Dressing up as an elf, Elvis Presley or a nun and singing loudly while watching darts at London’s Alexandra Palace has become something of a pre-Christmas ritual but things will be a little more sober at this year’s PDC World Championship.

The tournament starting on Dec. 15 will be limited to 1,000 fans per night due to the COVID-19 pandemic and fancy dress and football-style chanting will be strictly prohibited. Normally 2,500 fans pack the venue each evening.

“Unfortunately, for this year only, we are unable to permit any spectators on site in fancy dress,” the Professional Darts Corporation said. “Christmas jumpers, however, are allowed.

“Football style singing and chanting will not be permitted, however you will be able to encourage your favourite players from your table. Failure to adhere to requests from event security to comply may lead to your removal from the event.”

Beer and food can still be consumed at tables limited to four from the same household or support bubble, as long as it is ordered via a mobile app. But for many the thought of a night watching the world’s best darts players without the usual accompanying pantomime will be deeply disappointing.

“Don’t really fancy going with my missus &amp; my mum, not my idea of a laugh!,” said fan Matty Crook on Twitter.

The tournament will be the first PDC event to have a live crowd since March when the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.

London is in the British government’s Tier 2 restrictions which means a limited return of fans to sporting events is permitted.

&nbsp;A gold and diamond 'TCB' ring worn by Elvis Presley is expected to fetch more than $500,000 at a memorabilia auction in Los Angeles that ranges from rock guitars to a set of master tapes from the Woodstock festival.

The Elvis Presley ring is described as the first in a series of rings with the TCB (Taking Care of Business) letters and lightning bolt motif that the singer adopted as his mantra in 1969 when he returned to performing concerts after focusing on movies.

In pics:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/hollywood-celebs-who-faced-backlash-for-using-hindu-gods-in-pop-culture-342603" hreflang="en">Hollywood celebs who faced backlash for using Hindu gods in pop culture</a>

"It`s the quintessential Elvis jewellery piece," said Brigitte Kruse, founder of GWS Auctions. Kruse said she thought the ring could fetch anything between $500,000 and $1 million at the 300-item auction on Nov. 28.
Presley gave the ring, made up of multiple diamonds that weigh a total of 9.81 carats and which he designed himself, to his opening band singer J.D. Sumner in 1975.

Presley, who died in 1977 at age 42, was also a motorbike fan. A 1975 FLH 1200 Harley-Davidson that he liked to ride around his Graceland estate in Memphis carries a pre-sale estimate of $300,000 - $350,000, GWS said. Another of Presley`s bikes was sold for $800,000 in September 2019.

The most expensive lot could be a collection of master tapes from the 1969 Woodstock festival that sat in a producer`s storage locker for more than 10 years and have never been available for sale before.

The 700 plus hours of tapes, independently valued at $1.6 million, include performances by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who and dozens of more artists who took part in what is seen as a cornerstone of hippie culture.

Kruse said it was difficult to estimate how much the Woodstock tapes might sell for. "There`s just nothing to compare it to," she said. "Every now and then we bump into those pieces that are truly exceptional and things you wouldn`t even think still existed."

In a scathing letter written by Michael Jackson, the king of pop had slammed musical icons like The Beatles and Elvis Presley along with MTV calling out the racial inequality in the music industry.

The letters, written in 1987, have been made public for the first time by British newspaper The Sun which shows the anger of the late pop star over prevalent racism and how he used it to fuel his stardom.

"Throughout history, white men have always branded the pages of history with Great White Hopes putting whites over Blacks like nobles like Elvis being the King of Rock and Roll, Springsteen being The Boss and The Beatles being the best,' Jackson wrote in the letter.

He said that The Beatles 'were good' but 'they weren't better singers or dancers than the Blacks.'

The musician also added that the whites controlled the media and that they could "make the public believe whatever they desire."

'I will change this NOW with the power of my songs and dance and looks and total reclusiveness and mystery world. I will rule as the King,' he wrote and added that Elvis was not the 'king' and he would 'show Springsteen who's boss' adding he was 'very angry' and had to prove himself and 'change things.'

In his letter, he also wrote that he wanted to be the King so that 'white children can have Black heroes so they don't grow up prejudice.'

'My goal is to become so ‘Big’, so powerful. To become such a hero, to end prejudice. To make these little white kids love me by selling over 200,000,000 albums,' the singer continued.

