Similarly, the parents or guardians of the students have also been requested to sign a similar affidavit.

The undertaking that the students have to sign reads - "Having been admitted to Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College I will never enter inside college premises wearing torn/artificially torn jeans or any kind of indecent dresses. I do hereby affirm that I shall wear normal civil dresses during my study period inside the entire college premises.”

The prohibition on students and staff wearing indecent clothes, like torn jeans is not new. A notice issued last year read, "No student or staff can enter inside college premises wearing torn jeans or artificially torn jeans. It is strictly prohibited inside the college campuses."

The principal of AJC Bose College told Indian Express,&nbsp;"Last year, we issued a similar advisory for our students. But despite such notice, some students were seen coming to the college in torn jeans. We don’t want our students to come to the campus in such attire." The head added that&nbsp;the college would not allow entry to any student found wearing indecent clothes.

Following this notice, students at the colleges demonstrated against the authorities and said they wouldn't&nbsp;follow the rules.

Since students didn't follow the previously issued advisory, the college this year is aiming to&nbsp;make a strong impact, which is why&nbsp;new students will have to sign the undertaking to get into the college.

Students are free to wear any type of outfit outside the college premises but they will have to follow the rules when in college. The principal also claimed that the undertaking would enforce strict discipline in the college.

The venture capital fund operated by the US-based investment manager, Internet Fund III Pte Ltd, sold the shares through open market transactions.

As per stock exchange records, US-based private equity fund Tiger Global also sold its final shares of Zomato on Monday.

Data from BSE indicates that, the private equity firm sold 123.5 million shares in bulk for Rs 91.01 ($1.10) each, with buyers including Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund, Societe Generale, and BNP Paribas Arbitrage Fund.

Tiger Global made its initial Zomato investment in 2020 and acquired Zomato shares as part of the Blinkit transaction last year. In August 2022, the private equity group reduced its ownership in Zomato.

India is set to mark the driest August since 1901 which is clearly being seen as a result of intensifying El Nino conditions by the senior meteorologists. 
 
This year, the monsoon is also likely to end up being the driest since 2015 as the country recorded a 13 per cent rainfall deficit, officials said. 
 
An India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said that after recording a precipitation deficit of 32 per cent in August and prediction of only subdued rainfall activity in the next three days across the country, India is set to record the driest August since 1901.

The month of August recorded 254.9 mm of rainfall, which is 30 per cent of the precipitation received in the monsoon season. The country registered a rainfall deficit of 25 per cent in August 2005, 24.6 per cent in 1965; 24.4 per cent in 1920; 24.1 per cent in 2009 and 24 per cent deficit in 1913, as per the IMD data. 
 
IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that El Nino is the main reason behind below-normal rainfall in August, apart from the "unfavourable phase of the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) which is known to reduce convection in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea". 
 
El Nino is the climatic change that takes place due to the warming of waters in the Pacific Ocean near South America. Generally, El Nino is related to the dry weather and weakening monsoon winds in India.

<h2>El Nino impacts two low-pressure systems</h2>

"The favourable phase of MJO results in rainfall even if there is no low-pressure system. July recorded above-normal rainfall due to the favourable phase of MJO," Mohapatra stated. 
 
He added that the prevailing El Nino conditions impacted only two low-pressure systems, among the five, which developed over the Bay of Bengal (BoB). "Another reason for below-normal rainfall in August was a lower number of low-pressure systems in the South China Sea and they, too, moved northward," he further stated. 
 
Low-pressure systems that develop over the South China Sea typically move westward and reach the north BoB after crossing Thailand and Vietnam.

"The absence of the positive phase of MJO must have also played a marginal role," he stated. Meanwhile, Mohapatra said, "Rainfall in September is likely to be on the lower side (94 per cent to 99 per cent) of the normal (422.8 mm).”

The Indian government on Tuesday announced a scheme that will provide financial aid of up to Rs 50 lakh ($60,000) to technical textiles startups and other individuals engaged in the industry.

According to a Mint report, the&nbsp;grant-in-aid will be offered for up to 18 months to aspiring innovators under the Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship Across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT) program.

“With a strong emphasis on developing the startup ecosystem in technical textiles, the guidelines focus on supporting individuals and companies to translate prototypes to technologies and products including commercialisation,” Mint quoted the statement made by the ministry of textiles.

The statement added that the GREAT guidelines give momentum to the development of high-performance fibres and composites, sustainable and recyclable textile materials, and smart textiles using artificial intelligence, the internet of things, 3D/4D printing, and rapid prototyping. The application areas for technical textiles include agrotextiles, building textiles, geotextiles, homes, medical textiles, mobile textiles, packaging textiles, protective textiles, and sports textiles.

Notably, companies must not be older than five years to qualify for the grant.

“To incentivise the incubators, the ministry will additionally provide 10 per cent of total grant-in-aid to incubators. To strengthen authenticity and commitment towards the project, a minimum investment of 10 per cent of the funding from the incubatee in two equal instalments is mandated,” the statement said.

The startup guidelines (GREAT), according to the statement, will give the technical textiles startup ecosystem in India the much-needed boost it needs, especially in specialised sub-segments like biodegradable and sustainable textiles, high-performance &amp; specialty fibres, and smart textiles, among others.

The government has also given 26 institutes its approval to upgrade their laboratory facilities and provide training in technical textile application fields.

It has also granted approval to 26 institutions’ requests for the creation and introduction of technical textile degree programs as well as technical textile courses or papers in important areas or specialisations.
