Elon Musk to webcast Neuralink's first brain chip implantation in a human this year

<p>Twitter is being forced to leave its Boulder, Colorado headquarters because it hasn't paid the rent in months, according to a report&nbsp;in the Denver Business Journal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As reported by TechCrunch, the company moved into the premises in February 2020 and used a letter of credit with a value of about $1 million to pay for the first three months of rent.</p>

<p>The judge issued an order on May 31 for the sheriff to assist in evicting Musk's company within 49 days after the landlord sued Twitter in court last month, according to TechCrunch.</p>

<p>The company has previously faced legal action from a number of other landlords who claim it hasn't been paying rent on its San Francisco headquarters and its King Charles-owned office in London.</p>

<p>Musk allegedly stated in a 4 a.m. conversation&nbsp;that the company would only pay office rent "over his dead body," according to a lawsuit&nbsp;brought by former Twitter workers last month.</p>

<p>As per&nbsp;the lawsuit, Alex Spiro, Musk's lawyer, "loudly opined" that it was unfair for Twitter's landlords to expect it to pay rent since San Francisco was a "shithole."</p>

<p>It appears to be a strategy to assist Twitter save expenses after Musk, as previously reported by Insider, reduced employees by over 90 per cent&nbsp;to save money.</p>

<p>Twitter owner Elon Musk slammed San Francisco's authorities for failing to control crime in the city housing the global hotspots of technological advances.</p>

<p>Musk made the comment while reacting to filmmaker Eli Steele's Twitter post in which the 'What Killed Michael Brown?' director shared an image of smashed car windows.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"You hear about how bad San Francisco is. I was filming a shot of my father, Shelby Steele, and in the 10&nbsp;minutes we were gone our SUV was broken into and nearly $15k of cameras stolen. Called 911 &amp; they hung up twice," Steelo wrote on Twitter.</p>

<p>Musk said that many Twitter employees feel unsafe while coming to work in downtown San Francisco and have faced similar experiences of their car windows being smashed.</p>

<p>Crime in San Francisco is a long-running public health and public safety issue. While it currently has lower-than-average rates of violent crime when compared with other major US cities, but property crimes, such as theft and burglary, are higher than the national average.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2020, the reported violent crime rate in San Francisco was 21 per cent below the average of 20 most populous cities other than San Francisco for which there was full data available. Meanwhile, the city’s property crime rate was 41 per cent above the national average.</p>

<p>Twitter will now be paying verified content creators for advertisements in their replies, the company's owner Elon Musk announced on Friday. The first block of payment will be around $5 million.</p>

<p>Taking to the microblogging platform, Musk said, "In a few weeks, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies. The first block payment totals $5M."</p>

<p>“Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count,” he further added.</p>

<p>Since Elon Musk's takeover of social media giant Twitter, its US ad revenue witnessed a massive slump of 59 per cent, according to media reports citing documents. Internal presentations circulating in media showed that the company's revenue for the period between April 1 and the first week of May had dropped to $88 million, a 59 per cent drop compared to the same period last year.</p>

<p>Internal reports also show that the company has regularly missed its US sales targets over the past few months, sometimes by even 30 per cent.</p>

<p>According to some Twitter employees, advertisers in the US could be abandoning the platform over the rise of pornographic and hate speech content on the platform. According to media reports, high-profile companies including Chevrolet, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Ford, and Jeep have halted advertising on the site. In November, a report emerged which claimed that almost half of the company's top 100 advertisers who spent more than $2 billion on Twitter ads since the beginning of 2020, had halted their campaigns on Twitter.</p>

<h2><strong>Linda Yaccarino takes over as the new CEO of Twitter</strong></h2>

<p>Elon Musk on May 12 announced that Linda Yaccarino would assume the post of CEO of Twitter.</p>

<p>In a tweet, Musk said, "I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design &amp; new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app."</p>
