Kapoor plays a sort of rebel, a narcotics officer called Sumair who right at the beginning of the film pulls off a drug heist in Delhi's Connaught Place along with an aide. The purpose of the heist is not known. What is known, though, is that it belongs to hotelier and drug lord Sikandar Chaudhary (Ronit Roy) who wants it back. And so as a retaliation, he kidnaps Sumair's son Atharv (Sartaaj Kakkar). The deal is simple, the duffle bag that Sumair has stolen contains cocaine worth Rs 500 million which Sikandar wants back and in exchange, Sumair can take his teenage son back. While the deal seems simple, there are multiple players involved. There are fellow officers Sameer (Rajeev Khandelwal) and Aditi (Diana Penty) who are after Sumair and want to arrest him, there is a local mafia leader Hameed who has his claims over the bag as well. While the writing, by Zafar, Aditya Basu, Siddharth and Garima, may not always be very logical, the implementation on screen is slick. Despite the wafer-thin plot which leaves many questions unanswered, the film's treatment and its credible actors make it an engaging watch. Shahid Kapoor has performed better in other films, where his acting has been well-highlighted. <em>Bloody Daddy</em> is not that film. That does not take away anything from the actor though. He is in good form and eases into a poorly written role well. The character lacks depth which is perhaps the writer's fault but Kapoor looks and performs his character well- sometimes reminding you of his recent roles in <em>Farzi</em> and <em>Kabir Singh.&nbsp;</em><br />

Giving him able support are actors Ronit Roy, Ankur Bhatia, Rajeev Khandelwal and Diana Penty who in their limited roles deliver well and do justice to their characters. Sanjay Kapoor too, in what appears to be a cameo role, performs to his role well. Wish all these actors though had more to do - all are credible performers and deserved more screen time.&nbsp;<br />

While the script may appear incoherent in certain parts, there are moments in the film which stand out. Kapoor barges into the wedding party as he is chased by Roy and his men, climbs up on an elaborately decorated table, trampling over champagne glasses, &nbsp;while the bride and groom and their guests look in horror. The scene is well executed and is quite a delight to watch even though there are very few dialogues in it. Then near the climax, Badshah croons on stage as violence ensues in the background.&nbsp;<br />

<em>Bloody Daddy</em> may not have a legible plot, but surprisingly it still keeps you hooked. You may want to know a few things here and there, yet you will immerse yourself in the film as Kapoor and Khandelwal fight it out in the kitchen with knives instead of guns.&nbsp;<br />

<p><strong>Selfiee movie review:</strong> There's a sense of Deja <em>Vu</em> when you start watching Raj Mehta's latest film <em>Selfiee.</em> Starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, this comedic thriller highlights the toxic relationship that actors, fans, and media share in India. <em>Selfiee</em> is familiar not just for those who have watched the original film in Malayalam called Driving License (2022) but also for those who have watched and loved Ayushmann Khurrana, Jaideep Ahlawat starrer <em>An Action Hero </em>which was released a few months back. While Avinash Iyer's film was darker and more twisted, Raj Mehta's Selfie keeps the story simple and comedic -aiming to make it a mass entertainer.&nbsp;<br />

<em>Selfiee</em> pits its lead actors Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in a battle of wits. One plays an extension of himself while the other represents the fans who make an actor a star. Akshay Kumar plays superstar Vijay Kumar who is in Bhopal, a city in central India to shoot his next film. A crucial sequence in the film requires him to have a valid driving license in order to secure permission for a shoot for the producer. Vijay, of course, doe not have one. The local Road Transport Office (RTO) inspector Om Prakash Aggarwal (Emraan Hashmi) is summoned to expedite the process.<br />
A fan of the star himself, Aggarwal agrees to help with only one condition in place, he wants to click a selfie with his son and the superstar before handing him over the coveted license. It's a five-minute job that Vijay readily agrees to be a part of but things go awry at the last moment which leads to a battle of egos between the two men. And the license is of course nowhere in sight.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Based on the late Malayalam writer Sachi's story with a screenplay by Rishabh Sharma, Selfie starts off on a promising note and showcases Akshay Kumar in all his glory. One can see the efforts the makers have put in to make it a quintessential Akshay Kumar blockbuster. The plot is meta&nbsp;- Kumar&nbsp;is a popular actor who values his well-wishers and fans and does not want to do anything wrong in front of the public eye. It's a role that has Kumar playing himself. On the other hand, Hashmi plays a small-towner inspector who knows he only has limited powers but is happy and content with his job. While on paper, the story holds a lot of promise, it falters in the implementation level.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
A common man's rigidity versus a superstar's clout could have been played out on screen cleverly&nbsp;but writers use the usual tropes of a typical masala entertainer to tell this story. The result is middling. By the time of the climax, the film seems like a stretch with ample melodrama thrown in.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Director Mudassar Aziz says he is planning to take the 'Happy Bhag Jayegi'&nbsp;franchise forward with a third part.</p>

<p>The filmmaker, who directed last year's 'Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi', a sequel to the 2016 film, said he is yet to finalise the plot in a concrete manner.</p>

<p>"Audience has given so much love to our franchise that we feel grateful to them about it. When you make something as franchise people might like different things from a film. As makers, we have to make sure people like everything.''&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We plan to make the third part. There are few ideas but we haven't worked upon it yet in a concrete way," Aziz told PTI.</p>

