Latest on Drake vs Kendrick Lamar beef

In the last 36 hours, Lamar has released two diss tracks targeting Drake. And it seems that the beef is not going to end anytime soon between the two rappers. Drake released “Family Matters” on Friday, which was quickly followed by Lamar putting out “Meet the Grahams” at midnight. Since Lamar was in no mood to wait for a rebuttal, he doubled down with “Not Like Us” on Saturday night.

Both Drake and Lamar have gotten really personal and brutal in the new diss tracks. While Drake suggested that Kendrick’s son was actually fathered by Kendrick’s general manager, Dave Free, in "Family Matters", Lamar opened "Meet the Grahams" by telling Adonis he’s sorry Drake is his father. Lamar also mentioned Drake's alleged secret daughter and accused him of employing sex offenders at OVO.

French actor Gérard Depardieu, 75, is set to face trial over allegations of sexual assault, Paris prosecutors have announced. Depardieu, one of the biggest stars of French cinema, was summoned to a Paris police station on Monday morning (Apr 29) for questioning regarding separate allegations brought by women who worked with him on film sets in 2014 and 2021.

According to broadcaster BFMTV, Depardieu was released from custody later the same day and denies the accusations, his lawyer stated. However, Paris prosecutors have confirmed that Depardieu will appear in court in October 2024 to face charges of sexual assault allegedly committed in September 2021 against two women during the filming of the movie Les volets verts (The Green Shutters).

One of the women involved in the 2021 incident alleges that Depardieu assaulted her on the set of the film, which was released the following year. Her lawyer told BFMTV that the victim was "passing through a corridor where Mr. Depardieu was sitting. He grabbed her, trapped her between his legs, and touched her body up to her breasts. She felt completely powerless, incapable of escaping this trap."

This is not the first time Depardieu has faced such accusations. In 2020, he was charged with the rape of actor Charlotte Arnould when she was 22-years-old in 2018. The prosecutor's statement on Monday also revealed that Depardieu is under investigation for offences of rape and sexual assault allegedly committed in August 2018 against Arnould.

Kim Kardashian shocks fans with icy blonde hair transformation ahead of Met Gala 2024

Morgan Freeman spoke the words, but pretty much everyone who took the stage at the presentation of the AFI Life Achievement Award agreed: “ Nicole Kidman. She makes movies better.”

The line came in a video parody of Kidman’s AMC Theatres “we make movies better” ad that opened the Saturday night ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. It got huge laughs from the crowd of multigenerational A-listers there to honor the 40-year career of the 56-year-old Australian that has included roles in Moulin Rouge, Eyes Wide Shut and an Oscar-winning turn in The Hours.

Meryl Streep, Kidman’s The Hours co-star who presented to Streep the Life Achievement Award that she won herself in 2004, got laughs nearly as big when, in a mock-boastful voice, she described the hardest part of being “incessantly called the greatest actress of my generation.”

It’s when you come up against someone else who is “really, really, really, really, really, really great” and you realize they did things you couldn’t do, as happened with Kidman the first day they worked together on the HBO series Big Little Lies, Streep said.

Streep and their Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon both did spot-on, Australian-accented impressions of Kidman that had the audience in stitches.

Streep also drew tears from Kidman when describing what she believed motivated her.

“People call it bravery when an actress bares all and leaps off into the unknown and she dives deep into the darker parts of what it is to be a human being,” Streep said. “But I don’t think it’s bravery. I think it’s love. I think she just loves it.”

Kidman teared up for the first time in the evening when her husband and fellow Australian, singer Keith Urban, said she showed him “what love in action really looks like” when his substance abuse problems emerged almost immediately after they wed in 2006.

“Four months into our marriage, I’m in rehab for three months,” Urban said, looking at Kidman where she sat on a dais with their two daughters and other family. “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own, and she chose love. And here we are 18 years later.”

Kidman said the night was the first time she allowed their teenage daughters to join her on a red carpet. She also has two children with her first husband, Tom Cruise.

She accepted the AFI award in the same venue where she accepted her Oscar in 2003 for playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours.

