Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk has talked highly of his idol and IPL teammate David Warner but confirmed that the 2024 T20 World Cup squad selection is not on his mind. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old caught everyone's attention for smashing a record-breaking 29-ball hundred in List-A cricket for South Australia last year. Though none of the 10 teams at the December IPL auction picked him in the first place, his introduction to the IPL opened doors for his chances of breaking into the Australia side for the 2024 T20 World Cup starting June 1.

It still hurts me that had I worked on those skills back then, I could have dominated even more. But it didn't happen back then as experience is something that you get only when you play a lot. When you encounter failure in life, then only you learn and now I am more confident about my skills and at the same time respectful of the fact that opposition can be good too."

The Indian cricketer added, "Back in the day, I didn't do (respect opposition) that. I believed in my skills but then at the same time you need to understand how the batter is playing and that maturity has come, knowing my strength and where to bowl so that it is difficult to hit, and I am working on that."

Not only for DC, Kuldeep has become a regular for India, especially in the longer formats. A sensational run in IPL 2024 can certainly book his ticket for the 2024 T20 World Cup&nbsp;to be held in the West Indies and USA in June. "Because of the Impact sub rule, everyone gets one more batsman so they think that they will use the batsman in case&nbsp;the batting unit doesn't go well. And whosoever comes to play, they don't take much time and start (hitting) from the first ball because they know that they have a player in seventh or eighth place," Axar said as quoted by news agency PTI.

"That is why I am not a big fan of the rule, because as an allrounder I know that they will either take a proper batsman or a bowler, not an allrounder," he added.

His teammate and fast bowler Mukesh went one step ahead and questioned the relevance of the rule as it is not applicable at the international level.

"If 12 players are not playing at the international level, then what is the need for it in IPL? With 12 players, even if four wickets are down, the next player is not scared of getting out or making the team stable, they come and play their shots. So either the nature of tracks should be changed or 12 players should not be allowed," said Mukesh.

Notably, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were brutal in the powerplay as they tore apart a bowling attack comprising of Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. Head reached his fifty of just 16 balls - joint fastest for SRH along with Abhishek Sharma who achieved the feat&nbsp;few days back.&nbsp;

West Indies veteran Brian Lara feels Rishabh Pant’s homecoming in IPL 2024 will be an emotional period for the Delhi Capitals’ Captain. Following playing two matches at their adopted home ground in Vizag earlier this season, Pant’s DC has returned to Delhi (at the Arun Jaitley Stadium) for their evening game against SunRisers Hyderabad on Saturday (April 20).

Speaking to Star Sports ahead of the marquee clash between Delhi and Hyderabad, Lara said,

“Getting the opportunity to go home and play in front of your own crowd after so long, it's going to be an emotional period. Rishabh Pant is doing so well in the IPL, his first season back. And it's something that you want to experience as a cricket fan. Rishabh Pant, going back to that stadium, it's going to be just electric. And I think it's going to be an awesome match.”

Meanwhile, having last led Delhi in IPL 2022, Pant suffered a horrific road accident on December 30 of the same year. His car ramped into the dividers before overturning several times and catching fire.&nbsp;

Pant underwent several surgeries, including on both knees, before beginning with rehab and joining the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to get in shape for a return to the cricket field. Upon getting treated at the NCA ahead of this season, Pant was declared fit for competitive cricket.&nbsp;

While the DC owners and even Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly insisted that Pant would play as a specialist batter, the attacking left-hander received a clearance certificate from the doctors to keep wickets in IPL 2024.

Delhi Capitals (DC) won their second match on the trot and third overall in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after thrashing Gujarat Titans (GT) by six&nbsp;wickets on April 17. With the win, DC, who were ninth on the points table before the match, now stand at sixth place. Chasing a target of 90, DC made small task of it and reached the winning mark in just ninth&nbsp;over.

DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk was fiery in the start of the chase, scoring 20 off 10 before getting out on the last ball of the second over. Prithvi Shaw was the next to fall for a six-ball seven but it had no affect on scoring. Abhishek Porel (15 off 7) and Shai Hope (19 off 10) then added 34 runs in 14 balls as DC effectively closed the game.

Earlier, GT had won the toss and elected to bowl first at home in Ahmedabad. DC, however, had other plans and brought GT on its knees by taking four wickets inside the powerplay. The wickets also involved a sensational run-out and an athletic catch by skipper Rishabh Pant as well.&nbsp;

The IPL has already seen multiple high scores including the highest team total in the league history - two of them have been posted by SunRisers Hyderabad.

"Quite often, big tournaments like the IPL and the Big Bash (League, BBL) back in Australia have been won by the best defensive bowling teams. But the way this IPL is going - and [with] the different rules in the IPL - it looks like it will be won by the team that's most willing to take on the bowling, and try and post some really big scores. I think it's potentially more attacking batting that's going to win this IPL than defensive bowling," Ponting opined.

KKR got 260-odd [272 for 7] against us. I think the impact player is having a big effect on the way teams are batting. You watched the way Travis [Head] batted last night. You can't bat that way unless you've got confidence in the players underneath you and you bat deep in your batting order as well."

Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 29 runs on April 7. MI bowlers didn't let DC keep up the run rate and Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with a searing yorker to DC batter Prithvi Shaw. The DC opener was looking to take the game on with 40-ball 66 before being dismissed by Bumrah.

Chasing a mammoth 235, DC were rocked early after David Warner departed in the fourth over with 22 on board. Shaw wasn't at his fluent best but still gave a decent account of himself to suggest he deserved a permanent spot in the playing XI.&nbsp;

Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show with the ball for MI as he struck in successive overs to kill any hope of a DC resurgence. The Indian speedster finished the quota of four overs with figures reading 2/22.&nbsp;
