X (Twitter) down today: Thousands report login issues on Elon Musk’s platform

A federal jury in California, US, discovered on Friday that Elon Musk misled Twitter shareholders by driving down the company's share price, which he was supposed to buy in a $44 billion deal. The verdict indicated that the world's richest person could be ordered to pay billions of dollars based on the damages calculated by the jurors. After a while following the judgment, the entrepreneur's lawyers told the news agency AFP that their client will appeal the decision, labelling it as a "setback". Following a three-week trial in a San Francisco federal court, during which Elon Musk testified in person, the jury concluded that two tweets he posted in May 2022 contained false remarks that contributed to a drop in Twitter’s share price. The investor Giuseppe Pampena filed a lawsuit on behalf of shareholders who sold their Twitter stock between mid-May and early October 2022. Musk later completed the acquisition of the platform in late October 2022 and subsequently rebranded it as X. According to the verdict form, jurors determined that Musk violated securities regulations prohibiting false or misleading statements that negatively impact stock prices. In this instance, the affected stock was Twitter’s. Lawyers representing the plaintiffs estimated damages at around $2.6 billion. Musk, who remains highly active on X, did not immediately respond to the ruling.
Elon Musk charged with stock price manipulation of Twitter (X)
Previously, a jury in the same San Francisco federal court freed him within hours of similar charges brought by Tesla shareholders in 2023, after his 2018 tweets claiming that he had the funding to take the automaker private. Additionally, a civil complaint filed in California accused Elon Musk of downgrading the stock price of Twitter in order to gain the privilege to renegotiate the purchase price or get out of the deal completely. The act caused several individuals who sold shares to lose money. A civil lawsuit filed in California alleged that Elon Musk deliberately pushed down Twitter’s stock price to gain leverage in renegotiating the acquisition deal or potentially walk away from it altogether, resulting in financial losses for investors who sold their shares. During the process, Musk tweeted that the deal was temporarily on hold until Twitter’s management could verify that the proportion of “bots”, automated accounts rather than real users, was as low as the company had claimed. The plaintiffs argued that these remarks were part of a broader strategy to pressure the board into agreeing to a lower purchase price than initially offered. This came at a time when Tesla shares were declining, which would have required Musk to sell more of his holdings to fund the acquisition. Eventually, Musk dropped his attempt to exit the deal in late 2022 after Twitter pursued legal action to enforce the agreement. He has since integrated the platform with his artificial intelligence venture xAI and his space exploration company SpaceX. Also read: Trump administration files second lawsuit against Harvard, this time over antisemitism

The global race to dominate artificial intelligence is intensifying, with the United States and China competing across technology, business and geopolitics. Now, Elon Musk has offered a striking view on how this race may unfold. In a post on X, Musk said China could emerge as the leader in artificial intelligence on Earth, while his own company SpaceX may lead in space.

What exactly did Elon Musk said?
Musk made the comment while replying to a discussion involving Bindu Reddy, CEO of Abacus AI, who had criticised Google’s progress in artificial intelligence.Responding to the debate, Musk wrote:“Google will win the AI race in the West, China on Earth and SpaceX in space.”While the comment appeared partly informal, it reflects broader trends in how different regions are approaching AI development. Why Musk believes China could leadChina and the United States are taking different paths in artificial intelligence.US-based companies such as Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google are investing heavily in large language models, cloud services and enterprise AI tools. Many of these systems are paid or restricted to specific users. In contrast, Chinese companies are focusing on wider accessibility. Firms such as Alibaba and startups like DeepSeek have released open-source or low-cost AI models. This approach allows developers and smaller businesses to use and modify AI tools more easily. Some analysts believe this could lead to faster adoption at scale, even if US models remain stronger in certain benchmarks.
The idea of different winners in AI
Musk’s comment suggests that the AI race may not have a single winner. Instead, different regions and companies could lead in different areas: China: broader AI adoption and deployment United States: advanced research and enterprise systems Space sector: emerging AI applications beyond Earth. He also hinted that the Western AI race could still be led by companies like Google. This reflects a more fragmented view of the AI ecosystem, where leadership depends on use cases rather than one global leader.
SpaceX and the next frontier of AI
Musk also pointed to space as a new arena for artificial intelligence. He has previously spoken about plans to combine xAI with SpaceX to build orbital AI data centres. Reports suggest such projects could be valued at around $1.25 trillion. These space-based systems would:Use solar energy for computingReduce energy costs compared to Earth-based data centresSupport satellite networks and deep-space missionsIf implemented, this could allow AI systems to operate beyond Earth, supporting autonomous spacecraft and future exploration missions.
What this means for the global AI race
The AI race is no longer limited to technology companies. It now involves governments, infrastructure, energy and global influence.China’s focus on accessibility and scale may help it expand AI usage quickly. Meanwhile, US firms continue to lead in advanced research and high-performance models. Musk’s remarks highlight a key idea: AI leadership may be divided across regions and industries rather than dominated by a single country. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, the competition between nations and companies is expected to shape not only technology, but also economic and strategic power in the years ahead.

