Abhishek Sharma has risen to the top of men’s T20I rankings for batters with his explosive strokeplay since his debut more than two years ago. The left-handed batter has broken several T20I records, and against the West Indies in Indore on Sunday evening (Oct 11), smashed a brilliant 18-ball fifty. He became the quickest to 2,000 T20I runs (ball-wise) during the knock, and alongside Ishan Kishan at No.3, added 108 for the second wicket. Abhishek credited his ‘uneasy preparation’ ahead of the match for his game-changing outing against the T20I powerhouse, West Indies.&nbsp;“Preparation is really important. If I want to continue playing like this and utilise the Powerplay, as the team wants me to, preparation really matters. I always believe it depends on which team I’m going to play against and which bowlers I’m going to face. Whenever I have time, whether it’s a week, a few days or two or three days, the preparation is very specific: which bowler is going to plan for me, and how I’m going to execute my plan and dominate. IND vs WI, 3rd T20I: When and where to watch live streaming in India?

India managed to keep the five-match T20I series alive versus hosts West Indies in the third match on Tuesday (August 08), in Guyana. After losing the first two encounters by a narrow margin, Hardik Pandya &amp; Co. showed a lot of hunger to turn the tides in the third T20I. Opting to bat first, Rovman Powell-led West Indies posted 159 for 7 with&nbsp;Kuldeep Yadav restricting the Windies courtesy of an impressive 3 for 28. In reply, India rode on Suryakumar Yadav's blistering 83 and Tilak Varma's 49 not out to cruise to a seven-wicket win with 13 balls to spare.

While Kuldeep and Surya made a strong statement in India's resounding win, Tilak Varma impressed once again in Indian colours. The left-hander made his debut in international cricket during the five-match T20I series opener and has managed scores of 39, 51 and 49* to impress many in the cricketing fraternity. After his unbeaten knock in India's easy win in Guyana, former Indian off-spinner Pragyan Ojha has made a bold claim.&nbsp;

<h2>'Is there a possibility of expediting Tilak Varma's inclusion to help settle India's No. 4 in ODIs?'</h2>

"Is there a possibility of expediting #TilakVarma's inclusion to help settle the number 4 debate for #TeamIndia in ODIs? He appears promising, displays strong composure, and adds the advantage of being a left-handed batsman," Ojha said in a tweet.

Varma had a great run in IPL 2023, scoring 343 runs in 11 games at a strike rate of 164.11 Since his international debut, the 20-year-old has shown a lot of maturity in playing as per the situation and looks ready to hold the middle-order slot for long in the shorter formats. While he may not be inducted in the ODI setup at present, with Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. gearing up for this year's ODI World Cup, Varma looks certain to be a part of the Indian setup across formats after the mega event in India (in October-November).

At the post-match presentation, captain Hardik opined on Surya-Tilak's match-winning 87-run third-wicket stand and hailed the former in particular. He said, "As a group, we have decided to bat with seven batters and we have to take responsibility, like it happened today if the batters score runs then you don't need someone at number eight. As Surya mentioned, they (SKY and Tilak) play together and spend time together, good to have someone like SKY in the team and when he takes responsibility it sends a message to the others."

The final two games will be held in Florida, USA during the upcoming weekend. Currently, India&nbsp;trail West Indies 1-2 after the third T20I.

IND vs WI: Former Indian spinner calls for Tilak Varma's inclusion in ODI squad to end No. 4 debate

After keeping India's hopes alive in the five-match T20Is with a blistering 83 in the third game, in Guyana on Tuesday (August 08), Suryakumar Yadav admitted to his ODI struggles. While the swashbuckling right-hander has been in top form in the shortest format of the game since his international debut, the same cannot be said about his ODI numbers. In 26 ODIs, Surya averages a poor 24.33, having managed only 511 runs with two fifties.

<h2>'ODIs&nbsp;one of the most challenging formats for me'</h2>

Following Hardik Pandya-led India's easy win in the third T20I versus West Indies, Player of the Match Surya said, "We've played so much T20 cricket now, that we have become habituated to it. We don't play as much one-day cricket anymore. That's one of the most challenging formats for me, because you need to have different gears. If too many wickets fall early on, you need to start off with a Test cricket-like approach. Then you go at run-a-ball and then take the T20 approach."

<section itemprop="articleBody">
"Right now, I'm trying to apply what the team management has told me about ODI cricket. I'm trying to take my time and do what the team requires of me. I'll try to keep the faith that the team has shown in me. In T20 cricket, we know what to do because we play so much of it. You just need to go and express your game," the Mumbai Indians (MI) batter stated.

The swashbuckling batter admitted his ODI numbers are in no way impressive. "If I'm honest, I know my numbers in one-day cricket are quite poor. There is no shame in admitting that. We talk about honesty, you need to be honest but it's even more important how you work and improve on it." Revealing the pep talk with regular captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, SKY said, "Rohit and Rahul bhai have told me - this is not a format that you play a lot, you need to practice a bit on what can be done for the team. We want you to play 45 to 50 balls. That's the sign from the team management, now that's on me how I want to play my game if I'm batting in the last 15-18 overs. Now, that's in my hand how to make use of this opportunity. I need to bat as per the team requirement."

<section itemprop="articleBody">
In KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer's absence, Surya has been given a long rope in India's middle-order in the ODI line-up. However, he has failed to get going and is yet to cement his spot. With India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, which commences later this month, to be announced soon, it will be interesting to see if SKY makes the cut. The 50-over Asia Cup will be followed by the ODI World Cup, later this year in India, thus, SKY needs to be consistent in the shorter format to remain regular.

Talking about the India-West Indies ongoing T20Is, Kuldeep Yadav (3 for 28), SKY (44-ball 83, laced with 10 fours and 4 sixes) and Tilak Verma (49 not out) starred in India's win as they now trail the hosts 1-2. The final two games will be held in Florida, USA over&nbsp;the weekend.

My ODI numbers are quite poor: Suryakumar admits to 50-over struggles after blistering 83 in 3rd T20I vs WI

India have kept their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies after they ran riot at Providence Stadium in Guyana to register a seven-wicket win. India, trailing 0-2 going into the third T20I contest, had Suryakumar Yadav to thank as the ICC T20I Player of the Year for 2022 played a match-winning 83-run knock. The win now sees India trail by 1-2 as the camps now move to the US to decide the fate of the series.

<h2>Suryakumar Yadav leads the way</h2>

Asked&nbsp;to chase 160 runs, it was not the best start for the visitors as they lost debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) and Shubman Gill (6) early. The initiatives were then taken over by Suryakumar and Tilak Varma (unbeaten 49) as the Mumbai Indians duo combined to put together an 87-run stand for the third wicket. Sky was the aggressive of the two as he scored at a strike rate of nearly 200 and was hitting the ball left, right, and centre.

He eventually fell clipping an Alzarri Joseph full toss to&nbsp;deep backward square leg, but Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 49 and captain Hardik Pandya hit the winning six with 13 balls to spare.

West Indies skipper Rovman Powell&nbsp;earlier took his side to 159-5 with a quick-fire 40 not out after winning the toss in Providence and choosing to bat.

Brandon King made a run-a-ball 42 while fellow opener Kyle Mayers (25) and Nicholas Pooran (20) also made decent contributions for the hosts.
