Former President Donald Trump’s social media fortune is decreasing.

The value of Trump’s stake in Truth Social (Owned by Trump) has decreased by $900 million since Vice President Kamala Harris entered the race for the White House.&nbsp;

Trump Media &amp; Technology Group’s share price has fallen by about 23% since then, with another sharp drop on Thursday (Aug 1) amid a broader market selloff.

Trump’s stake in the conservative social media company was just over $4 billion as of July 19, the final trading day before President Joe Biden exited the race and endorsed Harris. It has since fallen to approximately $3.1 billion.

Notably, the selloff comes as national and battleground polls show a tight fight between Trump and Harris.

In June, Trump Media’s share price popped momentarily following Biden’s disastrous debate performance. The stock spiked again last month after Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Interestingly, at the same time, Trump’s Truth Social struggles to gain traction in the social media world.

According to Comscore data analysed by TheRighting, in the month of June, Truth Social’s unique visitors came down by 38% year-over-year, marking the platform’s third straight month of declines.

Trump Media’s share price has experienced significant turbulence since going public in late March.&nbsp;

Experts have characterised Trump Media as a meme stock, trading on hype and momentum rather than on fundamentals.

It may be noted here, Trump is the leading figure in the company, owning 114.75 million shares, serving as its chairman and the most popular user on Truth Social.&nbsp;

Trump’s net worth is estimated at $5.9 billion by Bloomberg. Still after the recent selloff, Trump Media is valued at $5.1 billion.

Experts have warned the company is significantly overestimated because it makes very little revenue and Truth Social remains a tiny player in social media.&nbsp;

However, Trump Media’s market value remains more than twice that of JetBlue, which is valued at $2.2 billion. This is despite JetBlue generating 2,300 times more revenue last year than Trump Media’s modest $4.1 million.

'Fake, fake': Trump accuses Harris of 'turning black' for political gain; Kamala calls attack 'same old show'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed a reporter for asking him why Black voters should trust him during an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists' annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday (July 31).

ABC's Rachel Scott questioned the former president about why Black voters should trust him despite his past comments where he called Black journalists 'losers' and 'stupid'.

"You have used words like 'animal' and 'rabid' to describe Black district attorneys. You've attacked Black journalists—calling them losers, saying the questions that they asked are quote, 'stupid' and 'racist'. "Why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?" Scott asked.

She called it the "elephant in the room" after expressing gratitude to Trump for attending and pointing out that many people believed he shouldn't be at the convention.

"First of all, I don't think I have ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner, the first question. You don't even say Hello! how are you? Are you with ABC? Because I think they are a fake news network and a terrible network. And I think it's disgraceful that I came here in good spirits. I love the Black population of this country. I have done so much for the Black population of the country, including employment...," Trump responded.

Trump said that either one is respected by him, but not by Harris, because she was Indian all the way, and then suddenly, a turn was made and she became a Black person.

The NABJ's decision to interview Trump has caused anger among its members. While some believe Trump shouldn't be given a platform,&nbsp;others argue that voters need to see him as he truly is so that they can make an informed decision about supporting him. Considering Trump's efforts to win over Black voters, it is understandable why some see this interview as necessary.

U.S. Elections: Trump questions if Kamala Harris is 'Indian' or 'Black

JD Vance had rubbed the wrong furs with his remarks on 'cat ladies', and Kamala Harris is milking it like a happy kitten, with her supporters organising events&nbsp;to promote her campaign for US president.

Vance, the running mate of Republican candidate Donald Trump, set the cat among pigeons after defending his original remarks made in 2021 that appeared to target a now-very agitated group: pet-owning women without children.

He had said in 2021 that Democratic politicians were "a bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives".

Those remarks were raked up online recently, leading to sharp reactions from Hollywood celebrities like Jennifer Aniston. A meme fest followed targeting the 39-year-old Republican vice presidential candidate, who later defended it as a "sarcastic comment."&nbsp;

Now, pet lovers who call themselves "cat ladies" are organising video calls to support Harris. On Tuesday, such a Zoom call was organised by the group Pet Lovers Fur Kamala.&nbsp;

Harris, who is married to Douglas Emhoff, does not have children of her own. Emhoff has two children from his previous marriage.

In the 2021 remarks, Vance had said that the US was being run "by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too".

"The entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. How does it make any sense we've turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?"

Last week, in different interviews, Vance said his comments from 2021 were not aimed at those who do not have children. "People are focusing so much on the sarcasm and not on the substance of what I actually said. The substance of what I said, Megyn...it's true," Vance told host Megyn Kelly last Friday (July 26).

Trump backs Vance in 'childless cat ladies' controversy, says he said that because 'family is good'

The United States is less than 100 days away from voting for a new President and to mark the occasion both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris came with renewed attacks at weekend campaign events around the country. Kamala Harris called Donald Trump "just plain weird," while Trump labeled Harris "low IQ" and "radical". Watch to know more.

US Presidential Race: Polls show Donald Trump's shrinking lead over Harris

The 100-day sprint to the US election began on July 28, the final act in a campaign transformed by an assassination attempt and the stunning exit of President Joe Biden. Watch in for more details!