A 37-year-old tax economist named Alan Cole bet his entire savings against Elon Musk and won. He placed a wager that, despite the SpaceX CEO's Department of Government Efficiency vowing to slash federal spending, it would not happen. Cole knew the obvious and threw all his money into different bets around the same topic, and collected more money than he had invested. It happened on the prediction market Kalshi, where he placed the bets nearly a year ago, the Wall Street Journal reported. Cole spent a total of $342,195.63 on several predictions that revolved around the same premise, that federal government spending will continue irrespective of what Trump said about slashing budgets. The bets were resolved on February 20 when the Bureau of Economic Analysis published its final figures for the year. Elon Musk: Musk Firms Linked To Classified Pentagon Drone Swarm Projects: Report | WION

Elon Musk's SpaceX, as per reports, is stepping into a new and controversial area of defence technology by joining a Pentagon competition to develop autonomous drone swarming systems powered by artificial intelligence. The project will also involve Musk's AI company xAI. Here’s what the technology is, and why the Pentagon wants it.
What is autonomous drone swarming?
Drone swarming technology allows multiple, networked unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones to operate as a single intelligence unit rather than as individual machines. Instead of a human pilot controlling each device separately, software enables the drones to communicate with one another, adjust their movements in real time, and complete missions together. Also read | 'Robots need your body': Are you up to 'rent' yourself to Artificial Intelligence? Jeffrey Epstein hooked up Kimbal Musk, Elon Musk's brother, with a woman, who reportedly "dated" for six months, according to the latest documents released by the Department of Justice. Kimbal is on the board of directors at Tesla. He was involved with the woman for around six months between 2012 and 2013. Epstein arranged the woman together with his longtime associate Boris Nikolic. They set up their meeting, getting the woman to a birthday party Musk was throwing. Emails show that Nikolic told Epstein, "please prepare [the woman] —;)". After Musk got together with the woman, he sent a thank-you email to Epstein and Nikolic. “Jeffrey and Boris, many thanks for connecting me with [the woman]. “I believe you both played a role. :)" Just before sending the email, he is believed to have had lunch at Epstein’s Manhattan apartment. While she was with Kimbal, the woman also sought help from Epstein on pursuing her relationship with the junior Musk. However, the documents do not show whether Kimbal knew about their backend interaction.
Kimbal Musk posts message on his relation with Epstein
Kimbal released a detailed message about the woman and their relationship on X, saying Epstein did not introduce them. He wrote, "This post is related to the Epstein Files and why my name is in them. In 2012, I started dating a woman who was 30 years old. I met her through a friend. Epstein did not introduce us." He added, "My only meeting with that demon was in his New York office during the day. I never met with him again, and I never went to his island." Referring to the many emails from him mentioned in papers, Kimbal wrote, “The reason he has so many emails from me is that he was subscribed to a newsletter I sent out to thousands of people every few weeks. My heart goes out to the many victims of Jeffrey Epstein, as it does for all who have suffered any kind of sexual abuse or harassment." However, the files show that Kimbal Musk exchanged numerous emails with Epstein and Nikolic in late 2012 and early 2013. He invited the paedophile to his birthday party and a SpaceX launch. Listen, just a few months back, Elon Musk was completely obsessed with Mars. The billionaire founder of SpaceX kept saying that Mars is humanity's future home, and he was dead serious about it. He even called our Moon a "distraction", can you imagine that? But something interesting happened recently. Out of nowhere, Elon made a shocking announcement on his social media X platform that SpaceX is now prioritizing Moon settlement before going to Mars. Now I want to share with you exactly why this dramatic shift is happening, and honestly, it makes a lot of sense when you really think about it. Here is the real thing: Elon never actually hated the Moon. The plan was always there somewhere in the background. But what changed is the timeline and the practical thinking. Let me explain this simply. Getting to Mars is like planning a wedding that takes 20 years to prepare. The problem is that Earth and Mars only align perfectly once every 26 months, and the journey itself takes six months. So the waiting period becomes super long. But the Moon? No, it is totally different. We can launch missions every 10 days, and reaching there takes only two days. This is like the difference between a local shop and a faraway mall, understand? The magic word here is "testing." Elon realized something very important: if SpaceX wants to perfect the technology of space settlement, they need to do it faster. With the Moon, they can launch missions repeatedly, make mistakes, learn from them, and improve everything in just months. With Mars, it could take decades to figure out what went wrong because you need to wait for the next launch window. This is actually very smart thinking. It is like learning to drive by practicing on empty roads first instead of jumping straight into highway traffic. Now here is the interesting part about resources. The Moon is sitting there with massive treasure locked inside. We are talking about water ice frozen in deep craters, rare earth minerals, metals like iron and titanium, and something called helium-3 that is worth billions. Recently, a company agreed to buy helium-3 from the Moon for around 300 million dollars per year. This is not some fantasy story; this is real business happening right now. The Moon has become a genuine economic opportunity, not just an adventure destination. Let me tell you about this electromagnetic mass driver thing that Elon is talking about. Basically, imagine a giant magnetic launcher on the Moon, like a cosmic catapult that uses magnetic force instead of rocket fuel. Because the Moon has weak gravity and no thick atmosphere, you can launch heavy objects into space much more easily from there. So the idea is to build factories on the Moon, use Moon materials to manufacture satellites, and then shoot them into deep space using this magnetic launcher. This way, you do not have to waste money bringing everything from Earth. It is like setting up a shop in the middle of a market instead of shipping products from far away. Here is something mind-blowing that Elon mentioned. If this Moon-based manufacturing works perfectly, humanity could send AI-powered satellites into space with the power capacity of 500 to 1000 terawatts every year. Now, think about what that means. There is something called the Kardashev scale that measures how advanced a civilization is based on how much energy it can control. Right now, humanity has not even reached level one on this scale. But with Moon manufacturing, we could be moving toward something that would make us genuinely advanced as a civilization. We could start using meaningful portions of the Sun's own energy. That is massive. But wait, there is another reason Elon is nervous about Mars right now. He recently said something that shows real concern: What if there is a natural disaster or a war that stops supply ships from Earth? If a Mars colony is completely dependent on Earth for supplies, and those supplies stop coming, everyone there dies. But a Moon colony could be self-growing and independent much faster because we can send rescue missions or supplies every 10 days if needed. This is not just about ambition anymore; this is about survival and making sure humanity does not put all its eggs in one basket. Look, Elon has not canceled Mars. He is saying that work on Mars will start in 5 or 6 years, and he is even predicting a crewed Mars mission by 2031. But the Moon comes first. It is the stepping stone, the practice ground, the economic foundation. The truth is that this shift from Mars to the Moon is actually the most practical decision Elon has made in a long time. It is faster, safer, more affordable, and it opens up real business opportunities. The Moon is not a distraction anymore; it is the smartest first step toward making humanity truly spacefaring. And honestly, that is genius-level planning.

