The American political&nbsp;landscape is changing faster than ever with&nbsp;Donald&nbsp;Trump's recent assassination bid, United States&nbsp;President Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential&nbsp;race and endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris, months ahead of the election.&nbsp;

In the latest development, Trump supporters also known as the&nbsp;MAGA (Make America Great Again) fanbase&nbsp;are making&nbsp;#CancelNetflix trend&nbsp;on X after Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings donated $7 million toward a super PAC backing Harris'&nbsp;presidential campaign.

According to media reports, this was the largest single donation ever made to a political campaign by Hastings. “After the depressing debate, we are in the game again,” Hastings told Variety.

Earlier this week, Hastings expressed his support for Harris on X, stating, "Congrats to Kamala Harris -- now it is time to win." According to the New York Times, Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, have contributed over $20 million to the Democratic Party in recent years.

Hastings' donation sparked outrage on social media and&nbsp;led&nbsp;to calls for a boycott of Netflix. Many of those advocating for the boycott identified themselves as conservatives or MAGA supporters, posting screenshots of their cancellations of the streaming service in response to Hastings' donation.

United States&nbsp;Vice President Kamala Harris appeared to be taking a balanced stand on the Israel-Hamas war, which is unusual for the world's most powerful nation, when she met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a rare take, Kamala Harris held the Israeli government responsible for the death of “far too many” civilians in the Gaza Strip and said “I will not be silent” as she also pledged “unwavering” support for the right of existence of the Jewish state.

In her first remarks on the Israel-Hamas war after the country's presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Harris on Thursday (July 25) said that “it is time for this war to end” and also argued that the war&nbsp;was not a “binary issue”.

“To everyone who has been calling for a ceasefire, and to everyone who yearns for peace, I see you and I hear you,” said the 59-year old Harris,&nbsp;just after Netanyahu departed the White House.

“What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating — the images of dead children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third or fourth time. We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering and I will not be silent," Harris said.

She said that she will "always" make sure that Israel is able to defend itself and added, “There has been hopeful movement in the talks to secure an agreement on this deal. And as I just told Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is time to get this deal done."

“Let’s get the deal done so we can get a cease-fire to end the war. Let’s bring the hostages home, and let’s provide much-needed relief to the Palestinian people. And ultimately, I remain committed to a path forward that can lead to a two-state solution," the country's vice president further said.

<h2>Kamala Harris says 'dire humanitarian situation in Gaza'</h2>

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee slammed Hamas and said she will continue working for the US citizens held hostage in Gaza.

“On October 7, Hamas triggered this war when it massacred 1,200 Innocent people, including 44 Americans. Hamas has committed horrific acts of sexual violence and took 250 hostages,” Harris said.

“There are American citizens who remain captive in Gaza:&nbsp;Sagui Dekel-Chen,&nbsp;Hersch Goldberg-Polin, Edan Alexander. Keith Seigel, Omer Neutra,' she added.

“I have met with the families of these American hostages multiple times now. And I’ve told them each time they are not alone, and I stand with them. And President Biden and I are working every day to bring them home," the vice president further said..

She elaborated further and said, “I told [Netanyahu] that I will always ensure that Israel is able to defend itself including from Iran and Iran-backed militias, such as Hamas and Hezbollah. From when I was a young girl, collecting funds to plant trees for Israel, to my time in the United States Senate and now at the White House, I’ve had an unwavering commitment to the existence of the State of Israel, to its security and to the people of Israel.”

“I also expressed with the prime minister my serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians. And I made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there with over 2 million people facing high levels of food insecurity and half a million people facing catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity," she added.&nbsp;

Kamala Harris' double stand: US VP extends support to Israel, but calls for ceasefire, decries Gaza killings

The flux in the American politics after President Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance against his predecessor and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on June 28 reached pinnacle on July 13 when Trump survived an assassination attempt. A <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/how-trump-assassination-attempt-has-turbocharged-his-presidential-re-run-740763">turbocharged</a> Republican campaign appeared all too belligerent against an ageing Joe Biden, and just then over a week later on July 21, the serving US president announced his withdrawal from the race to the White House.

Hours later,&nbsp;Kamala Harris, a smiling vice president who once served as a&nbsp;prosecutor-general, emerged as the face of Democrats against Donald Trump.&nbsp;

The India-US ties, at least since the time when the two countries shed off the nuclear sanction baggage during Bill Clinton's presidency in the early 2000s, have largely been bipartisan. Whether it's a Democrat or Republican in the White House, the Washington-Delhi ties have been marked with a larger pattern of consistent elevation to strategic relevance.&nbsp;

In the last few months, the ties between the two countries suffered after allegations were levelled at India for an assassination plot against Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the US.

As India-US ties continue to face the yesteryear's challenges underscored by Washington's consistent <a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/us-travel-advisory-on-india-warns-americans-against-visiting-kashmir-manipur-other-indian-regions-744223">lecturing on New Delhi's purported record</a> of democratic freedoms especially&nbsp;since the penultimate year of Biden presidency, let's take a look at what a potential Kamala Harris presidency might look like for India-US ties.&nbsp;

<h2>On Jammu and Kashmir</h2>

Harris has had strong views of the state of Jammu and Kashmir but has fallen short of holding a defining position on the same.

When India abrogated article 370 of constitution that gave the region a semi-autonomous status, Harris said that the US must "remind the Kashmiris that they are not alone in the world. We are keeping a track on the situation. There is a need to intervene if the situation demands."

<h2>On India-US ties</h2>

Harris has described the India-US relationship as "unbreakable".

