"The Cyclonic Storm "FENGAL" [pronounced as FEINJAL] over north coastal Tamilnadu &amp; Puducherry remained practically stationary during the past 1 hour and lay centred at 0030 hrs IST of today, the 01st December over the same region near latitude 12.0°N and longitude 79.8°E, close to Puducherry, as a cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph. The cyclonic storm "FENGAL" will move west-southwestwards slowly and weaken gradually into a deep depression during the next 3 hours. The research conducted by property consultants ANAROCK group revealed a shift in homebuyer preferences, with more people preferring to buy larger properties.

The study polled 7,615 respondents between the ages of 24-78 across 14 Indian cities. The findings showed that 52 per cent of homebuyers in Delhi-NCR opted for 3BHK apartments while 38 per cent preferred 2BHKs.&nbsp;

The report also highlighted the regional buying patterns, with more people in southern India preferring residential plots, when compared to those in northern and western Indian regions.

As per the findings, around one-third of homebuyers in the southern Indian cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad said that they prefer buying residential plots. On the other hand, 70 per cent of buyers in northern and western Indian regions like Delhi-NCR and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) said they preferred apartments.

Rents surged by up to 70% in 7 major Indian cities including Delhi: Study

A doctor was stabbed seven times at a government hospital in the Indian city of&nbsp;Chennai on Wednesday (Nov 13) by a man who alleged that his mother, who was a cancer patient, was prescribed the wrong medications.&nbsp;

The oncologist was stabbed multiple times in Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital, including in his chest. He was also a heart patient and suffered injuries to his upper chest, head, scalp, neck, and ear.&nbsp;

Following the incident, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Currently, he is in a stable condition, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said.

A senior doctor said that his colleague had a pacemaker and was cut on his forehead and back, and was also hit on his stomach.&nbsp;

The 25-year-old man has been arrested now, following the incident.&nbsp;

We have been gifting bikes to the employees and in 2022 we gifted the car to two of our senior colleagues. We have gifted 28 cars today. Some of them are Maruti Suzukis, Hyundais, Mercedes Benz as well.." he said.

To clarify a query, the company said they would offer the car or bike with a ceiling amount. If the employee needs a better vehicle than what the company has chosen, he needs to pay the remaining amount, Kannan said.&nbsp; 
 
However, the cars are not the only reward, the company said it also provides funds to employees as marriage assistance.

"If a colleague is getting married, we were giving them ₹50,000 as marriage assistance. Now, we have increased that to ₹1 lakh from this year," he said.

"We expect this gesture (from the company) to boost morale, motivation and productivity. We are proud to recognise the employee efforts. We will continue to prioritise employee development and customer satisfaction,"&nbsp;he added.

Several people have been injured after a Mysore to Darbhanga Bhagmati Express collided with a goods train at Kavarapettai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Friday (Oct 11) evening, according to railway police.&nbsp;

The incident further led to a fire breaking out in two coaches of the express train. According to reports, several people have been injured, but no fatalities have been reported, at the time of writing.&nbsp;

At least 13 coaches derailed in the incident.&nbsp;

Rescue operations have begun, Thiruvallur District Collector T Prabhushankar said.&nbsp;

According to initial reports, the train crew experienced a heavy jerk on the track, causing the express train to move onto a loop line and crash into the parked goods train.&nbsp;

Following the incident, the Southern Railway’s Chennai Division has released emergency helpline numbers: 044-25354151 and 044-24354995.

Dilip Kumar, executive director of information and&nbsp;publicity for the Railway Board, said that the relief and rescue team has reached the incident site and evacuated over 90 per cent of the passengers.

“Information has been received about the accident of 12578 Bagmati Express. So far, the relief and rescue team from the railway has reached the accident site and the work of evacuating passengers from all the coaches is going on. More than 90% of the passengers have been evacuated. We have not received any information of any casualty or serious injury so far,” he said.&nbsp;

The event is to take place at Chennai's iconic Marina Beach, where more than a million people are expected to gather. It is after a hiatus of two decades that an air shoe is returning to Chennai and the Indian Air Force has a stellar lineup for mesmerising those at the Marina.

Sunday's air show is part of the Indian Air Force's 92nd-year celebrations. Following the open-to-public air show on Sunday, a restricted-access IAF Day parade will be held on&nbsp;Tuesday (Oct 8), at Air Force Station Tambaram, on the outskirts of Chennai city.&nbsp;

Over the last two years, the Raising Day of India's tri-services have been held in different cities across the country.

This is aimed at showcasing the valour, might, and capabilities of the Indian armed forces, while also inspiring youngsters to take up a career in service of the nation. Notably, among the aviators that will be flying on Sunday are two Chennaiites.&nbsp;

<h2>A rare mix of Russian and Western aircraft</h2>

A total of 72 aircraft will be taking part in the air show and this will include fighter jets, transporter aircraft, helicopters, and special aerobatic display teams, vintage aircraft.&nbsp;

Notably, air shows by the Indian Air Force have the unique distinction of featuring both Western aircraft and Russian aircraft, which is extremely rare. Sunday's air show will feature the French-origin Rafales, Mirage-2000, Airbus-C295MW, the Russian Sukhoi-30 MKI, Mig-29 fighters, the IL-78 MD Refuelling tanker, the European SEPECAT Jaguar deep penetration strike aircraft, the American C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifted, P-8I 'Poseidon' anti-submarine warfare aircraft, among others. The air shoe will also feature vintage planes such as the Dakota and Harward.

Interestingly, the Indian Air Force is the world's largest operator of the Russian-origin Sukhoi-30, of which the MKI version is the India-specific aircraft. With more than 260 in number, the Su-30MKI is regarded as the backbone of the Indian Air Force's fighter fleet.

The massive Su-30, also known as the 'Flanker' is the world's largest operational fighter aircraft. A fully loaded Sukhoi-30 weighs around 39 tons.&nbsp;

The Indian government has set an ambitious target of surpassing $5 billion&nbsp;in defence exports by 2025, from the present $2.63 billion. This ambition stems from the export potential that the Indian establishment sees in the homegrown defence ecosystem.&nbsp;