Not a distraction: How the Moon became Musk's most practical bet

Tesla billionaire Elon Musk offered to pay for the legal costs of any victim of the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein if they decide to come forward and name their perpetrators. This comes after the Super Bowl advertisement featuring Epstein's victims was aired. “I will pay for the defence of anyone who speaks the truth and gets sued for doing so,” said Musk. Musk made the offer in response to a post by conservative commentator Matt Walsh. Matt Walsh indulged in victim-blaming, saying that this is an orchestrated attempt and the timing is just after the term of Joe Biden. “They could simply give the names to any of their many (and mostly very recent) advocates in Congress, who could read the names out loud from the floor, insulating themselves and these women from any litigation,” Walsh posted. “But they refuse to do that. Elon Musk himself have featured on the Epstein list. Before the latest dump of the Epstein files, Musk had vehemently advocated for the release of the Epstein Files. He claimed that Epstein had requested him on several occasions to visit his island. But as the files were released, there were several occasions when Elon Musk was insisting on visiting Epstein Island for the “wildest party”, one such instance, Epstein asked Ghislaine Maxwell to “deal with this". Musk went on a rampage at first, he denied ever setting foot on Epstein Island and “Lolita Express”, then he said it was a “smear campaign” against him. Both Musk and Walsh are engaging in psychological reductionism. Reducing everything to the individual perpetrators, instead of looking at the structure that aided and abetted Epstein, politicians, celebrities, media personalities, bankers, and billionaires maintained communication with him even after his conviction and patronised his parties and gatherings. It is unclear whether they are unaware of the fact that the victims in their testimonies have named several individuals, like Jes Staley, Leon Black, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Glenn Dubin, Marvin Minsky, Leslie Groff, Harvey Weinstein, etc. Further, these girls have been systematically harassed, abused and threatened by powerful people for maintaining silence.