He also called out MTV and said how he 'hated inequality in record business' and that 'blacks weren't able to be on MTV.' He also pointed out that how Black artists couldn't 'cross over' to be on covers of popular publications.

The singer added that all these reasons pushed him to work harder. "All of this put a fire in me. To get the recognition so 'whites and Blacks of all races love me to be on the cover of Time, Life, Newsweek," he wrote.

The late pop star concluded the letter by writing, "But I did it over anger. To get even. To prove myself. I love white people, Black people, all races. I want what's fair. Now is the time for my kingship forever. I want all races to love as one."

Ansel Elgort, Harry Styles, Miles Teller and others in race for Elvis Presley role in biopic

A biopic on Elvis Presley is being made by Baz Luhrmann for Warner Bros. The yet-to-be-titled film is said to be in negotiations with Tom Hanks.&nbsp;

Tom is in negotiations to star in the film as Elvis’ legendary manager Col. Tom Parker who controlled every aspect of the singers’ life.&nbsp;

The makers are still in talks to look for an actor to play Elvis in the film. They haven’t started the search as if yet. The untitled film will focus on Elvis Presley’s rise with a major emphasis on his relationship with Tom Parker.&nbsp;

Tom was a scrappy Dutch-born guy who never became a citizen and gained his rank of ‘colonel’ as an honorary title. He was struggling as a music manager when he came across Elvis in the mid-1950s and was stunned by his talent. Over the course of two years, he paid off all other agents and managers in the singer's life to chart himself as the exclusive rep.&nbsp;

The film will be produced by Baz and his wife Catherine Martin. The two have been developing the project since the director wrapped up his last film, 2013's ‘The Great Gatsby’. Gail Berman is also a producer. Baz has also written the script with Craig Pearce.

Tom Hanks is meanwhile working on ‘Bios’, a sci-fi drama from Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners. He will also be seen in ‘News of the World’, an adaptation of the Paulette Jiles novel set up at Fox 2000 to be directed by Paul Greengrass.&nbsp;

Over the course of two years, he paid off all other agents and managers in the singer's life to chart himself as the exclusive rep. The film will be produced by Baz and his wife Catherine Martin. The two have been developing the project since the director wrapped up his last film, 2013's ‘The Great Gatsby’. Gail Berman is also a producer. Baz has also written the script with Craig Pearce. Tom Hanks is meanwhile working on ‘Bios’, a sci-fi drama from Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners. He will also be seen in ‘News of the World’, an adaptation of the Paulette Jiles novel set up at Fox 2000 to be directed by Paul Greengrass.

World-famous guitar maker Gibson, whose instruments have been played by the likes of John Lennon and Elvis Presley, is facing serious financial problems that threaten its very existence.

The mythical company -- in Nashville, Tennessee since 1894 -- on Monday brought in a new financial director, Benson Woo, to try to rescue the ailing group.&nbsp;

Gibson Brands, which also sells audio systems for both professionals and the general public, is working with an investment bank to set up a debt refinancing plan, the company said in a statement. &nbsp;

The group has a $375 million debt payment due in early August, the Nashville Post reported.&nbsp;

&quot;While the musical instrument and pro audio segments have been profitable and growing, they are still below the level of success we saw several years ago,&quot; CEO Henry Juszkiewicz said in the statement.&nbsp;

He said the company, as part of a broad review of its business strategy, was continuing to streamline its Philips brand consumer audio business while eliminating some underperforming products.

He said Gibson expects this strategy will lead &quot;to the best financial results the company has seen in its history within the next year,&quot; with full repayment of company debt &quot;within several years.&quot;

Gibson bought Philips, a Dutch entertainment brand, in 2014 for $135 million.

Gibson produces one of the most prestigious guitar models in the world, the Les Paul.

Among the stars who have played Gibson instruments are the bluesman B.B. King, the Rolling Stone Keith Richards and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.

In 2016, a Gibson Dove -- a flattop, steel-string acoustic guitar that Presley&#39;s father had given him in 1969 -- sold at auction for the healthy sum of $334,000.&nbsp;

A year earlier, one of Lennon&#39;s favorite guitars -- he used it to compose songs like &quot;All My Loving&quot; and &quot;She Loves You&quot; -- brought in an even more impressive $2.4 million.