In 2017, she tweeted a welcome message for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he visited the United States, "I welcome Indian PM @NarendraModi to the United States and reaffirm the unbreakable bonds between our two nations."

India has some inkling of what to expect from a potential Kamala Harris administration, since she is already the serving vice president. It is unlikely that her policies will differ greatly from Biden's.

But regardless of exact policies towards India, the presence of an Indian-American at the highest echelon of American politics would enhance people-to-people links between the two countries.

<h2>On immigration</h2>

Harris has served as a lead co-sponsor for legislation to increase the number of green cards that could go to countries like India and China. It ultimately did not pass but the proposed legislation ended up underscoring Harris as an important figure for immigrants seeking permanent residency in the United States.&nbsp;

Barack Obama endorses Kamala Harris as Democrat nominee for presidential race

Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is narrowing the gap with Republican rival Donald Trump. A series of polls conducted after Joe Biden's exit from the race show a head-to-head contest on roughly equal footing.

US Elections: Trump vs Harris: Who's more favored?

Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democrat nominee for the November elections. In a video shared by Harris on Friday, the Obamas could be heard making their endorsement formal for the vice President.

Vice President Kamala Harris made history as she sashayed into the werkroom of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars this week. She is the first sitting Vice President to grace the iconic stage. Her message? A rallying cry for voter registration and a fierce stand for LGBTQ+ rights.

"Every day, we see our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right to be who we are and love who we love openly and with pride," Harris, 59, said in the promo, released on Thursday. "So as we fight back against these attacks, let’s all remember, no one is alone."

The segment, scheduled to air at the beginning of the season nine finale on Friday, saw Harris flanked by RuPaul judges Michelle Visage and Jamal Sims, along with LGBTQ+ icons Lance Bass, Leslie Jones, and Cheyenne Jackson.

"We are all in this together," Harris added. "Your vote is your power. Make sure your voice is heard this November and register to vote at vote.gov."

Jackson then added, “Can I get an amen?!” To which, Jones replied, “You betta vote!” before the group of six broke out in dance.

Fox News invites Donald Trump & Kamala Harris to debate on September 17

Donald Trump, on Wednesday (July 25) launched a volley of attacks against US Vice President Kamala Harris in his first rally since she became the de facto Democratic Party nominee for November's election.

Calling her a "radical left lunatic" Trump, speaking at the rally in North Carolina, claimed that the presumptive nominee for the Democratic presidential ticket favours the "execution" of babies.

"If Kamala Harris gets in, she would be the most radical, far left extremist ever to occupy the White House times ten. There's never been a lunatic like this in the White House, and we've had some bad ones."

<h2>Baby 'execution,' 'lunatic' and more: Trump targets Harris</h2>

Describing Kamala Harris as the "ultra liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe," Trump slammed her for her pro-abortion stance.

He claimed that Harris wanted "abortions in the eighth and ninth month of pregnancy," as well as "right up until birth and even after birth."

Trump described this as "The execution of a baby."

"She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country," and&nbsp;"We're not going to let that happen," he told the crowd.

Accusing her of covering up Joe Biden's "mental unfitness," he said that Democratic Party bosses were behind the incumbent US President's decision to step down from the election race.

"So now they bring in this one who's worse than him. She's worse than him because he's a fake liberal. You know, he wasn't that liberal. He was fake. She's a real liberal. She really is a real liberal. She's much worse than him."

Obama in touch with Kamala Harris, set to endorse her for president soon: Reports

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston on Wednesday (Jul 24) slammed JD Vance, who is Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's running mate, for his "childless cat ladies" remark. Vance's comments are old but have gone recently viral.&nbsp;

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the "Friends" actress posted a screenshot of a social media post which showed Ron Filipkowski sharing a 2021 "Tucker Carlson Tonight" interview clip with Vance.&nbsp;

Alongside the 28-second clip, Filipkowski, who is the editor-in-chief of the MeidasTouch Network, wrote: "JD Vance says women who haven't given birth like Kamala Harris are 'childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives,' and have 'no direct stake' in America."&nbsp;

While replying to the video, Aniston wrote, "I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States. All I can say is… Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day."&nbsp;

"I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too," she added.&nbsp;

Similar to Aniston, who opened up about her fertility struggles in a cover story for Allure in 2022, Vance's comments didn't go well with dozens of netizens, who shared their strong opinions on social media and criticised&nbsp;it.&nbsp;

<h2>Why did Vance say 'childless cat ladies'?&nbsp;</h2>

He made these remarks during "Tucker Carlson Tonight" show which was aired on Fox News in July 2021. At that time, Vance was running for Ohio's US Senate seat.&nbsp;

Vance had said, "We are effectively run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too."&nbsp;

"It's just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," he added.&nbsp;

He added, "And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"&nbsp;

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston on Wednesday (Jul 24) slammed JD Vance, who is Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's running mate, for his "childless cat ladies" remark. Vance's comments are old but have gone recently viral. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the "Friends" actress posted a screenshot of a social media post which showed Ron Filipkowski sharing a 2021 "Tucker Carlson Tonight" interview clip with Vance. Alongside the 28-second clip, Filipkowski, who is the editor-in-chief of the MeidasTouch Network, wrote: "JD Vance says women who haven't given birth like Kamala Harris are 'childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives,' and have 'no direct stake' in America." While replying to the video, Aniston wrote, "I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States. All I can say is… Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day." Also read: Obama not keen on endorsing Kamala Harris? He made these remarks during "Tucker Carlson Tonight" show which was aired on Fox News in July 2021. At that time, Vance was running for Ohio's US Senate seat. Vance had said, "We are effectively run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too." "It's just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," he added. He added, "And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"