Elon Musk is sounding the alarm on what he sees as an approaching ceiling for artificial intelligence development on Earth. In a recent podcast appearance, the tech billionaire argued that the planet’s power infrastructure simply won’t be able to keep up with AI’s rapidly growing demands, pushing advanced computing off-world far sooner than many expect. Musk believes the shift is not decades away, but imminent. He predicts that within roughly two to three years, operating large-scale AI systems in space will become cheaper than running them on Earth, driven primarily by energy constraints rather than software limitations. According to Musk, electricity, not algorithms, is the real choke point. He pointed out that the entire United States consumes roughly half a terawatt of power on average, and doubling that output would require an enormous and politically difficult expansion of power plants. Space, by comparison, offers a far more scalable solution. Solar panels in orbit receive uninterrupted sunlight and avoid atmospheric losses, allowing them to generate several times more energy than panels on the ground. Musk noted that when continuous power is available, the need for massive battery storage disappears, dramatically improving efficiency and cost. Also Read: ‘We need to know she is alive’: NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie appeals to kidnappers in emotional video
Watch the video here

With solar cells already inexpensive to manufacture, Musk argued that declining launch costs will soon tip the balance in favor of orbital AI infrastructure. Once that happens, he believes space will become the most practical location to build the next generation of computing power. https://www.wionews.com/videos/-trump-ex-nsa-russia-eyes-slovyansk-as-trump-seeks-epstein-reveal-1770289565514/embed Framing the issue as a long-term risk for humanity, Musk suggested that remaining Earth-bound could eventually leave society technologically stalled. He went so far as to predict that within a few years, more AI computing capacity will be deployed into orbit each year than the total amount currently operating on the planet.

Elon Musk Merges SpaceX With xAI

Tesla boss Elon Musk has once again dismissed the claims that he was in contact with child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein even as his name surfaced in the massive trove of fresh Epstein files. On Sunday (Feb 1), he called out “legacy media” saying that nobody had fought harder for the full release of the Epstein files than him, despite knowing that there would be smear campaign against him for the same. In his first response after his name appeared in emails to Epstein, he said that that he had never been to any Epstein parties ever, reiterating that justice in the case will only be served through the prosecution of those who committed crimes. Calling Epstein island “creepy”, the Space X CEO denied attending any party on Little Saint James island. “I knew that I would be smeared relentlessly, despite never having attended his parties or been on his “Lolita Express” plane or set foot on his creepy island or done anything wrong at all.” he wrote on X. Speaking for the justice of the children, Musk said that one in power “must protect those cannot protect themselves, especially vulnerable children.” “I will gladly accept any amount of future pain to do more to protect kids and give them a chance to grow up and have happy lives,” he added.

Also Read: Wild parties, drugs and STD claims: What newly released Epstein files reveal about Elon Musk & Bill Gates
Elon Musk and Epstein Files
Throughout 2024 and 2025, Must repeatedly called for the release of Epstein Files. Correspondence shows Musk coordinating potential visits to Epstein’s island in 2012 and 2013. In one email, Musk asked which day would be the “wildest party.” Additionally, the latest release also contains name of former Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, Howard Lutnick, Mira Nair, among others. The term “Epstein files” refers to a collection of legal documents, court records, and investigative materials connected to Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier convicted of operating a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls. It also includes transcripts of interviews with victims and witnesses and details of his flight logs. In November, US President Donald Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Bill after Congress' approval, and made it a federal law that mandates the DOJ to release all unclassified Epstein documents.

Elon Musk denied any wrongdoing after his name appeared in newly released Epstein files, rejecting claims he attended Epstein’s parties or visited his island. Musk accused legacy media of smears, defended transparency, and said justice lies in prosecuting offenders.

New reports and official statements from Ukraine and Poland are raising concerns that Russia may be using Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system to help guide drone attacks inside Ukraine. Originally supplied to Kyiv after Russia’s invasion in 2022, Starlink became a critical communications lifeline for Ukrainian forces and emergency services. However, defence analysts now say Russian drones may be using similar satellite connectivity to improve targeting accuracy, including in attacks on civilian infrastructure. Poland’s foreign minister has accused the service of profiting from war crimes, while SpaceX denies allowing offensive military use.
