<p>Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was last seen in Aamir Khan-starrer 'Laal Singh Chhadha', has finally wrapped the London schedule of her upcoming film with ace director Hansal Mehta. In a new Instagram post, the actress shared two photos from the UK and called herself a “director’s actor”. She also described her experience of working with Mehta in a heartfelt post, which went viral in no time.</p>

<p>"A director’s actor…always Easy, sharp, instinctive and cool…been an absolute pleasure… @hansalmehta This one is special guys Mumbai see you soon," she wrote.</p>

<p>The Just Stop Oil demonstrations, which have caused four days of disruption on the M25 highway encircling London, will be put on hold&nbsp;to allow the government time to rethink awarding new licences for oil and gas exploitation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The protesters claimed they stopped the action on Remembrance Day to urge Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to "honour all those who served and loved their country" by making sure that there is a "liveable future."</p>

<p>The Metropolitan police said that the 32 days of unrest orchestrated by Just Stop Oil at the end of September and into October led to 677 arrests, 111 charges, and officers working a total of 9,438 more shifts.</p>

<p>Hertfordshire police faced criticism earlier this week when it was revealed that they had detained several media professionals, including a photographer, a documentary filmmaker, and the LBC radio journalist Charlotte Lynch.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The question "What is the aim of this police?" and photographs of a protester standing atop a gantry over the London orbital road with numerous officers watching appeared on the front page of Friday's Daily Mail, which added to the pressure on the police.</p>

<p>Outrage has been stirred by the M25 action this week, and not just because commuter travel has been hampered.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The most cumbersome task was disassembling the 11.5-tonne clock mechanism from 1859 so a specialised business in Cumbria, northwest England, could clean, repair, and re-oil every cog and pinion. Other modifications were purely cosmetic in nature.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The four clock faces are currently illuminated by 28 spherical LED lights, with a balance of green and white providing the most accurate representation of how they would have appeared in gas-lit Victorian days. When the parliament is in session, a taller LED light rests over the bells and emits a white glow.</p>

<p>Under the pressure of turmoil in financial markets brought on by economic proposals, Truss resigned after 44 days in office. Several critics have blamed Britain's departure from the EU for poor growth.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A study published on Wednesday in the journal Nature indicates that our mediaeval ancestors may have passed on the genes that once helped them survive the Black Death plague to us, only today these genes are making us more susceptible to certain diseases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The study analysed the DNA of centuries-old skeletons and found the mutations that helped people survive the plague that swept through Europe and killed at least 200 million. However, these same mutations are linked to auto-immune diseases including, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These diseases turn the immune system responsible for defending our body against disease and infections on us and start attacking the body’s own healthy tissues. “A hyperactive immune system may have been great in the past but in the environment today it might not be as helpful,” said Hendrik Poinar, an anthropology professor at McMaster University in Ontario and senior author of the study.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Black Death was the single deadliest event recorded in human history, the plague had swept throughout Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa and wiped out up to 50% of the population in the 14th century. Researchers theorised that seismic events must have impacted human evolution. Therefore, this study shows how germs shape us over time, said the researchers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Our genome today is a reflection of our whole evolutionary history”, said Luis Barreiro, a senior author of the research in the context of our adaptability to different germs over time. He and his colleagues at the University of Chicago, McMaster University in Ontario and the Pasteur Institute in Paris studied the ancient DNA from at least 200 people from London and Denmark.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The samples of bones, particularly teeth chosen for this study, were from people who died over 100 years that stretched before, during, and after the Black Death. The samples were collected from East Smithfield plague pits in London which was used for mass burials in 1348 and 1349 as well as some others from Denmark.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The scientists were able to identify four genes which, depending on the variant either protected against or increased susceptibility to the bacteria that causes bubonic plague.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The results were confirmed using the plague bacterium, Yersinia pestis and samples of blood were taken from people which showed that the helpful mutations were more able to resist the infection than those without, said a media report.&nbsp;<br />
Therefore, if a person had the right mutation their likelihood of surviving the plague mostly spread by the bite of an infected flea, was 40% higher, said the study. Today those plague-resisting mutations are more common than they were before the Black Death.&nbsp;</p>

