A top BSF official said on Saturday that a major underground tunnel that was found in Samba, originating from Pakistan, was constructed with the knowledge and "hand" of the neighbouring nation.

The remarks of BSF Inspector General (Jammu frontier) N S Jamwal came after the Border Security Force (BSF) detected a tunnel just beneath the Indo-Pak international border fence in Galar area of Samba.

He lauded the force personnel for their alertness in detecting the tunnel and said, "We were getting information that a tunnel was dug out from the Pakistan side in Samba. We were working on the information when one of our teams managed to locate it on Friday evening."

Jamwal, who rushed to inspect the tunnel on Saturday morning, told reporters that it was dug out from Pakistan side and was over 150 metres inside the Indian territory.

The tunnel's opening was properly reinforced with sandbags carrying markings of 'Karachi and Shakargarh', clearly indicating that it was dug out from Pakistan side and ended here, he said.

The IG said the preliminary investigation revealed that it was a freshly dug tunnel.

"There is a hand and knowledge of Pakistan establishment in such kind of construction," Jamwal said.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the BSF said the tunnel was unearthed in a special anti-tunnelling drive which was launched all along the IB in Jammu region in view of the prevailing security scenario in the recent times.

"A vigilant BSF patrol party, while carrying out in-depth scanning, detected a tunnel with a depth of approximately 25 feet and about 3-4 feet in diameter near border fencing in Galar area," it said.

The BSF said Pakistan-made sand bags carrying markings of 'Shakargarh' and 'Karachi' factories were found hiding the mouth of the tunnel.

"The opening of the tunnel is around 170 metres from the IB in the Indian territory in the field of a local farmer," it said, adding that the alert BSF troops foiled the nefarious design of Pakistan to help terrorists infiltrate into the Indian territory.

"The tunnel's origin is in Pakistan close to the IB. The efforts of alert BSF troops deployed in our multi-tiered counter-infiltration grid once again resulted in neutralizing the evil designs of terrorists in deep connivance with Pakistan establishment," the statement said.

The BSF said there have been regular inputs about the presence of terrorists in Pakistan border villages desperately looking to infiltrate into Indian territory but the troops foiled all attempts by the anti-national elements.

Floods have triggered in Pakistan after three days of monsoon rains. At least 90 lives have been lost, over 1,000 homes have been destroyed and thousands more have been displaced.

The flood situation in Pakistan is a complete disaster. In the north-west heavy downpour has overwhelmed the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A total of 23 lives have been lost in this province alone. In the north-east, the province of Punjab is no better, eight lives have been lost to incessant rains and flooding. In the south-west Balochistan too is reeling with flood and at least 15 people have died.

Right next to Balochistan is Sindh. The worst affected province in Pakistan, where 31 people have died here due to the annual monsoon deluge.

Karachi is the capital of Sindh province and Pakistan's financial hub. Karachi is now a submerged city. The residents say they are losing everything to rainwater.

At least eight people have died in Karachi alone. Mostly due to electrocution and drowning. Now, sewage water is flooding homes in low-lying areas and disaster relief is yet to arrive.

Shama Parveen, impacted by flooding said: "When the water reached neck high, we lifted our kids on shoulders and took refuge at the neighbour's house. We spent the whole night sitting at the roof, only we know how we had spent the night. My daughter-in-law's furniture is sinking at home, everything we had is sinking."

Every year --- many major cities around the world have to deal with floods. But that's mostly due to poor planning. In the case of Karachi ---- it's due to the city's outdated sewage systems combined with years of neglect by those in power and the current govt in Islamabad is only carrying this legacy forward.

Dawood Ibrahim is a designated international terrorist. He is the mastermind of 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts that killed 250 people. He runs huge racket of narcotics, betting, hawala and more. He is among most wanted criminals in India.

Even after all this, Dawood Ibrahim has evaded clutches of Indian agencies for decades. But had it not been for Pakistan's support, he would have been brought to justice long time ago. Indian agencies had detected long ago that Dawood stayed in a posh area of Karachi. He even enjoyed support and security from Pakistani Government. However, Pakistani Government has been falsely denying this.

Pakistan had to finally admit the obvious. And even the proof is out now. WION is in possession of information that irrefutably proves that Dawood lives in Karachi indeed.

Pakistan issues CNIC number to its citizens. CNIC number represents unique identity of each Pakistani. It is similar to Aadhaar number issued to Indians by Unique Identity Authority of India.

Dawood's CNIC number is 4 2 3 0 1-2 7 3 9 0 9 0 9.

