As the FIFA World Cup 2022 fever kicks in, airports in Dubai are gearing up for a huge influx of passengers. Qatar Airways and flydubai will operate up to 120 match-day shuttle flights to ensure everyone is able to enjoy the FIFA tournament which is set to begin from November 20, without hassle.&nbsp;

The match-day shuttle flights from Al Maktoum International Airport also known as Dubai World Central (DWC) to Doha International Airport for FIFA World Cup will start next week.

The shuttle flights will fly in and out of DWC everyday between November 20 and December 19, shuttling football fans to Doha and back to Dubai. However, Dubai Airports, which&nbsp;owns and manages the operation and development of both airports Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC),&nbsp;said that the baggage allowance for passengers is only limited to hand luggage and no checked luggage is allowed.&nbsp;

“It is mandatory for travellers to hold a valid match ticket and the Hayya Card to board match day shuttle flights. The baggage allowance for passengers using the shuttle service is limited to hand luggage as per their class of travel, and no checked luggage will be accepted except wheelchairs and strollers,” according to Dubai Airports.

The Dubai-based low-cost carrier plans as many as 30 round-trip flights a day during the World Cup. To cater the skyrocketing surge in demand, flydubai and Qatar Airways will also be operating chartered flights. Chartered flight operator such as DC Aviation Al Futtaim registered a spike in requests for private jets to Doha.&nbsp;

Germany's national carrier Lufthansa on Friday morning cancelled over 800 flights globally and over 700 passengers were left stranded in New Delhi. The flights were cancelled due to a one-day global strike.

This could have wide repercussions for people's travel decisions as Google hosts nine out of every 10 online searches.

Defending its decision, Google said it made the change following consultations with its "industry partners".

Google Flights, which allows users to scour the web for flights and fares, also offers to calculate the emissions generated by your journey.

Designed "to help you make more sustainable travel choices", Google's feature excludes all the global warming impacts of flying except CO2 which represents just over half of the real impact on the climate of flights. 
 
David Lee,&nbsp;professor of atmospheric science&nbsp;at Manchester Metropolitan University said, "It now significantly understates the global impact of aviation on the climate."

According to experts, the aviation industry is actually responsible for around 3.5 per cent of the warming caused by human activity but the new policy will only show it as 2 per cent.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) stated in a report that emissions have risen by 50 per cent since 2000 and the industry is expected to grow by more than 4 per cent every year for the next twenty years.

Arguing that the company's priority is the "accuracy of the individual flight estimates", Google says it recognises that at the global scale they are a significant additional impact on flying.

Google's policy change slashes airline emissions’ real figures, veils climate impact

For people travelling on Flight ET343, August 15 was an experience that was both harrowing and miraculous. Pilots of the flight, which was travelling from Khartoum to Addis Ababa, apparently fell asleep at 37,000 feet in the air and missed their landing.

As per the Aviation Herald, the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 continued past its&nbsp; scheduled destination: the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and didn't approach the runway. In spite of multiple tries, Air Traffic Control (ATC) was unable to reach the crew.

When the plane overflew the runway, the autopilot mode was disengaged, and "the disconnect wailer woke the crew up, who then manoeuvred the aircraft for a safe landing on the runway about 25 minutes after overflying the runway."

Alex Macheras, an aviation analyst, expressed his dismay at the "deeply concerning incident" on Twitter, suggesting that pilot fatigue might be to blame.

As per CNN, this incident comes just months after a warning by Southwest Airlines Pilots Association&nbsp;(SWAPA), which cautioned that "Fatigue, both acute and cumulative, has become Southwest Airlines' number-one safety threat."

Reportedly, the number of pilots who reported being unable to work due to exhaustion soared in the fall, including a 600 per cent rise in October, and hit "another staggering 330 per cent&nbsp;increase" in March, according to the union's letter to executives. SWAPA stated that "April is already setting fatigue records."&nbsp;

Others claimed that because of a personnel shortage, airline bosses requested them to oversee too many extra flights.

The strike is scheduled to last from 0145 GMT on Wednesday to 0400 GMT on Thursday. The strike has been called to demand higher pay rise than the one offered by Lufthansa.

Cancellation of flights is sure to create disturbance in summer air travel across Europe. Travel volume has increased in Europe due to relaxation of Covid rules.

The Verdi union, representing around 20,000 Lufthansa ground staff, is seeking a 9.5-percent pay rise, or at least 350 euros ($360) per month. It also wants a minimum hourly wage of 13 euros.

The union has said management's offer so far "does not come close to compensating for inflation" which stood at 7.6 percent in Germany last month.

The buoyancy in the influx of tourists is noteworthy considering that&nbsp;the airport,&nbsp;by its design, can only handle less than 7,000 passengers per day.

Also, the month of March has seen the maximum number of tourists arrivals in Kashmir Valley, breaking a 10-year record.

The Jammu and Kashmir tourism department has been promoting Kashmir tourism across the country and has organised many spring festivals in the coming days.&nbsp;

“We have handled 45 arriving flights with 7,824 passengers and 45 departing flights with 7,190 passengers on March 28. A total of 90 flights with 15,014 passengers makes it the busiest day in our history. And this is only the beginning of the summer schedule,” said Director of Srinagar International Airport, Kuldeep Singh.&nbsp;

The Srinagar airport authority at present has nine parking slots and six more are being added. In total, 15 parking stands will be available for the planes.
