The development comes after seven senators of the US Democratic Party, including Senators Richard Blumenthal and Elizabeth Warren, wrote to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Thursday, alleging that Elon Musk-owned Twitter was disregarding its users. The senators urged the antitrust law-enforcer to investigate any breach of consent between FTC and Twitter.</p>

<p>The lawmakers, , asked the agency to consider enforcement actions against the company and against individual executives where appropriate.</p>

<p>"In recent weeks, Twitter’s new Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, has taken alarming steps that have undermined the integrity and safety of the platform, and announced new features despite clear warnings those changes would be abused for fraud, scams, and dangerous impersonation," the lawmakers said in a letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan.</p>

While Twitter said that the number was somewhere around five per cent, Musk claimed that around 20 per cent users on the platform were bots.</p>

<p>While Musk has confirmed his attendance for the deposition, his team has still not made it clear whether he will be attending in person or through a video link. This will be the final time that both parties speak to one another before the trial officially&nbsp;begins at the Delaware Chancery Court.</p>

<p>In a letter sent to Twitter on Friday, Musk's lawyers said Twitter's failure to seek his consent before paying $7.75 million to Peiter Zatko and his lawyers violated the merger agreement. They say that the agreement restricted when Twitter could make such payments.</p>

<p>However, Twitter said payments made to the whistleblower did not breach any terms of its sale to Musk and that Musk's reasons for wanting to back out of the deal were "invalid and wrongful".</p>

<p>Zatko was fired in January as the company's security head. He accused the firm last month of falsely claiming it had a solid security plan and making misleading statements about its defenses against hackers and spam accounts. He is set to meet the US Senate Judiciary committee on Tuesday to discuss the allegations.</p>

<p>As per the company, Musk is ordered to close the deal it could still take months of additional litigation to close the debt financing, which expires in April.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now, Twitter asked the judge to reject Musk's proposal to hold the trial in February. Whereas, both sides will make their arguments about the trial's proposed to start.&nbsp;</p>

After 10-day absence, Elon Musk is back on Twitter with two pics; says, 'Feeling … perhaps … a little bored?'

<p>During a virtual town hall meeting, Elon Musk reportedly told Twitter employees that he wants the social media app to have a billion users while applauding TikTok for being entertaining, as well as China’s WeChat for keeping people engaged.</p>

<p>There are 229 million daily active users on Twitter till the first quarter of 2022.</p>

<p>The Verge, citing employees who heard the remarks, reported that Musk wants Twitter to replicate the success model of TikTok and WeChat in order to target one-billion users and that the app should offer more utility and make sure “people are very entertained and informed”.</p>

<p>He also made a comparison with&nbsp;WeChat, the super app in China that mixes social media with payments, games, and even ride-hailing.</p>

<p>“There’s no WeChat equivalent outside of China,” Musk was quoted as saying after joining 10 minutes late to the virtual meeting via his phone on Thursday.</p>

<p>“You basically live on WeChat in China. If we can recreate that with Twitter, we’ll be a great success.”</p>

<p>He also reportedly praised TikTok’s algorithm for not being “boring,” saying “we could hone Twitter in the same way to be interesting.”</p>

He also made a comparison with WeChat, the super app in China that mixes social media with payments, games, and even ride-hailing. “There’s no WeChat equivalent outside of China,” Musk was quoted as saying after joining 10 minutes late to the virtual meeting via his phone on Thursday. “You basically live on WeChat in China. We believe this agreement is in the best interest of all shareholders. We intend to close the transaction and enforce the merger agreement at the agreed price and terms.,” the official statement from Twitter read.</p>
