Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has only been in the Premier League for two months, but his impact has been such that he is now being tipped as a missing creative link in Gareth Southgate's England side.

After a 22 million pounds ($29 million) close-season move from Championship (second tier) Norwich City, Maddison has played all eight games in the Premier League and the number 10 is now in line to face Croatia and Spain in England's Nations League matches.

The 21-year-old is unlikely to be overawed.

His Premier League debut came at Old Trafford against Manchester United on the televised opening Friday of the season and he left observers purring at his classy display despite Leicester falling to a 2-1 defeat.

"There was a moment in the warm-up when the crowd was filling up and it just hit me that this was the Premier League. You see all these TV cameras around the pitch, which you don't get at Championship level, and I thought: 'I've worked hard to be here. I deserve to be here. I belong here'," he told reporters.

"I did well on the day and we put in a good performance and maybe could have got more out of the game. There is no bigger stage than Old Trafford on the opening day of the season or Friday night. That was a dream I will never forget," he said.

There was certainly no sign of nerves as he showed his creativity and invention up against United`s World Cup-winning midfielder Paul Pogba.

It was a display that immediately suggested he could be the missing link for Southgate in the role between midfield and attack, where England are not blessed with an abundance of creative talents.

"I always had the confidence," he said. "I went into pre-season with the mind-set of 'Be fearless, go and show everyone what you can do'.&nbsp;

"If, just because it's the Premier League, I started trying to play the simple pass instead of trying the harder pass that is not the type of person I am to be honest.&nbsp;

"I went in with an open mind and it has worked out well. I`m really enjoying it and loving life in the Premier League," he added.

While he acknowledges that he is a new face in the England set-up, the midfielder will not be a shrinking violet.

"You have to come here and be yourself," he said. "If you come here and act like the new kid or the young lad then I don`t think it will work. Gareth (Southgate) said to me: 'Go and show what you are about and why you are here'.&nbsp;

"I've always believed in myself. One of my biggest attributes, if you speak to my coaches from when I was a young lad, is that I've always believed in my own ability and been a confident young man.&nbsp;

"There's never been a point when I've questioned myself. If I've ever had a setback at a club I've always made it my mission to show why I should be in the team instead of dwelling on it."

Maddison says he is at the right club for a player looking to break into the England team, with Leicester centre back Harry Maguire and left back Ben Chilwell also in Southgate's squad.

That was a factor, he said, behind his move from Norwich.

"We have a really good English spine at Leicester at the minute," he said.&nbsp;

"I looked at the Leicester squad and saw Harry and Jamie (Vardy) as regulars in England set up, I thought that is where I want to be, that is where I want to get to.&nbsp;

"I was a little bit off it at the time but (I thought) that is eventually where I want to be, alongside those guys and here we are. So I am very happy with the decision I made. It is going very well."

He was expectedly nervous before the game but getting to spend time with his senior teammates during the England series helped him approach his debut like "any other game".

His first runs came off his typical back-foot punch and he never looked back from there, playing a top-quality innings comprising 19 fours.

"I was nervous at the start but settled down after I timed a few nicely. After that, I didn't feel the pressure that I felt at the start of the innings. I like to dominate bowlers and that is what I was trying to do, waiting for the loose balls," he said.

Having scored a hundred on Ranji and Duleep Trophy debut, Shaw did the same at the highest level. When asked, Shaw was modest about rising to the occasion timing and again.

"I don't know how I manage but whenever go in the middle, I try to play to the merit of the ball and even in this game I went in with the same mindset. I did not try anything new thinking it is my first Test. Played the same way I have played India A and domestic cricket.

"Having said that, there is a lot of difference if you compare international cricket with the U-19 and domestic cricket. They come with a lot of strategies in international cricket. You face bowlers with a lot more pace. Sometimes you face serious pace in domestic cricket but here is a lot more variety and experience," said Shaw who looked comfortable against Shanon Gabriel even though he was touching 150kph.

The year could not have turned out better for Shaw, who led India to the U-19 World Cup title in New Zealand, made his IPL debut before finally getting his big break on Thursday. He dedicated the hundred to his father, who raised him as a single parent after his mother passed way when he was just four.

