We started this government started it on a wrong footing, but they have realigned and make course corrections. It's going to be difficult for any government in the Maldives not to have very good relations with India. We are too linked together in all aspects of our nation building and nationhood. So I only see that it is just during a very heated campaign. So sometimes people use different techniques. Misinformation is also spread, sometimes for personal gain. So today I see that it is just the other way around. In a statement issued by the Maldivian government&#39;s immigration department, the authorities have officially cancelled Maldivian passports of former president Mohammed Nasheed, former vice-president Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, former foreign minister Ahmed Naseem and former state minister Akram Kamaaludheen. The passport of H Haajaraage Abdulla Luthufi, who was sentenced to jail in connection with the November 3, 1988 militant attack was also revoked. 
 
Immigration authorities said that anyone who was wanted regarding the enforcement of criminal convictions against them or anyone who refused to return despite orders from authorities regarding any ongoing investigation cannot be allowed to live in other countries holding a Maldivian passport. But the authorities added that if those whose passports have been revoked wanted to come back to Maldives, travel documents would be provided.

In a statement issued by the Maldivian government's immigration department, the authorities have officially cancelled Maldivian passports of former president Mohammed Nasheed, former vice-president Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, former foreign minister Ahmed Naseem and former state minister Akram Kamaaludheen. The passport of H Haajaraage Abdulla Luthufi, who was sentenced to jail in connection with the November 3, 1988 militant attack was also revoked. Immigration authorities said that anyone who was wanted regarding the enforcement of criminal convictions against them or anyone who refused to return despite orders from authorities regarding any ongoing investigation cannot be allowed to live in other countries holding a Maldivian passport. But the authorities added that if those whose passports have been revoked wanted to come back to Maldives, travel documents would be provided. The Maldivian government revoked the passports hours after the documentary 'Stealing Paradise' made by Al Jazeera regarding corruption in Maldives was released on YouTube which had interviews of former president Nasheed and former vice-president Jameel.
