<p>Page said, "That`s essentially what happened." He added later that he wants to be open and honest about who he is to let others know they`re not alone, saying, "Extremely influential people are spreading these myths and damaging rhetoric -- every day you`re seeing our existence debated."</p>

<p>"Transgender people are so very real," Page further said.As for his own "privilege," Page told the magazine that it "has allowed me to have resources to get through and to be where I am today. And of course I want to use that privilege and platform to help in the ways I can," he added.</p>

<p>The `Juno` actor also discussed his childhood, including asking his mother if he "could be (a boy)&nbsp;someday" and being forced off of a boys` competitive soccer team.</p>

<p>Speaking about the anti-trans legislation surrounding sports teams today, Page said, "I would have been in that position as a kid. It`s horrific."</p>

<p>Since Page, who uses he/him and they/them pronouns, came out as transgender, he has been offered a slew of opportunities in terms of acting, directing, and producing -- many related to trans stories, and some "dude roles."</p>

<p>Having played Vanya Hargreeves on `The Umbrella Academy` since it premiered in 2019, Page said the role appealed to him because he "related to how much Vanya was closed off."</p>

<p>When he returned to set to begin filming the Netflix superhero series` third season, co-workers were extremely supportive, although some have used the wrong pronouns accidentally. "It`s going to be an adjustment," said the Oscar nominee. Going forward in his career in general, "I`m really excited to act, now that I`m fully who I am, in this body," Page said. "No matter the challenges and difficult moments of this, nothing amounts to getting to feel how I feel now," the actor added.</p>

<p>Page has starred in films like `Juno`, `X-Men: The Last Stand` and `Inception`. On the personal front, the Oscar-nominated star had filed for divorce from wife and choreographer Emma Portner in New York in January.</p>

<p>“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” Page wrote on Instagram. “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer.”</p>

<p>Page, 33, was nominated for an Academy Award for playing a pregnant teenager in 2007 film ‘Juno’ and starred in other movies including 2010 sci-fi thriller 'Inception.'&nbsp;The actor currently appears in Netflix superhero series ‘Umbrella Academy.’</p>

<p>In the Instagram post, Page said he would use he/they pronouns.</p>

<p>“The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared,” Page said. “I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the ‘jokes,’ and of violence.”</p>

<p>Actor Ellen Page has revealed that during her early 20s she felt 'very depressed and very anxious' due to the constant media scrutiny in her sexuality.</p>

<p>The 31-year-old actor, who came out as a homosexual in 2014, told The Observer that it would have been 'very harmful' for her if somebody had revealed her sexuality before her.</p>

<p>"I have a responsibility to be out now, because I have these resources. I can access therapists and security and support. But the reality is a lot of people can be in severely grave danger. I think, for instance, it would have been very harmful for me if someone had outed me earlier. "</p>

<p>"When I was 20, someone wrote an article with the headline: 'The Ellen Page Sexuality Sweepstakes' in the Village Voice. 'Is Juno a you know?' I never even touched a woman outside until I was 27. I was very depressed, and very anxious. I was not well," she added.</p>

<p>When the #MeToo movement started in Hollywood in 2017, Page was one of the women who had accused director Brett Ratner of inappropriate behaviour.</p>

<p>In a lengthy Facebook post Page accused Ratner of making the slur about her to other actors during the first day of filming the movie, in which she was starring as Kitty Pryde.</p>

<p>Recalling the incident, Page said, "Something had switched. I wanted to talk about the sh**tiness I'd seen. I've dealt with these difficult things, whether it's directors trying to sleep with me when I was 16, or stalkers. But there are people in society who deal with far, far worse and cannot access the resources I have."</p>

<p>"What changed for me after publishing that was the realisation how much crazy s**t happened that was so normalised. And I internalised it. It's disturbing. Then, talking about it does really open something in you, which is painful in many ways. But that's what's letting us all connect and have the conversations, about intersectional feminism, etc," she added.&nbsp;</p>