She thanked by name every director she has worked with, including Stanley Kubrick, Jane Campion, Baz Luhrmann, Sofia Coppola, Yorgos Lanthimos, Sydney Pollack and Lars von Trier.

“It is a privilege to make films. And glorious to have made films and television with these storytellers who allowed me to run wild and be free and play all of these unconventional women,” Kidman said, wearing a floor-length, glittering-gold gown. “Thank you for making me better at my craft and giving me a place, however temporary, in this world.”

It was announced back in November of 2022 that Kidman would receive the award, first handed out in 1973, whose previous winners include Orson Welles, Bette Davis, Alfred Hitchcock, Gene Kelly, Sidney Poitier, Barbara Streisand, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington and Julie Andrews.

The ceremony originally was scheduled for June of 2023, but delayed because of Hollywood’s strikes. It will air on TNT on June 17.

Kidman also was nominated for Academy Awards for Moulin Rouge, Rabbit Hole, Lion, and Being the Ricardos, whose director, Aaron Sorkin, also sang her praises at the ceremony.

Others honouring her included Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Zoe Saldana and Mike Myers, who came on stage in disguise in one of the eerie orgy masks from Eyes Wide Shut.

Kidman began her career as a teen in Australia in films including Bush Christmas and BMX Bandits. Naomi Watts, a friend from those days, described meeting Kidman when both had to sit in a waiting room in bathing suits for two hours at an audition. Aussies Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Cate Blanchett all gave video tributes to the first from their country to win the award.

Kidman said in a video played at the ceremony that her appearance in the 1989 thriller Dead Calm brought her to the attention of, among others, Cruise, the only time his name was spoken Saturday night.

She had her breakthrough Hollywood role alongside him in 1990’s Days of Thunder — they would marry the same year — and also starred together in 1992’s Far and Away and in 1999 in Kubrick’s final film, Eyes Wide Shut.

She divorced Cruise in 2001, but her stardom only grew. Some of her biggest roles, and her Oscar, were still to come.

The role most often cited as a favourite during the awards show Saturday night was her musical turn in Luhrmann’s 2001 Moulin Rouge.

Freeman, the 2011 AFI honoree, in his in-person presentation that followed the video spoof, serenaded Kidman with the modified Elton John lines she sings in the film: “How wonderful life is, now you’re in the world.”

Morgan Freeman spoke the words, but pretty much everyone who took the stage at the presentation of the AFI Life Achievement Award agreed: “ Nicole Kidman. She makes movies better.

“Thank you for making me better at my craft and giving me a place, however temporary, in this world.” It was announced back in November of 2022 that Kidman would receive the award, first handed out in 1973, whose previous winners include Orson Welles, Bette Davis, Alfred Hitchcock, Gene Kelly, Sidney Poitier, Barbara Streisand, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington and Julie Andrews. The ceremony originally was scheduled for June of 2023, but delayed because of Hollywood’s strikes. It will air on TNT on June 17.

AFI Life Achievement Award: Nicole Kidman thanks directors who let her 'run wild, be free'

While some TikTok hacks are life-changing, others are simply useless. Remember, those lip-plumping hacks that never work or the 5-minute Crafts videos with too many jump-cuts that don't make your life any easier. And, when it comes to makeup, you should always be sceptical about what you see on the screen because most makeup hacks are just too gimmicky to be true.

Recently, TikToker Aaliyah Jamil claimed to have found the best dupe for a makeup primer. She revealed that she uses butter or a butter spread before applying the foundation. She claims that using butter instead of a primer has changed her makeup game. "It gives a dewy finish, helps contour glide on the skin and feels luxe on the skin," claims Jamil.

But can you really use butter as a primer? Is it safe? And, does it give good results? Well, the simple answer is no! And, there are several reasons for the same!

First and foremost, it's just gross to apply butter on your face. The smell, the texture and the colour will definitely gross you out. It will feel heavy and sticky on your skin and will be difficult to wash out.

Secondly, butter has food preservatives, emulsifiers, salt and several other ingredients that are not skin-safe. It can clog pores and cause breakouts and irritation.

Now coming to the results, your foundation base may look patchy if you use butter as a primer. The makeup products that you apply on your skin may also fade away quickly or transfer to your clothes.

