Talking about Jaiswal, the left-hander became the 17th Indian, and 113th player overall, to score a century on Test debut. He scored a sublime 171 in the series opener and returned with the Player-of-the-Match award. In the series finale, the 21-year-old ended with 57 and a 30-ball 38 to end as the highest run-getter in the two Tests (with 266 runs). Thus, former Indian keeper-batter Deep Dasgupta lauded Jaiswal and feels 'he is comfortable and is ready for this level'.

<h2>'Jaiswal is going to get better'</h2>

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jaiswal said, "That is a big positive. The way he batted, he looked comfortable. But again, he will face a lot of sterner challenges going forward in this format. The next series itself is going to be a huge challenge against South Africa. But I think what we have seen so far, it seems like he is comfortable and he is ready for this level. He is only going to get better. This was his first outing and he looked so good."

Dasgupta also praised Ishan Kishan, who also made his Test debut in the WI series. Kishan was impressive behind the stumps and scored his maiden fifty (34-ball 52 not out) in India's second innings of the final Test. “The fact of the matter is that Kishan is the kind of player that you would want in that middle-order, lower middle-order. He fits in that really nicely. He ticks a lot of those boxes. Keeping-wise, he looks stable, he looks solid. Nothing flamboyant or flashy, but consistent. He hasn't played a lot of red-ball cricket,” the ex-cricketer added.

India's next Test series is post the 2023 ODI World Cup. The team will tour South Africa for a two-match Test series and the likes of Jaiswal, Kishan, etc. will be eager to learn from their experience in the Caribbean island and make a mark in the African nation as well.&nbsp;

Jaiswal stitched a mammoth 229-run opening stand with captain Rohit (103) to become only the 17th Indian, 113th overall, to slam a ton on his Test debut. He started off on a promising note and while he took a step back during Day Two's proceedings, he always looked in complete control and took his innings forward. After a stunning start to his red-ball career, Jaiswal said at the post-match presentation, "Preparation was pretty good. We were having a nice session. Spoke a lot to Rahul Dravid sir. Would like to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for having faith in me. It's really nice, I have been working for this. I've been focusing on preparing well and having discipline. Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me. This is just the start, I need to keep my focus and keep working on my cricket."

Jaiswal started his innings with a lot of confidence and looked in good touch as he went to stumps remaining unbeaten along with captain Rohit Sharma (30 not out). After his Test debut, former Australia cricketer&nbsp;Tom Moody&nbsp;heaped praise on him and made a bold claim on his red-ball career.

In IPL 2023, he was a regular for the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and ended the season with 625 runs -- fifth-most -- at an average of 48.08, including a best of 124 (one hundred, five fifties). Over the years, he has improved a lot while grinding it out&nbsp;in the domestic circuit. After playing 15 first-class games, the swashbuckling left-hander averages a solid 80.21 with 1,845 runs under his name.

West Indies ripped through the India tail to bowl out the visitors for 353 runs on day two of the third test in St Lucia on Wednesday. After Ravichandran Ashwin (118) and Wriddhiman Saha (104) added 213 runs in a stellar sixth-wicket stand, the final five Indian wickets tumbled for only 14 runs at the Darren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet. Ashwin and Saha made history by becoming the first India number six and number seven batsmen to score a century in the same innings. It was also Saha's first test century. They came together at 126/5, but departed having guided India into a decent, if not quite unbeatable position.
