On the 25th of May, Iran successfully tested its most advanced Khorramshahr class 4 ballistic missile called the Kheibar. With a strike range of 2000km, this new precision-guided missile can pack a serious punch as it can carry a 1,500 kg warhead. Countries well beyond Israel and large parts of Eastern Europe are now in the crosshairs of Iran with this missile. But what has worried a lot of Western military strategists are claims that the Kheibar missile has a very small signature on the radar which makes it hard to detect and intercept. So how good is this new missile by Iran? And how does it impact the security situation in West Asia? Mohammed Saleh gets you the details.

In 2017, Israel successfully demonstrated a naval variant of the system named c-dome, destroying multiple airborne targets in a live-fire test. The c-dome protects ships and other sea-based strategic assets. The c-dome uses the combat-proven iron dome interceptor, which has already achieved more than 1,500 successful interceptions. The system is designed to effectively protect combat vessels against a large set of modern threats. As per rafael, one of israel's three largest defence companies, the c-dome handles saturation attacks by engaging multiple targets simultaneously. Reaction time is short, and enables automatic and semi-automatic engagements. C-dome components include a multi-round launcher assembly loaded with vertically-launched interceptors. The launcher is installed under the ship deck. The c-dome utilises the ship's own surveillance radar, and does not require a dedicated fire control radar.

Iran on Thursday claimed that it has successfully test-fired a ballistic missile with a potential range of 2,000 kilometres (1,242 miles), which, it said, can cover the bases of its arch-rival Israel and the United States in the region. The announcement came two days after Israel's chief of armed forces raised the prospect of "action" against Tehran over its nuclear programme. The long-range missile dubbed Kheibar—which is the latest version of the Khorramshahr and Iran’s longest-range missile to date — was unveiled alongside a replica of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, in a live broadcast on state television. According to state media, Kheibar is “a liquid fuel missile with a range of 2,000 kilometres and a 1,500-kilogram warhead.” The speed of the tactical missile is said to have the ability to “reach Mach 16 outside the atmosphere and Mach 8 inside the atmosphere.” According to state media, the speed of the high-mobility tactical missile “can reach Mach 16 outside the atmosphere and Mach 8 inside the atmosphere.” The name draws references to the ancient town of Khaybar, which is located in modern-day Saudi Arabia. The place is known for a decisive 7th-century battle in which the army of Prophet Muhammad defeated thousands of Jewish residents, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported. <p>Last week, Roger Waters, the co-founder and former lyricist of the rock band Pink Floyd, drew flak for donning a 'Nazi-style uniform' at a concert in Berlin.</p>

<p>As per the local media reports, Waters performed at Germany's Mercedes-Benz Arena on May 17, where the words, "The show will start in 10 minutes and a court in Frankfurt has ruled that I am not an antisemite, just to be clear, I condemn antisemitism unreservedly," were projected on a screen.</p>

<p>On Friday (26 May), Berlin police released a statement saying that they were investigating Waters for incitement to hatred.</p>

<p>As per the images circulated on social media, Waters could be seen wearing a long, black coat with red armbands on stage at the Mercedes-Benz arena last week.</p>

<p>"We are investigating on suspicion of incitement to public hatred because the clothing worn on stage could be used to used to glorify or justify Nazi rule, thereby disturbing the public peace," police spokesman Martin Halweg told AFP, confirming an earlier report by Jewish News.</p>

<p>"The clothing resembles the clothing of an SS officer," Halweg added.</p>

<p>Waters is known to be a pro-Palestinian activist and has also been condemned for holding anti-Jewish views.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In recent weeks, the singer has performed in several German cities as part of his "This Is Not A Drill" tour.</p>

<p>The crooner has denied the anti-Semitism condemnations arguing that he was demonstrating against Israeli policies and not the Jewish people.</p>

<p>As per AFP reports, at the controversial Berlin concert, Waters flashed the names of several deceased people on a large screen, including that of Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who died in a Nazi concentration camp.</p>
