"I was all-in for President Trump," he said on Trump ally Roger Stone's radio show.
Bessent attended Yale University and served as chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management, the macroeconomic investment firm of liberal billionaire George Soros.
In 2015, he raised capital, including $2 billion from Soros, to start his own hedge fund.
More recently, Bessent said he had not spoken to Soros in years.

Bessent is chief executive at Key Square Group, but has committed to resigning from the position at the hedge fund and divesting his partnership share upon confirmation.

During his confirmation hearing, Bessent recounted taking an internship in finance &ndash; a job that came with an office pullout sofa, allowing him to live in New York rent-free.
"I've been involved in the financial markets ever since," he told lawmakers. "My life has been the only-in-America story that I am determined to preserve for future generations."
Urging for all tools to be used "to realign the economic system to better serve the interests of working Americans," Bessent has criticized "unfair distortions" in global trade.
He previously floated the idea of Trump nominating a "shadow Fed chair" to dilute the influence of Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell.
But he has since dropped the idea and stated that he supports the central bank's independence in policymaking.
"President Trump is going to make his views known, as many senators did," Bessent said in his hearing on January 16.
He added that on monetary policy, the Fed's rate-setting committee "should be independent."

However, the White House later announced that Colombia had backed down and agreed to accept the migrants, including those arriving on US military planes, without any restrictions or delays.

However, in his comments to reporters on the flight, Trump said he had not spoken to Oracle's Larry Ellison about buying TikTok.

"Congress has given 90 days. If we can save TikTok, I think it would be a good thing," the president added.&nbsp;

Days after ordering a US exit from the global health agency over what he described as a mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and other international health crises, President Donald Trump on Saturday (Jan 25) said that he may consider rejoining the World Health Organization (WHO).
"Maybe we would consider doing it again, I don't know. Maybe we would. They would have to clean it up," Trump said at a rally in Las Vegas.
The US is scheduled to leave the WHO on Jan 22, 2026. Trump announced the move on Monday after he was sworn in for a second term in the White House.

Trump told the crowd in Las Vegas he was unhappy that the US paid more to the WHO than China, which has a much bigger population.
"China pays $39 million for 1.4 billion people and we're paying $500 million for 325 million- I don't know what the hell is wrong with these people," Trump said.
Additionally, Trump also revealed plans to work with Congress on a bill that would cut taxes and fulfil his campaign promise to prevent any taxes on workers' tips, as well as potentially halting the hiring of over 80,000 new IRS agents. "Your tips will be 100 per cent yours, won't that be nice?" he remarked.
