India on Saturday (Dec 21) condemned the "senseless" car attack at a Christmas market in Germany's Magdeburg that left at least five people dead. This comes as reports suggest that at least seven Indians were among those injured in the vehicle attack.

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in its official statement expressed deep sorrow and said: "We condemn the horrific and senseless attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. Several precious lives have been lost, and many have been injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims"



In Germany, a deadly car attack on a Christmas market on Friday (Dec 20) killed at least five, including a toddler and injured more than 200. The vehicle barrelled through revellers at high speed in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

"We condemn the horrific and senseless attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. Several precious lives have been lost and many have been injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. Our Mission is in contact with Indians who are injured, as well as their families, and rendering all possible assistance," Indian foreign ministry said in a statement on X.



He claimed in the LinkedIn post that a girl had reported the suspect to  police multiple times and asked for his arrest, but the police acted in a 'bureaucratic manner.'

German media has identified the man behind the shocking Christmas market car attack in Magdeburg as Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a doctor of psychiatry from Saudi Arabia.

A specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy, Taleb moved to Germany in 2006 and is believed to have been living in Bernburg. He received refugee status in 2016



On Friday (Dec 20), a man drove a car into the Christmas market in Germany's eastern city of Magdeburg, killing five people and injuring at least 200. German Police have arrested a Saudi national, a 50-year-old doctor named Taleb Abdul Jawed living in Germany since 2006.

Police in the German state of Baden-Wuerttember said on Sunday (July 14) that a man killed himself and two others in an attack at a house in the village of Lautlingen.

Danish and German officials said on Friday that they carried out a series of arrests in two nations that foiled a possible Islamist attack. Components and chemicals required to make explosives and firearms were confiscated in raids, Danish intelligence agency PET's operations chief Flemming Dryer was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.

The suspects, aged between 31 and 61, are all Germans and all but one of them has been detained.
