Matters of the heart are delicate but matters with an ex are often charged with high emotions and involve actions that are not well thought-out. Confidentiality of patient records with England's National Health Service (NHS) was thrown into question after a woman doctor accessed records of another woman her ex-boyfriend was now dating and shared them, as reported by The Guardian. The doctor was not a caregiver to the woman, which raises questions as to how she could access the data.

The doctor, who reportedly works as a consultant with Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge relayed the woman's personal medical information to her ex-boyfriend.

“I felt violated when I learned that this woman, who I didn’t know, had managed to access on a number of occasions details of my life that I had shared with my GP and only my family and very closest friends. It was about something sensitive involving myself and my children, about a family tragedy,” the woman said as quoted by The Guardian.

The news outlet did not reveal the name of the doctor or the name of the woman whose medical records she accessed.

“The doctor said that she had got it from friends, or from people in her choir or parents at my children’s school. That left my sister and I wondering if some of our close friends had betrayed us as we knew that only a few people knew those details. She had an unhealthy interest in us,” the woman was quoted as saying.

“This is an utterly appalling case. It’s an individual problem that the doctor did this. But it’s a systemic problem that they could do it, and that flaws in the way the NHS’s data management systems work meant that any doctor can do something like this to any patient," said Sam Smith, from MecConfidential, a health data privacy group.

“If you’re registered with the NHS in England, this could happen to you.”

Just how the doctor found the woman's medical records was revealed when Addenbrooke carried out a detailed audit at the woman's request. The audit revealed that the doctor had accessed the records no less than seven times last August and September. The doctor first accessed Addenbrooke's own hospital records system.

The doctor then accessed records from a different system and got information about a tragedy and its health impact on one of her children.

Dr Nicola Byrne, the NHS national data guardian for England, termed the doctor's behaviour “absolutely unacceptable”. She added that she was "concerned at the seriousness of the allegations".

Apart from Shanto, Player-of-the-Match Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed 20 runs off 16 balls alongside his 4/12 in four overs. Earlier, England were asked to bat first after losing the toss and had a horrible start as they lost Dawid Malan for 16. The death overs' charge never came as England folded for a paltry 117 runs on the last ball of the innings. Apart from Mehidy, Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket each.

Bangladesh stun world champion England in second T20I, take unassailable 2-0 lead in series

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is making headlines but for all the wrong reasons. The star all-rounder, who recently led his side to victory against world champions England in the third ODI, is going viral for beating a fan with a cap.

In the video, which is making rounds on social media, the southpaw can be seen losing cool during a promotional event in Bangladesh. The player, in the video, is clearly angry on a fan and beating him up with a cap continuously. Have a look at the video below:

This is not the first time Shakib has lost his cool and been in the news. In the past as well, his off-field behaviour has raised eyebrows over his temperament and sportsmanship. Notably, in the latest edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), country's domestic T20 tournament, he got engaged angrily with a fan. Not only this, the star also argued in a heated manner with the on-field umpire twice.

The 35-year-old, however, is arguably is the best player to have every played for Bangladesh. In 227 ODIs he has played for the country, he has scored 6,976 runs at an average of 37.3 which is only second to Tamim Iqbal's 8,143 runs at 36.8.

Continuing their demand for pay raise, Junior doctors in England will go on strike for three days, 13, 14 and 15 March, the British Medical Association (BMA) has said. According to the BMA, young doctors are at a loss for options after Health Secretary Steve Barclay "refused to attend" a meeting to discuss their wages.

The strike will involve no work, which means no emergency cover and on-call shifts.

In a recent ballot, over 40,000 junior doctors chose to engage in industrial action, and hospital trusts and employers have now been informed that the 72-hour walkout will take place. Junior doctors are overall 40% of the medical workforce. Sharing their woes, the BMA union said the junior doctors are "demoralised, angry and no longer willing to work for wages that have seen a real terms decline of over 26% in the past 15 years".

Junior doctors to go on 72-hour strike in England

Ministers have announced plans for an independent football regulator to oversee the financial sustainability of the men's game in England, with powers to prevent clubs from joining breakaway leagues. The regulator would license clubs, requiring them to demonstrate sound financial business models, run robust owners' and directors' tests and give fans a greater say in the running of clubs.

It would also have the power to block clubs from joining breakaway leagues, appearing to prevent a repeat of any attempt to form a Super League such as the one that proved so unpopular with supporters in 2021.

"Despite the success of the sport both at home and abroad, we know that there are real challenges which threaten the stability of clubs both big and small," said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

"These bold new plans will put fans back at the heart of football, protect the rich heritage and traditions of our much-loved clubs and safeguard the beautiful game for future generations."

Football Association CEO Mark Bullingham said the FA welcomed the plans, set out in a government white paper -- a policy document setting out proposals for future legislation -- to be published on Thursday.

"Our response will highlight a critical point made repeatedly by the fan-led review, which recommended that the professional game increases funding of the grassroots game," he said.

The Football Supporters' Association also welcomed the proposals.

"The football governance white paper clearly addresses our key concerns around ownership, rogue competitions and sustainability and of course we support any proposals that offer fans a greater voice in the running of their clubs," said FSA chief executive Kevin Miles.

But the Premier League warned it was vital that regulation did not damage the game.

"We will now work constructively with stakeholders to ensure that the proposed government regulator does not lead to any unintended consequences that could affect the Premier League's position as the most-watched football league in the world, reduce its competitiveness or put the unrivalled levels of funding we provide at risk," it said in a statement.

Terrible idea

West Ham owner David Sullivan echoed previous concerns expressed by some owners of Premier League clubs, describing the plans for greater regulation as a "terrible idea".

"The regulator will have a huge staff that football will have to pay for," he told Sky Sports News. "It will be a total waste of money. I bet it grows in size and cost every year.

"The Premier League is the best run and most successful league in the world. It gives more to the lower leagues and the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) and the grassroots than any other top league in the world. It's a fantastic export."

The proposals are based on the recommendations of a fan-led review that ministers commissioned earlier than originally planned in the immediate aftermath of the Super League scandal.

The body's main purpose would be to oversee a licensing system to ensure clubs are run sustainably, following the collapse of Bury and Macclesfield in recent years.

But it would also be able to step in and force arbitration if the Premier League, the EFL (English Football League) and the Football Association are unable to reach a new settlement on how top-flight finances support the game at lower levels.

The government also plans to introduce a new owners' and directors' test, with a focus on the fitness and propriety of new owners and enhanced due diligence.

It is not clear whether there will be any human rights element to the test, despite calls for one from Amnesty International during the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle.

The issue is again in the spotlight as a result of a Qatari bid for Manchester United.

The government said it would embark on further consultation, with plans to bring forward legislation to be announced as soon as parliamentary time allows.