<p>The director said after he is done with his forthcoming release 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'&nbsp;and a slice-of-life film with Viacom18 Motion Pictures, which he said he will finish by mid-2020, he will work on the third film.</p>

<p>Besides Diana Penty, 'Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi'&nbsp;also featured Sonakshi Sinha.</p>

<p>About 'Pati, Patni...'&nbsp;the filmmaker said his film is an ode to the 1978 comedy. The remake stars Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday.</p>

<p>"It is a contemporary version. The original is a pioneer film. It would be silly to just reconstruct that in today's time. Marriages and relationships have changed over the decades. Women have come a long way. When we decided to do this, we knew there is a great potential in the plot," he added.</p>

<p>Production is underway and Aziz said the team is expected to finish shooting by August end.</p>

<p>The film is slated to be released on December 6.</p>

John's 'Parmanu' beats Madhuri's 'Bucket List' on day 1

<p>The Pokhran test&nbsp;of 1998 is perhaps one of the most iconic incidents of Indian defence. It's something that the Indian scientists, the intelligence, and the army are proud of- and rightfully so. A film based on the historic incident should ideally make for an interesting watch. Afterall, there is so much to learn from the covert operations that made India a nuclear state. There is so much to feel proud of the&nbsp;historic past. But does director Abhishek Sharma's film 'Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran' - based on the incident- induce any such feelings?&nbsp;Not quite.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
'Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran' weaves together the story of how India secretly conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajasthan between May 11 and 13 in 1998. The tests, in the film, are attributed to six individuals. John Abraham plays IAS officer Ashwat Raina, the leader of the pack who puts together a team of intelligence and army officers and scientists to carry out the secret operation. They have limited time in hand, we are told. But with Ashwat breaking into lectures about how nothing comes before motherland, and everything is for the country, the motley group seem to be charged up and fight against the odds.&nbsp;</p>

It also doesn't help that the film is very poorly edited- there are too many loose ends, too many empty spaces between dialogues where the characters are not doing much which&nbsp;slackens the pace to a great extent.&nbsp;</p>

We get the film's intent though. Credit should be given to the makers for choosing a story like this for mainstream cinema. But is that enough to make it an engaging watch?&nbsp;</p>

Diana Penty is there only to add a bit glamour to the otherwise all-male team.&nbsp;</p>

John Abraham starrer 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran' finally gets a release date

<p>The fate of <em>Parmanu</em> remains undecided as producers KriArj and John Abraham have got involved in a bitter legal battle. &nbspJohn Abraham Entertainment has terminated a contract with production company KriArj Entertainment but the actor's production house has assured that the film will get a release date soon.</p>

<p><em>Parmanu</em>&nbspwas scheduled to release on December 8 last year. Its release date got pushed to February 23, 2018 and then to April 6.&nbsp</p>

<p>But clearly, the film, based on the nuclear tests conducted at Pokhran in 1998, won`t hit the screens on Friday as all`s not well between the co-producers.</p>

<p>A statement issued by John Abraham Entertainment read: "In the best interest of the film, we have terminated our contract with KriArj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and will soon announce the release schedule."</p>

<p>Termination of the agreement by actor John Abraham`s company "is valid and legal".</p>

<p>"KriArj has committed material breaches which left us with no choice but to terminate in the interest of the film. We would like to state that this extreme step has been taken by us after days of trying to resolve the issues at hand in the best interest of the release of the film.</p>

<p>John Abraham Entertainment has time and again sat on the marketing campaign and the dates have been pushed at least three times, thanks to "delayed payments".&nbsp</p>

<p>KriArj "without our approval has gone out and made statements giving false reasons for the delay".</p>

<p>Any future attempts by KriArj to "jeopardise the film or defame the production house and/or the film, like they have done in the past with other films, will compel us to initiate legal proceedings against them".</p>

<p>The statement comes a day after KriArj Entertainment said: "In response to the trade notice issued by John Abraham Entertainment claiming termination of their agreement with us for the film `Parmanu...`, please note that the said termination is illegal and invalid."</p>

<p>"Our rights in the film as a joint producer/presenter and owner of all rights are fully secured, we have always fulfilled all our commitments till date and have clear intent to continue doing so."</p>

<p>"John Abraham Entertainment has also always been aware that Zee Studios are KriArj`s partners in the film from very early stages as co-producers and also the acquirers of the overseas theatrical, digital, satellite and music rights of the film."</p>

<p>They blamed John Abraham Entertainment for not fulfilling its "commitment of completing and intimating us of the completion the film and is fraudulently trying to delay the release of the film thereby causing huge monetary losses and damage to our reputation".&nbsp</p>

<p>The statement also read: "It goes without saying that any one dealing with the film or any of its rights through John Abraham Entertainment will be doing so at their own risk and peril and will also have to face legal consequences."</p>

<p>"We have already instructed our attorneys who will be moving the necessary authorities soon for seeking justice against the breaches committed by John Abraham Entertainment and its promoter Mr John Abraham."</p>

The fate of Parmanu remains undecided as producers KriArj and John Abraham have got involved in a bitter legal battle. &nbspJohn Abraham Entertainment has terminated a contract with production company KriArj Entertainment but the actor's production house has assured that the film will get a release date soon.