Furthermore, a unique aspect of this research, he added, was to focus on a narrow time window around the event.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the more recent Covid-19 pandemic will not leave a similar legacy on human evolution said, the senior author attributed this to the much lower death rate when compared to Black Death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, Covid killed more elderly people who already had children or those who were past the point of having them, said Barreiro. Whereas evolution works through a person’s ability to reproduce and pass on the genes and since the bubonic plague killed so many across the age spectrum it had a huge impact, he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After splashing the soup, the duo glued themselves to the wall, much to the abject surprise of the crowd gathered in room 43 of the gallery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“What is worth more, art or life?” Plummer could be heard shouting after the incident while Holland added, “Is it worth more than food? More than justice? Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting or the protection of our planet and people?"</p>

<p>Informing about the incident, National Gallery in a statement said, "At just after 11 am this morning two people entered Room 43 of the National Gallery. The pair appeared to glue themselves to the wall adjacent to Van Gogh's Sunflowers (1888). They also threw a red substance - what appears to be tomato soup - over the painting."</p>

<p>"The room was cleared of visitors and police were called. Officers are now on the scene. There is some minor damage to the frame but the painting is unharmed," it read further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police said the offenders have been arrested for criminal damage and aggravated trespass.&nbsp;</p>

Mo Farah pulls out of London marathon due to injury concerns

<p>Emergency services rushed to the tarmac after two aircraft were involved in a "minor collision" at Heathrow on Wednesday evening, BBC reported after it was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the airport.&nbsp;</p>

<p>An investigation has been launched into the incident, which involved an Icelandair aircraft and Korean Air aircraft on the airfield. Footage of the same circulated on social media platforms and went viral.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report by Guardian mentioned that their defence and security editor, Dan Sabbagh, was among the passengers on the Korean Air flight to Seoul.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per a photo posted by Sabbagh, about 10 police cars and two fire engines were seen by the plane. In his posts, he mentioned that passengers deboarded the plane for "safety reasons".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report also mentioned that another passenger, whose name is Richard Taylor, said he saw that the left wing of the Korean Air plane clip the tail of the Icelandair while taxiing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It added, "We sent a number of resources to the scene including members of our hazardous area response team, a clinical team leader, a cycle responder and an incident response officer. We attended a reception centre for passengers but nobody required treatment or needed to be taken to hospital."&nbsp;</p>

<p>John Chilembwe, a Baptist preacher and educator who led an insurrection against British colonial control in Nyasaland, now Malawi, in 1915, is shown in the bronze resin sculpture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On John Chilembwe Day, which commemorates his death at the hands of colonial police and signals the start of the movement for Malawian independence, he is remembered in Malawi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The sculpture is the most recent in a series of exhibitions of modern art on the bare plinth that has been running since 1998 and is supervised by the mayor of London.</p>

<p>A huge ship in a bottle and a swirl of fake whipped cream with a cherry, fly, and drone on top were among the earlier installations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In Kambalu's sculpture, Chilembwe is accompanied by the European missionary John Chorley, a friend and supporter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was intended, according to the artist, to raise awareness of Britain's colonial history in southern Africa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The posts were made in a group chat where former police officer Wayne Couzens was also present. Couzens was sentenced to life in prison last year for the rape and murder of 33-year-old marketing executive Sarah Everard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Joel Borders, a former officer, 45, and constable Jonathon Cobban, 35, were found accountable for posting the abusive remarks on a public communications network.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The guys, who wore facemasks and helmets as they left court, will be sentenced on November 2.</p>

<p>William Neville, a 34-year-old active police officer, was found not guilty of all charges.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The defendants claimed that their texts from 2019 were just "banter" and disputed that they were highly insulting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Racist remarks and jokes about raping a female coworker and tasering animals, kids, and persons with disabilities were among them.&nbsp;</p>