What does Dawood's CNIC number signify?

Pakistan's CNIC number yields a lot of information. The first digit denotes the region where a person lives.

Number 1 denotes that the person stays in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Number 2 means that the citizen lives in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA)

Number 3 means the person lives in Punjab.

Number 4 means the CNIC card holder lives in Sindh (Karachi is capital of Sindh)

The numbers 5, 6 and 7 point towards residence in Baluchistan, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dawood's CNIC number starts with the digit 4. This puts him in Sindh province.

Second digit of the CNIC number denotes the division in the province. The third digit gives an idea about the Tehsil in the division and fourth tells us about the local union council the jurisdiction under which home of the person is located.

One glance at the CNIC number and we can easily determine that Dawood Ibrahim, the dreaded gangster and an international terrorist indeed has been residing in Karachi.

Dawood Ibrahim's home address is D-13, Block 4, KDA Scheme 5, Clifton Karachi, Pakistan.

It is located in the Defence Housing Authority area in Karachi. The area is considered very safe as many high ranking Pakistan Army officials stay here. His house has been barricaded and even a defence pickett is located in the premises. This means Dawood has been living in complete security.

This has exposed lies of Pakistani establishment that claimed for decades that Dawood Ibrahim did not stay in Pakistan and that it did not ensure that he remained safe.

What forced Pakistan to admit?

Pakistan is already in the cross-hairs of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global watchdog that keeps an eye on terror financing. FATF has powers to impose sanctions.

It is well-known that Pakistan provides all sort of support to terrorists and their organisations. These terror outfits then wreak havoc in places like Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistani activities brought it under the lens of FATF who put it under Grey List and asked it to take action against terrorists.

But Pakistan has famously been reluctant to eliminate terror network which it uses as 'tool of foreign policy'.

This compelled FATF to threaten Pakistan's inclusion in Black List that would have imposed economic sanctions on the country. This would have proved disastrous to Pakistani economy.

The cumulative pressure forced Pakistan to admit that Dawood stayed in Karachi.

The D-Company :

Dawood has been declared an international terrorist by India and the US. Dawood and his associates are masterminds of 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts that killed 250 people.

Dawood's empire is believed to be spread in West Asia, Europe to name few global regions. The D-Company has an extensive presence in international betting rackets, hawala transactions, money laundering and other illegal activities that even involve contract killings.

Law catches up with Dawood:

British authorities arrested some of Dawood's associates in 2018-2019. This included Haroon Aleem Yusuf, Ranjeet Singh Bindra and Jabeer Motiwala.

There is a possibility that the UK may extradite Jaber Motiwala to the US as he ran drug cartel and money laundering racket. A lower court has even ordered Motiwala's extradition.

WION has obtained exclusive information from questioning of Dawood's associates by British authorities. Even these exclusive bits of information say that Dawood has been living in Karachi and has been enjoying protection from Pakistan.

In spite of all this, Pakistan has not included Dawood's name in its list of terrorists. Pakistan's National Counter Terrorism Authority, which reports to Imran Khan, has not included Dawood in this list.

More proof of Dawood's stay in Pakistan :

WION has obtained details of properties and bank accounts of Dawood Ibrahim and his family. Dawood Ibrahim has a number of passports issued under various aliases.

Though the names change, all passports mention that Dawood stayed in Pakistan.

Another proof is Dawood's wife's passport. The don's wife Mahjabeen Shaikh looks after his business. Shaikh's passport has her CNIC number which again, is associated with Dawood's house in Clifton Karachi.

Exclusive: Here's the proof that Mumbai blasts mastermind Dawood Ibrahim lives in Pakistan

India has asked Pakistan to take credible action against Dawood Ibrahim wanted for 1993 Mumbai blasts and other terrorist listed by United Nations Security Council (UNSC)

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Anurag Shrivastava in response to a WION question said, “Pakistan has never taken any credible and verifiable action against terror entities or listed individuals, including the most wanted ones... Pakistan must take credible action and ensure that the listed individuals are prosecuted."

The development comes even as Pakistan earlier this month issues a Statutory Regulatory Orders (SRO) reproducing the listed terrorist by 1267 committee of UNSC which included Masood Azhar and Dawood Ibrahim. Pakistani foreign ministry later issued a clarification saying that doesn't mean acceptance of Dawood's presence in the country.

MEA said, "Pakistan’s assertion that the SRO does not mean that it admits to the presence of listed individuals on its territory" on these listed individuals "lays bare the insincerity of Pakistan in responding to legitimate expectations" that Islamabad will "track down international terrorists based on its soil".