US: Race to White House enters final 100 days, campaigning peaks

Here are a few numbers that help understand how rapidly America’s political landscape has changed since President Joe Biden gave up his bid to run for a second term just 107 days before the November elections and endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

She hit the ground running with a speed and efficiency few in her Democratic Party would have predicted and left many in the Republican Party awed and bewildered.

The de-facto presidential nominee of the Democrats set a string of records. Within 24 hours after Biden’s announcement, the Harris campaign netted the largest fund-raising haul ever in that time period: $81 million. By the end of the week, contributions totalled $200&nbsp;million, from 1.4 million donors, according to the campaign.

Roughly two-thirds of those who opened their wallets did so for the first time in the 2024 election cycle – a sign of enthusiasm and hope from voters who had feared the 81-year-old Biden could not lead the Democrats to victory.

On the Sunday (Jul 28) after Biden’s announcement, a group called Win With Black Women hosted a video call to support Harris and was joined by 44,000 people who pledged more than $1.5 million to her campaign. Four days later, a similar call aimed at white women attracted 160,000 participants and brought in $8.5 million.

“Kamala Broke Zoom,” proclaimed the headline over a cable news story which described the event as a world record.

Determined to keep the momentum, Harris wasted no time to hit the campaign trail. Her first stop was in Milwaukee, just a week after the end of the Republican National Convention at which former president Donald Trump formally accepted his party’s nomination as its presidential candidate.

The mood at the RNC was joyous. Trump had survived an assassination attempt a few days before the convention and he and most of his followers ascribed his survival – a bullet nicked his ear – to divine intervention. Party faithful and many political analysts predicted that election victory was all but certain.

Few could have imagined that boisterous crowds of fired-up Democrats would chant for a Harris victory in the same city a few days later.

While she is not the official Democratic nominee yet – that will happen at next month’s Democratic National Convention – she has been endorsed by every single party heavyweight, from former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/kamala-harris-raised-200-million-in-first-week-of-presidential-campaign-744981">Also read |&nbsp;Kamala Harris raised $200 million in first week of presidential campaign</a>

Unlike Trump, Harris has yet to pick a running mate for the campaign. With just over 100 days to go, time is of the essence but so is thorough vetting and careful consideration. That has become obvious with Trump’s choice of his running mate, JD Vance.

His controversial statements on the role of women and the size of families have made headlines around the country and the world, creating cartoons and social network memes.

The most damaging comment came from an interview with the right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson while he was running for the Ohio Senate seat in 2021. The video clip surfaced a few weeks ago and has circulated dozens of times. Vance said: “We’re effectively run in this country – via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs – by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they have made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

As statements causing offence to millions of potential voters go, this ranks very high on the list. About a third of all households in the US&nbsp;own at least one cat and their number is estimated at 93 million. The Trump campaign no longer scoffs at the idea of a Harris victory and neither do conservative pundits or even the Wall Street Journal, America’s most widely circulated conservative newspaper. Its Sunday edition carried a front-page story headlined Harris Erases Trump’s Lead. Sub-headline: WSJ poll shows race effectively tied with three months to go after Biden’s exit.

On the opinion page of the same issue (July 27), veteran columnist Peggy Noonan, whose insightful writing is widely respected across the political spectrum, headlined her piece The Kamala Harris Surprise and wrote “I had long thought Kamala Harris couldn’t beat Donald Trump. That’s wrong. She can. We’re a 50-50 country, each side gets 40 going in, you fight for the rest but it can always go either way.”

In the Democrats’ favour in the rhetorical battle over the next few month is an argument the Republicans have used endlessly to attack Biden: his age. At 81, so the chorus went, he was too old to serve another four years. Now, Trump, at 78, will be the oldest person in US history to run for the presidency. Kamala Harris is 59.

Here are a few numbers that help understand how rapidly America’s political landscape has changed since President Joe Biden gave up his bid to run for a second term just 107 days before the November elections and endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

By the end of the week, contributions totalled $200 million, from 1.4 million donors, according to the campaign. Also read | Kamala Harris raised $200 million in first week of presidential campaign Unlike Trump, Harris has yet to pick a running mate for the campaign. Vance said: “We’re effectively run in this country – via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs – by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they have made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.” As statements causing offence to millions of potential voters go, this ranks very high on the list. About a third of all households in the US own at least one cat and their number is estimated at 93 million. There are no statistics on how many cat owners are childless women but one angry woman reacted with a social network posting of a photograph of music superstar Taylor Swift with her cat draped around her neck. If Kamala Harris were to beat Trump in the elections, she would follow up her “firsts” in Zoom calls and fundraising with more firsts. In run-up to elections, Kamala Harris is changing America’s political landscape

US presidential race enters new phase with 100 days until Election Day

The Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris presidential race is heating up. On Saturday, the two political rivals traded barbs from afar, calling each other names. While Harris called Donald Trump "just plain weird," Trump in exchange painted her as an "evil," and "unhinged" person.

This war of words marked a tumultuous week in the 2024 presidential race.