Mike&nbsp;Hesson&nbsp;stunned New Zealand cricket on Thursday by announcing he will step down as coach at the end of next month, less than a year out from the World Cup.

The 43-year-old, who was appointed to the role in 2012, is to leave the job on July 31.

He said in a statement he wanted to spend more time with his family and felt he could not commit to the job for another 12 months.

"This job requires 100 per cent commitment and is all-consuming,"&nbsp;Hesson&nbsp;said. "I know what's required over the next 12 months, but if I'm honest, I don't feel I have the capacity to give the job what it deserves.

"The idea of missing a match, a tour or a format, as has been proposed at different times, has never sat well with me."

Hesson, who was a surprise choice for the role in 2012, had a rocky start when he dumped Ross Taylor as captain but turned the team around, guiding them to the 2015 World Cup final and the world's top ranking in Twenty20 cricket.

New Zealand was also ranked as high as second for one-day internationals and third for tests during his tenure, which would have officially ended after the May 30-July 14 World Cup in England and Wales next year.

"Cricket Australia will continue to fully cooperate with the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit in its review of the matter. Neither the ICC or Cricket Australia is aware of any credible evidence linking Australian players to corruption in the game."

Sutherland also said, "Cricket Australia will continue to fully co-operate with the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit in its review of the matter."

He also urged Al Jazeera to provide all un-edited materials and any other evidence to the ICC investigation team so that a full and thorough investigation can be conducted.

"You can say what you want, but I'm a serial winner.

"I showed this in England in a difficult moment for the club. I've showed this today, because we found the right way to win this trophy.

"There are moments that you have a lot of questions for yourself. To win in this way this season gives me more satisfaction than my wins in the past."

Conte, who won three Serie A titles with Juventus, has one year left on his contract after signing an improved deal without an extension at the end of last season.

But the 48-year-old has given the impression for much of the season that he would have no problem leaving Stamford Bridge because he knows he would still be in demand from top clubs.

Asked if he expects to be in charge next season, Conte said he would respect whatever decision was taken.

"I always say I'm committed to this club, to respect my contract," he said.

"As you know very well our job is not simple. I understand that the club can make a decision, a positive decision, a negative decision. I'm the first to understand.

"I'm the coach of a great, important club. It's right that the club demands of me a lot. For sure we'll make the best decision."

In truth, Conte may have burned too many bridges to stay with Chelsea amid speculation that former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique and Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri are Abramovich's top targets to succeed him.

In another swipe at Chelsea's refusal to sign his top targets last year, he added: "As you know very well I predicted the difficulty at the start of the season.

"To miss a place in the Champions League is not good for a club like Chelsea.

"We must be honest to tell this. But at the same time you have to know the real situation.

"There is the possibility with this group of players we did the maximum."

If Conte does leave, it will be despite the support of Chelsea's fans, who serenaded him as he joined in the celebrations on the Wembley turf.

"After these two seasons I will always love this colour, these fans, this club. Even if my future must be in a different way," he said.

An emotional Arsene Wenger said farewell to Arsenal and probably England on Sunday after playing down the prospect of managing another club in the Premier League.

The 68-year-old Frenchman reflected on his "human experiences" in his time at Arsenal on a day of mixed emotions, while he also spoke about his enjoyment of England and its football culture.

Yet when the prospect of managing another Premier League club against Arsenal was raised, Wenger said that scenario was unlikely.

"I am not ready for that at the moment, that would be very difficult. I think on that day I would stay at home. I don’t know, at the moment, I don’t envisage that," he said.

Wenger confirmed that he had already received approaches to manage other clubs but had not yet explored those options.

"Yes I had offers, of course, but at the moment I did not even speak to anybody of the many offers," he said. "You cannot come out of such a long process and the next morning say 'yes, I go somewhere else', it is impossible."

But when the question of whether he will manage in England again was posed, Wenger said: "I don’t know. Maybe it is better I go somewhere else."

Wenger said he had fallen in love with England, which added to the impression that the Frenchman was saying goodbye to his adopted home, as well as his club.

"I feel that I got a lot of respect not only from our fans but from England," he said.

"I would reiterate - I loved English football but as well I learned to love England over 22 years.