Adding," Pakistan has not only maintained its opposition to this international consensus but it has also chosen not to act against them."

The UN list of terrorists, most of them being Pakistani citizens gives details such as passport number, house address. According to the list, Dawood who was listed as an international terrorist in 2003 has 3 houses in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi.

On June 29, four men carrying grenades attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange, and killed two guards along with a policeman before they were gunned down by security forces.

Khan referred to the response of Pakistan security forces as a “big victory”, even though three people had died.

In Balochistan, separatists claim that Pakistan has been exploiting the mineral rich area to improve life in the already rich provinces.

Over the course of the last few years, Pakistan has accused India of supporting separatists multiple times, which has been fervently denied by India.

Migratory birds have flocked to the wetlands of Pakistan's southern province of Sindh in greater numbers this year, and officials and observers link the increase to coronavirus lockdown measures that have kept hunters and bird catchers away.

Pakistan, which has recorded over 185,000 cases and 3,696 deaths related to the virus, lifted a month-long country-wide lockdown last month.

A survey conducted this year observed 741,042 migratory birds in Sindh province - a big jump from the 248,105 birds counted in 2019, said Sindh Wildlife Department's provincial conservator, Javed Ahmed Mahar.

Each year, approximately 40 percent of Sindh's wetlands are surveyed to gain insight into the migratory patterns and numbers of birds.

Migratory birds, among them pelicans, mallards, cranes and waders, stop in Pakistan on their way to and from Siberia.

Veteran Pakistani wildlife photographer Ahmer Ali Rizvi said coronavirus measures had helped the birds to settle in.

"The birds have stayed longer this year, maybe due to meagre disturbances by humans due to the lockdown everywhere," he said.

Mahar said that Sindh authorities had not recorded any wildlife-related crimes such as trapping, hunting or illegal trading in the province since the lockdown was imposed.

Hunting has been a problem in the area, threatening several rare species, including the houbara bustard.

"The illegal trade in the domestic markets is no more," he said.

There are more than 33 wildlife sanctuaries and one national park in Sindh, which is home to more than 300 bird species.

A senior office-bearer of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has been eliminated in an extra-judicial killing by paramilitary Rangers and other security agencies in Pakistan`s Karachi.Asif Pasha was in the custody of security forces since February 2019 and his bullet-ridden body was found in the super highway area in Karachi.

According to the details, the paramilitary Rangers had arrested Pasha on February 22, 2019. The following day, the Central Coordination Committee of MQM had issued a press statement to condemn the unlawful arrest of Pasha along with other activists.Paramilitary Rangers had briefed the local press and showed names of those they had arrested except Pasha whom they declared an absconder.

The MQM showed deep concern over it and feared his custodial death. In its SOS letter, the MQM also informed the United Nations and other international human rights organisations of the imminent threat to the life of Pasha. The family of Pasha had also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court for his safe return but despite the passage of over a year, justice was denied.

The family continued to look for him everywhere but to no avail. The party said that the concerns it expressed in its statement on February 25, 2019, about threats to the life of Pasha proved correct as his body was found dumped in the bushes in the superhighway area in Karachi.

The MQM said it is a "barbaric example" of custodial death at the hands of Pakistan`s armed forces. Local police informed Pasha`s elder brother about the body found dumped in the bushes.

The Central Coordination Committee of MQM said that the cold-blooded custodial death of Pasha was part of the ongoing genocide of Mohajirs in Karachi. The committee said that since the MQM has declared a combined struggle for the unity and solidarity of the permanent residents of Sindh and Mohajirs for their right of freedom, the ongoing state operation against them has been intensified and a series of custodial deaths are happening every day.

While Pasha died in the custody of the paramilitary rangers, a Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz (Areser group) activist Niaz Lashari was also tortured to death and his mutilated body was dumped in Gulshan-e Hadid in the east of Karachi. Lashari was also arrested from the premises of a court in Hyderabad earlier.

The MQM urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take cognisance of the custodial deaths of the missing political activists and to protect them as their lives are under serious threats.

It also appealed to the UN human rights bodies to take cognisance of the MQM and Jeay Sindh activists, and their enforced disappearances in Pakistan and to press Islamabad to end the atrocities.

Founder leader of MQM Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing of Pasha and called it a part of the ongoing genocide of Mohajirs in the name of state operation by Army, paramilitary rangers and security agencies. He appealed to the international community and human rights organisations to raise their voice against state brutalities on Mohajirs and other communities.
