One of the individuals named in the report is Rev Canon Andrew Cornes, a central member of the Crown Nominations Committee, the secretive body responsible for appointing the next Archbishop of Canterbury. The primary purpose to set up the report was to make suggestions on how the church can cooperate with families and households while referencing Christian tradition.

In the study, one of the main themes is to "honour singleness and single person households" as they are appropriate for a diversified society.

Welby stated Wednesday that the research "encourages us to prioritise the hopes, needs, and aspirations of families - in all their diversity." It is a trilogy which concludes with "Love Matters" report.

Leaders from Anglican churches in the global south are planning to meet on Monday to deliberate on the issue and take a dominant position within the church. News reports suggest that there are plans to relegate Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, to a marginal position.

As quoted by The Guardian, archbishop of Alexandria Samy Fawzy Shehata told the synod that “crossing this line of blessing same-sex unions will alienate 75% of the Anglican Communion” and “lead eventually to impaired and broken communion”. Synod is the governing body of the Church of England.

“God cannot bless what he calls sin. The C of E has departed from the Anglican faith and are now false teachers,” said Stephen Kaziimba, the archbishop of Uganda, as quoted by The Guardian.

The decision was reached hours after heated debate which underlined deep divisions on the matter.&nbsp;The Church's General Synod -- comprising hundreds of elected members, which meets two or three times a year -- backed the proposals by a wide margin following an eight-hour debate across two days.

In all, 250 bishops, clergy and laity supported the reforms, while 181 remained opposed. There were 10 abstentions. The vote was held at the Synod gathering in central London.

These rules were unveiled after nearly six years of internal debate. Latest reforms will not, however, change rules that ban Anglican priests from officiating at weddings of same-sex couples.

Synod members supported an amendment endorsing that stance, while also voting in favour of the proposal to allow blessings for civil marriages or civil partnerships in a church.

Significantly, the members recognised "the failure of the Church to be welcoming" to LGBTQ people. This has followed an unprecedented apology in January from bishops for the "hostile and homophobic response" they have sometimes faced.

Progressive Anglicans are still not happy as they maintain that the Church is not going far enough. There are also critics who say that any changes pertaining to same-sex marriage are divisive and unwelcome.

Bishop of London Sarah Mullally welcomed the Synod's backing for the changes, and acknowledged the splits with the Anglican church in Britain and beyond.

The Church's General Synod -- comprising hundreds of elected members, which meets two or three times a year -- backed the proposals by a wide margin following an eight-hour debate across two days. In all, 250 bishops, clergy and laity supported the reforms, while 181 remained opposed. There were 10 abstentions. The vote was held at the Synod gathering in central London. These rules were unveiled after nearly six years of internal debate. Latest reforms will not, however, change rules that ban Anglican priests from officiating at weddings of same-sex couples. Synod members supported an amendment endorsing that stance, while also voting in favour of the proposal to allow blessings for civil marriages or civil partnerships in a church. Significantly, the members recognised "the failure of the Church to be welcoming" to LGBTQ people. This has followed an unprecedented apology in January from bishops for the "hostile and homophobic response" they have sometimes faced. Progressive Anglicans are still not happy as they maintain that the Church is not going far enough. There are also critics who say that any changes pertaining to same-sex marriage are divisive and unwelcome. Bishop of London Sarah Mullally welcomed the Synod's backing for the changes, and acknowledged the splits with the Anglican church in Britain and beyond. Dr Robert Innes, a senior Bishop at the Church of England was quoted in a report in The Telegraph. Innes also said that the word woman was previously 'self-evident' but now 'additional care needed to be taken.

To be fair, Innes did mention the context of "complexities associated with gender identity", but on record admission of there being "no official definition" of woman has quite expectedly ruffled feathers.

It was a written question to the General Synod, the legislative body of the church.

The comment has begun attracting flak from gender rights campaign groups.

"When the Government redefined women through the Gender Recognition Act, the Church of England could have stuck with its long-established understanding, which makes sense whether your starting point is biology or the Bible," said Maya Forstater, Executive director of the Sex Matters campaign group. "It is shocking that they so readily gave up the definition of man or woman for the state to amend, as if this fundamental truth did not matter."

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the church's senior-most bishop asserted that ''no doubt'' over the ''deeply institutionally racist'' nature of the church, CNN reported. 
 
Reverend Andrew Moughtin-Mumby had introduced the motion regarding the apology to the synod. It was as a response to him that Welby made these comments. 
 
"We did not do justice in the past, we do not do justice now, and unless we are radical and decisive in this area in the future, we will still be having this conversation in 20 years time and still doing injustice," he said. 
 
Moughtin-Mumby alluded to the family of Doreen Browne. In 1961, they were prohibited from entering the St Peter's Church in Walworth owing to the colour of their skin.

It's imperative to note here that Church was specifically talking about the ''Windrush generation'', who were a group of Caribbean migrants that came to the UK after the culmination of World War II.

The government of Britain had called on them to help rebuild their country, which led to an influx of migrants into the country.

“At our meeting of the College of Bishops of the Church of England this week we continued our commitment to the Living in Love and Faith project which is about questions of human identity, sexuality and marriage."

“This process is intended to help us all to build bridges that will enable the difficult conversations that are necessary as, together, we discern the way forward for the Church of England.”

Last week, the Church of England issued a pastoral guidance that said sex belongs only within heterosexual marriage, adding that intercourse in gay or straight civil partnerships “falls short of God’s purpose for human beings”.&nbsp;

After the apology, LGBT activist Jayne Ozanne said that she was grateful for the statement but added “more than words is now needed”, reported the Guardian.&nbsp;
