As Afghanistan looks forward to resuming international transit, a contract has been signed between the Taliban authorities and a United Arab Emirates (UAE) company, to provide ground handling services at three airports in the country, officials said.&nbsp;

As reported by TOLO News, the country's first deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said in an address that security is good in the country. He added that the Islamic Emirate is ready to cooperate with investing countries.&nbsp;

Baradar spoke at the signing of a contract with UAE company GAAC to run ground operations at three Afghan airports. He also told reporters in Kabul that his administration was renewing an airport ground handling agreement with the UAE.&nbsp;

"Afghanistan has been affected by wars and extreme poverty, and now we are rebuilding it. We seek good relations with all countries and urge them to invest in Afghanistan to help its strife-torn people," Baradar said.&nbsp;

During the troops' withdrawal by the US from Afghanistan last year in August, the airport in the capital Kabul was trashed. At that time, tens of thousands of people also evacuated. Some domestic and international flights are still operating out of the facility.&nbsp;

UAE firm GAAC signed a new 18-month contract covering three airports: Kabul, Kandahar and Herat. GAAC has provided these services at Kabul airport since November 2020.&nbsp;

Ibrahim Morafi, regional director of GAAC, told AFP that we "are not a new face here". He added, "But GAAC signing the new contract will give confidence to international airlines to resume flights to Afghanistan."&nbsp;

Although, he didn't reveal when such flights were expected to resume.&nbsp;

The move comes after Tata Sons took control of Air India from the government. In the revised guidelines issued on April 19, DGCA apparently removed a clause that gave the airline advantage over other private carriers.&nbsp;

The deleted clause stated: "Due consideration shall be given to operational plans submitted by Air India before allocation of the traffic rights to other eligible applicants."&nbsp;

The fresh circular read: "The central government may at its discretion grant or deny allocation of traffic rights to any air transport undertaking having regard to its preparedness to undertake such operations, viability of the operations on a particular route, overall interests of the civil aviation sector etc."&nbsp;

Authorities have said that airlines will no longer be needed to keep three seats vacant for medical emergencies.&nbsp;

Wherever needed, security personnel at airports are allowed to resume pat-down searches of passengers.&nbsp;

They also said that Airlines may carry a few additional PPE protective gears, sanitiser and N-95 masks, to handle any respiratory infections related to cases on air.&nbsp;

Wearing face masks and following basic restrictions for coronavirus (COVID-19) such as wearing of maks, using sanitiser, etc still mandatory at airports and on flights.&nbsp;

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the operator of IGIA, expects to connect to over 60 international destinations after the resumption of regular overseas flights.&nbsp;

While mentioning the resumption of regular international flights, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, on March 8, had said that with this step, I am confident the sector will reach new heights".&nbsp;

On November 26 last year, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had announced the resumption of scheduled international passenger flights from December 15, 2021.&nbsp;

However, a few days later, the decision was revoked following a surge in coronavirus cases due to the Omicron variant.&nbsp;

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued an order which stated that the country is all set to resume regular international flights from Sunday (March 26) after almost a gap of two years.&nbsp;

The country had suspended international flights since March 2020, due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. But all international flights will now operate at 100 per cent capacity, the aviation ministry has said.&nbsp;

In a tweet, the Airports Authority of India noted: "In consideration of the decreasing cases of the #Covid19 virus &amp; successful vaccination drive @MoCA_GoI has decided to resume the International Scheduled Air Operations from 27th March 2022."&nbsp;

The order said that Scheduled Foreign Carriers have applied for approval of their international schedule. The Summer Schedule 2022 is effective from March 27&nbsp;till October 29 this year.&nbsp;

Important to note that a total of 60 foreign airlines of 40 countries including Mauritius, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, Iraq and others have been given the approval to operate 1783 frequencies to/from India during Summer Schedule 2022.&nbsp;

A few new airlines which include India Salam Air, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, Qantas and American airline, are to begin airline operations with India.&nbsp;

After two years, India to resume regular international flights from March 27

The Indian government on Tuesday said it has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services in the country from March 27 as part of the summer schedule 2022.

The government had suspended operations of international commercial passenger services on March 23, 2020, amid&nbsp;the coronavirus outbreak.&nbsp;

The government said after increased global vaccination coverage and in consultation with stakeholders it decided to resume scheduled commercial flights in India.

The government added that the flight operations will be subject to "strict adherence to the ministry of health &amp; family welfare guidelines for international travel. India had planned to resume flight operations in December last year but it had to be pushed back due surge in Omicron variant cases in the country and across the world.

The Pakistan government has allowed resumption of international flight operations to and from all international airports in the country, except Gwadar and Turbat airports, from Saturday.

Spokesman for the Aviation Division Abdul Sattar Khokhar said in a statement on Friday that the permission for international flight operations would be subject to restrictions and limitations as decided by the competent authority from time to time in the light of the current COVID-19 situation and implementation of health protocols, reports Dawn news.

Additionally, cargo, special and diplomatic flights would continue to be authorised as per procedure in vogue, the spokesman said.

Three international flights, carrying hundreds of passengers, had a narrow escape from a mid-air collision in the Delhi flight information region on Sunday after multiple auto-generated warnings by&nbsp;the Air Traffic Control (ATC), according to reports.

The pilots of the three flights will be summoned by the Aircraft Accident Incident Bureau (AAIB), sources in the bureau told news agency ANI.

The three foreign airlines - Dutch carrier KLM, Taiwan's Eva Air, and US-based National Airlines - were flying at almost the same level which is a clear violation of mandatory separation.

The US National Airlines from Afghanistan to Hong Kong was flying at 31,000 feet, the Amsterdam-Bangkok EVA Air plane at 32,000 feet and Vienna-bound Dutch KLM at 33,000 feet.

As per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules 2017, the AAIB is empowered to summon the pilots of foreign airlines for investigation.

These rules "extend to the whole of India and apply to, and to the persons on, aircraft registered outside India," the DGCA rules say, adding that the rules also apply to an aircraft operated by a person who is not a citizen of India but has his principal place of business or permanent residence of India.
