may be tried now as the public is well aware of its responsibilities and what constitutes a COVID-appropriate behaviour.

Revenue minister Kailash Gahlot in the same meeting reiterated that there were "practical difficulties" in the enforcement of the mask mandate, and stressed the need to relax the rule.

Kunal Satyarthi, joint secretary NDMA, agreed with him saying that wearing of masks may not be advisable in the present circumstances, the minutes said.

The meeting chaired by LG V K Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in attendance, summarily agreed that though wearing of masks was useful in maintaining a Covid -appropriate behaviour, the order of compulsory wearing of masks under the Epidemic Act may not be extended beyond September 30.

The DDMA also agreed that the fine of Rs 500 for not wearing masks in public places will stand withdrawn after September 30, it added.

Also included are archival footages from the Quit India Movement, speeches of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose and Jawaharlal Nehru, besides Gandhi's visit to the North West Frontier Province with Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan and Noakhali - Peace Pilgrimage.

More than photographs of Mahatma Gandhi are also put on display ranging from his place of birth in Porbandar up to his memorial at the Rajghat.

The collection also includes his pictures of early life, London and South African phase, important movement of the Indian Freedom Struggle and with various contemporary leaders.

Six people in India's national capital were mauled in their sleep by a speeding truck in the wee hours of Wednesday. Reportedly, the incident took place in the Seemapuri area of New Delhi which killed four while critically injuring&nbsp;the remaining two.&nbsp;

According to police, the truck driver fled the scene after running over the persons and is yet to be arrested. As per local news reports, the accident took place at 1:51 AM when the truck was crossing the DTC Bus Depot red light and the six persons were sleeping on the road divider.&nbsp;

The visuals of the accident spot show the bodies of the victims lying lifeless near the divider while an electric pole lies toppled over them. The ferocity of the accident can be gauged by the fact that the pole came off the surface.&nbsp;

The four deceased persons have been identified as 52-year-old Kareem, 25-year-old Chotte Khans, 38-year-old Shah Alam, and 45-year-old Rahul. 16-year-old Manish and 30-year-old Pradeep are the injured ones.

It is pertinent to note that despite being the country's capital, the majority of daily-wage labourers and street vendors sleep on the road footpaths and dividers of the busy intersections of the city.&nbsp;

Pair such a condition with the negligent driving pattern of Indian drivers and such incidents become a rather common phenomenon.&nbsp;

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, deaths by road accidents in India have increased by almost 17 per cent in 2021 compared to 2020.&nbsp;

In 2021, 1.55 lakh people died in accidents on Indian roads, up from 1.33 lakh in 2020, when much of the year saw a nationwide lockdown. Total road accidents reported was 4.03 lakh in 2021, up from 3.54 lakh the year before.

The highest number of road accidents every year is attributed to negligent driving and speeding.&nbsp;

Reportedly, the incident took place in the Seemapuri area of New Delhi which killed four while critically injuring the remaining two. According to police, the truck driver fled the scene after running over the persons and is yet to be arrested. As per local news reports, the accident took place at 1:51 AM when the truck was crossing the DTC Bus Depot red light and the six persons were sleeping on the road divider. The visuals of the accident spot show the bodies of the victims lying lifeless near the divider while an electric pole lies toppled over them. The ferocity of the accident can be gauged by the fact that the pole came off the surface. It is pertinent to note that despite being the country's capital, the majority of daily-wage labourers and street vendors sleep on the road footpaths and dividers of the busy intersections of the city. Pair such a condition with the negligent driving pattern of Indian drivers and such incidents become a rather common phenomenon. Reportedly, Delhi saw a more than 40 per cent rise in crimes against women in 2021, compared to a year prior. A total of 13,500 crimes were reported against the fairer sex in 2021, compared to a little under 10,000 in 2020.

Of the 43,414 crimes reported against women in 19 major cities across the country, Delhi accounted for 32.20 per cent of the cases, suggesting that law and order authorities were not working properly to create a safe environment for women.

Amongst the category of crimes, over 3,948 cases of abduction and kidnapping were reported while 2,022 cases of assault on women with an intent to outrage their modesty were registered by the Bureau.

However, what may come as most surprising is the cases of dowry deaths, despite a concerted campaign by the central and state government to discourage dowry.

According to the data, the national capital witnessed 136 cases of dowry deaths, which again accounted for 36.36 per cent of the total cases.&nbsp;

In 1997, only two such days were recorded.&nbsp;In 2018, 19 such days were witnessed in New Delhi while the figure was 16 in 2019, 15 each in 2017 and 2016, 18 in 2015, 15 in 2014 and 17 in 2013. In 1953, 1954 and 1971, no such day was witnessed in New Delhi, the data showed.
