<p>In a shocking incident from India’s Dadar, thieves brazenly stole expensive copper wires from utility cables laid under a footpath.</p>

<p>Local police have arrested five men for robbing copper wires worth ₹6 lakh- ₹7 lakh (up to $8,000) from cables laid under the footpath.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Copper costs ₹845 ($10) per kg.</p>

<p>The incident, which took place on the Dadar-Matunga stretch of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, was assumed to be road and pavement repair work but drew speculations from residents when the dug-up areas were not put back to normal in time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the 2-3-metre-wide footpath between Kings Circle and Dadar TT Circle, among the widest in the island city, was found haphazardly dug up in patches, residents brought it to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s notice which then began inspection into the matter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>An official from BMC said the civic body was bewildered by the enormous scale of work on the footpath when nothing was sanctioned either at the ward level or by the relevant departments.</p>

The Coastal Road tunnel in Mumbai, India’s first undersea tunnel, encountered seepage and water leakage just two months after it was inaugurated amidst much fanfare. On Sunday (26 May), evidence of seepage became apparent and videos of it have since been widely circulated on social media, triggering safety concerns ahead of the monsoon. Visuals showed water dripping from the roof of the undersea tunnel and several dark spots on the walls where the paint had chipped off due to the dampness. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected the site and assured commuters that there was no reason to be alarmed and that the leaks would be fixed promptly. “I immediately called the commissioner. <p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (Apr 29) launched a scathing attack against the Congress and accused it of minting the idea of "saffron terrorism".</p>

<p>He further alleged that the grand old party had plans to put the blame of the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks on "holy saffron and innocent Hindus."</p>

<p>“Because of the appeasement by Congress and INDI alliance, when terrorism increased in the country, Congress hatched another deep conspiracy, Pune land is its witness. Congress came up with the theory of 'saffron terrorism' to put all the blame on innocent Hindus, they put innocent Hindus in jail and harassed them,” Modi said while addressing a rally in Pune.</p>

<p>“Congress was prepared to put the blame for the 26/11 Mumbai attack on holy saffron...they are those people who give statements in support of Yasin Bhatkal when he gets arrested. They are those people who open court during midnight to stop the death sentence of terrorist Yakub Memon,” he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He then said that India was severely affected by incidents related to terrorism ten years ago, but now the ones who sent the terrorists to the country are starving.</p>

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (Apr 29) launched a scathing attack against the Congress and accused it of minting the idea of "saffron terrorism". He further alleged that the grand old party had plans to put the blame of the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks on "holy saffron and innocent Hindus." “Because of the appeasement by Congress and INDI alliance, when terrorism increased in the country, Congress hatched another deep conspiracy, Pune land is its witness. Congress came up with the theory of 'saffron terrorism' to put all the blame on innocent Hindus, they put innocent Hindus in jail and harassed them,” Modi said while addressing a rally in Pune. “Congress was prepared to put the blame for the 26/11 Mumbai attack on holy saffron...they are those people who give statements in support of Yasin Bhatkal when he gets arrested. They are those people who open court during midnight to stop the death sentence of terrorist Yakub Memon,” he added. He then said that India was severely affected by incidents related to terrorism ten years ago, but now the ones who sent the terrorists to the country are starving. “We banned the PFI who indulged in violence in the country. Their bigwigs are now rotting in jail. For votes, Congress is taking their support in Kerala. You can't expect your well-being from such people,” PM Modi said.
