Cardi B celebrates Joe Biden’s withdrawal after calling him selfish, backs Kamala Harris

The Simpsons have done it again!

On Sunday (Jul 21), US President Joe Biden announced that he was stepping back from the presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat nominee for the elections slated to take place in November.

Soon after Biden endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee, the internet was flooded with a range of reactions. Amid this, some users were quick to bring the famous American sitcom The Simpsons back into the discussion.

The world is well versed in the weird history of The Simpsons predicting the future and now that Harris' name has emerged as a potential Democrat nominee, netizens have come forward with a claim that the classic show has once again foretold the future.

Did The Simpsons predict Kamala Harris as the future US president?

After Biden's withdrawal and Kamala Harris' name coming up in the presidential race, a wave of social media reactions came in. However, what had many talking was an episode of The Simpsons that had Lisa becoming the President of the United States.

Pointing out the uncanny similarities between Kamala Harris and Lisa, many were shocked to see how The Simpsons predicted the US' recent political scenario decades ago.

The Simpsons episode titled ''Bart to the Future,'' which aired in March 2000, showed Lisa becoming the President of the United States, while Bart is a White House freeloader.

The particular episode showed Donald Trump as a future president and had Lisa Simpson becoming his successor, the first female US president. What's even more bizarre is that Lisa is wearing the same purple outfit that Harris wore during her sworn-in ceremony as Vice President in 2021.

The same clip went viral back in 2021 when Harris became VC. However, the only difference was that Lisa was the President and Harris was sworn in as Vice President. However, now it seems that Simpson's prediction may become true if Asian-origin Harris becomes the POTUS.

Netizens Reactions

Addressing the new predictions, one user wrote, ''The Simpsons are back at it again.''

Wait, what! Did The Simpsons predict Kamala Harris' presidential run?

US President Joe Biden has officially ended his 2024 presidential campaign in a letter posted on his campaign's Twitter account. Biden announced that he will fulfill his presidential duties until January but will not seek re-election.

US Elections | Biden says: 'In the best interests of the party and country that I stand down'

US President Joe Biden has become 'more receptive' to the idea of dropping out of the presidential race amid growing apprehensions regarding his declining cognitive capabilities.

Biden held discussions around the topic with some Democrat leaders, according to a report in the New York Times. Though Biden has not indicated that he is certainly opting out of the re-election bid, the Democrats said he had been willing to listen to 'rundowns of new and worrying polling data'.

“He’s being receptive. Not as defiant as he is publicly,” one senior Democratic adviser was quoted as saying.

“He’s gone from saying, ‘Kamala can’t win,’ to ‘Do you think Kamala can win?'. It’s still unclear where he’s going to land but seems to be listening."

Pelosi speaks to Biden

On Wednesday (Jul 17), reports emerged that former House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, held a private conversation with Biden where she told the president that he could not beat Donald Trump, come the November elections.

Notably, this phone call marked the second conversation between the California lawmaker and Biden since the president’s disastrous debate on June 27.

The actual date of the conversation was not clear, but the source described it as being within the last week. Pelosi and Biden also spoke in early July.

Additionally, former president Barack Obama, who steadfastly supported Biden during his term, has also now told allies that Biden needed to reconsider his re-election bid, according to news agency AFP.

Obama is of the view that there was no path to victory for the 81-year-old who should "seriously consider the viability of his candidacy".
Biden calls Kamala Harris a potential 'president' candidate for United States

While the US is gearing up for the 2024 Presidential Elections in the country, the Indians are pumped up for another interesting contest.

At the Republican National Convention (RNC)’s first meeting on Monday (Jul 15), Donald Trump announced JD Vance as his running mate- a move believed to change the way US elections were supposed to happen earlier.

It’s Republican’s JD Vance vs Democrat’s Kamala Harris now for the Vice President race. As for Indians, it means something entirely different.

Indians on social media are pitting for Tamil Nadu vs Andhra Pradesh because Harris’ mother hails from Chennai and Vance’s wife Usha Chilukuri had her roots in Andhra Pradesh.

US Elections 2024: It’s Tamil Nadu vs Andhra Pradesh for Indians

Kamala Harris' India connection made headlines both in the US and India when she was chosen as Joe Biden’s running mate in the 2021 elections. This time, it's Republican VP candidate JD Vance’s wife Usha who is attracting eyeballs for being of Indian origin.

Harris’ Indian roots can be traced to the Besant Nagar neighbourhood of Chennai where her mother was born, Shyalama Gopalan. Her mother moved to the US as a teen for a doctoral degree at the University of California Berkeley. There, she met Donald J. Harris of Jamaican descent. The couple got married in 1963 and welcomed daughter Kamala in 1964, followed by daughter Maya in 1967.

Usha Chilukuri’s parents, on the other hand, used to live in Andhra Pradesh’s Chilakaluripeta before moving to the US where Usha was born. She graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts with History as her major, Deccan Chronicle reported. In 2010, she completed her M.Phil in Early Modern History from the University of Columbia and completed her JD in Law from Yale Law School in 2013.

Usha worked as a legal clerk at the US Supreme Court and is now a successful legal associate with a private law firm in San Francisco.