<h2>'He said- she said'</h2>

Harris' comments, as per Reuters, came just a few days after she ascended to the top of the presidential nominee list after being backed by US President Joe Biden.

During a private fundraiser headlined by singer-songwriter James Taylor, Harris criticised Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance's rhetoric was "just plain weird."&nbsp;

Harris called herself an "underdog," and said, "We are the underdogs in this race, but this is a people-powered campaign."

"Donald Trump has been resorting to some wild lies about my record. And some of what he and his running mate are saying, well, it's just plain weird," she said.

The phrase 'weird' as per the report represents a new Democratic strategy, with the Harris campaign portraying Trump as "old and quite weird."

At the fundraiser, Harris, 59, contrasted her prosecutorial background with Trump's criminal record, framing her campaign as forward-looking in contrast to what she termed 'felon' Trump's desire to return the country to a "dark past."

Hours later, Trump retaliated at a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, accusing Harris of wanting to "destroy the country" and attacking her stance on public safety and immigration. Trump, 78, described Harris as "even worse" than Biden, declaring that her presidency would end the American dream.

"If a crazy liberal like Kamala Harris gets in, the American dream is dead," Trump said.

Trump's speech was filled with grievances and baseless claims about election fraud.

Harris' candidacy has revitalised the Democratic campaign, which had struggled with doubts about Biden's viability.

Since Biden's exit, Harris has raised over $100 million, including $1.4 million at Saturday's fundraiser attended by around 800 supporters.&nbsp;

Last week, United States President Joe Biden exited the 2024 presidential race and endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination. Since then, she has launched her&nbsp;campaign in earnest. However, recent polls indicate she is struggling to gain support among male voters.

A new poll by the Economist and YouGov, conducted between July 21 and 23, revealed that only 39 per cent of men would vote for Harris, compared to 47 per cent for former President Donald Trump. The poll surveyed 1,435 registered voters with a margin of error of 3.1 per cent.

Another poll by Emerson College, conducted between July 22 and 23, showed similar results, with male voters in most swing states favouring Trump over Harris.&nbsp;

Kamala Harris faces uphill battle: Polls show potential Democratic prez pick struggles to win over male voters

United States President Joe Biden endorsing his Vice President&nbsp;Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the presidential race, minutes after dropping his re-election bid was a big 'f**k you' to ex-president&nbsp;Barack Obama, a report in the&nbsp;New York Post has claimed.&nbsp;

Biden was forced by the Obamas and&nbsp;other senior Democrat leaders to drop out of the presidential race, multiple reports have claimed in the aftermath. Although the US president&nbsp;said he was dropping out in "defence of the democracy" and for the better of the nation, the Democrat has reportedly remained salty over the treatment meted out to him.&nbsp;

Hence, in an attempt to salvage the situation and assert some of his authority, Biden immediately endorsed Harris, which put the Obamas on the back foot.

“It was Joe’s big f–k you,” a source close to the Biden family cited by the publication said. “Joe reportedly&nbsp;said, ‘If I’m out, then I am endorsing her.'”

The report claimed that Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted to hold a "mini primary" which they believe, Harris wouldn't have&nbsp;won.&nbsp;

Another source said that Biden plans on taking an active role in Harris'&nbsp;campaign to further rub in on the former president.&nbsp;

In a video shared by Harris on her social media accounts, the&nbsp;Obamas could be heard formally endorsing the incumbent vice president.

“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office," said Barack.&nbsp;

“I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you,” Michelle said, whilst adding: “This is going to be historic.”

“Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I’m looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road,” the vice president said.

Apart from the Obamas, Harris has now received the endorsement from Pelosi,&nbsp;Chuck Schumer, the US Senate majority leader,&nbsp;Hakeem Jeffries, House minority leader and numerous other top Democrats.

With Obama in her corner, next month's Democratic National Convention in Chicago could see Harris being formally named as the party nominee - making her the first India-American woman to fight for the top job.&nbsp;&nbsp;

United States President Joe Biden endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the presidential race, minutes after dropping his re-election bid was a big 'f**k you' to ex-president Barack Obama, a report in the New York Post has claimed. Biden was forced by the Obamas and other senior Democrat leaders to drop out of the presidential race, multiple reports have claimed in the aftermath. Although the US president said he was dropping out in "defence of the democracy" and for the better of the nation, the Democrat has reportedly remained salty over the treatment meted out to him. Hence, in an attempt to salvage the situation and assert some of his authority, Biden immediately endorsed Harris, which put the Obamas on the back foot. “It was Joe’s big f–k you,” a source close to the Biden family cited by the publication said. “Joe reportedly said, ‘If I’m out, then I am endorsing her.'” The report claimed that Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted to hold a "mini primary" which they believe, Harris wouldn't have won. Another source said that Biden plans on taking an active role in Harris' campaign to further rub in on the former president. I’m looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road,” the vice president said. Apart from the Obamas, Harris has now received the endorsement from Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, the US Senate majority leader, Hakeem Jeffries, House minority leader and numerous other top Democrats. With Obama in her corner, next month's Democratic National Convention in Chicago could see Harris being formally named as the party nominee - making her the first India-American woman to fight for the top job.