You can, however, use butter as a makeup remover. It will work as a cleansing cream on your skin and will help you get rid of waterproof mascara, matte lipsticks and dark eyeshadows.

If you do not wish to use a primer or you don't have one, you can use aloe vera gel or moisturiser as a primer. You can also apply coconut oil to your face to get a dewy finish. But butter, I would advise you to stay away from it.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber got candid on social media on Saturday as he shared a sombre selfie which shows him shedding a tear. Though he didn't explain what left him sad, fans were quick to cheer him up and pen loved-up notes.

His wife Hailey Bieber also left a cheeky comment on the post, which read, "A pretty crier (emoji)."
Meanwhile, a fan wrote, "I hope you are doing okay, I hate to see tears running down your face." Another commented, "I love that you’re not afraid to show your vulnerability and emotions. It’s always great to remember that behind every single celebrity, there’s still a human being. YOU ARE LOVED."

A third comment read, "After the rain, the sun is shining again. Never give up! There are so many out there who love you just the way you are."

Other snaps from the carousel showed the singer performing on different stages, a few buds of marijuana and a painting. Check it out below!

In a recent development, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is facing serious allegations from a former security guard, Benjamin Deshon Provo. Provo, who worked as security for West at both his private school Donda Academy and at a warehouse for his Yeezy brand clothing, has accused the artist of subjecting Black employees to discriminatory treatment.

The lawsuit, filed by Provo, alleges that West frequently screamed at and berated Black employees, and ultimately fired Provo for refusing to cut his dreadlocks. This is the latest in a series of complaints against West.

Earlier this month, another employee filed a similar complaint claiming discrimination and harassment while working for West at Donda Academy and Yeezy.

The recent complaint, filed on April 26 in Los Angeles, details Provo's employment history with West. He began working for the rapper in August 2021 and spent six months at Donda Academy before it relocated. Provo then performed security services at West's Sunday Service events and at his Yeezy warehouse.

According to the complaint, Provo was asked to place himself and paparazzi "in harm’s way" and was instructed to dispose of books related to Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and other prominent figures in the Black community.

Provo also alleges that he was paid less than non-Black employees for no discernible reason and that West was always abrupt, abrasive, and demeaning towards him and his Black counterparts. When Provo complained about the pay disparity, he was allegedly told by his manager John Hicks not to bring up money to West.

The complaint further claims that in April 2023, West demanded that Provo and others shave their heads, despite Provo wearing his hair in dreadlocks as an expression of his Muslim faith. When Provo refused, he was reportedly told by his manager that West said, "Tell the one with the dreads to shave his head or he is fired." Provo's employment was then terminated.

Provo is seeking damages for alleged discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, labour code violations, and attorney fees, among other claims. He is also seeking injunctions against all defendants, prohibiting them from owning and operating educational schools for minors in California.

This lawsuit adds to the legal troubles West is facing currently, including a suit filed by former employee Trevor Phillips earlier this month. Phillips alleged that West spewed hateful, antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric within earshot of students and that he once told students he would build a jail at the school where they could be locked in cages.

Also read: Historic! 60-year-old wins Miss Universe Buenos Aires: Know all about her Provo also alleges that he was paid less than non-Black employees for no discernible reason and that West was always abrupt, abrasive, and demeaning towards him and his Black counterparts.

Nicole Kidman graced the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, where she was honoured as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious award. The 46-year-old Oscar winner attended the annual event by the American Film Institute on Saturday, April 27, accompanied by her husband Keith Urban and their daughters Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13. Looking absolutely regal, the actress graced the red carpet in a custom gold sequin gown from Balenciaga's Fall '24 collection. The stunning outfit had a long train made from the same material. To accessorise, she opted for black pumps, diamond-studded earrings and a matching bracelet. She styled her blonde hair in a side part with loose tresses framing her face from one side.
The singer R. Kelly was correctly sentenced to 20 years in prison on child sex convictions in Chicago, a federal appeals court ruled Friday. Jurors in 2022 convicted the Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, on three charges of producing child sexual abuse images and three charges of enticement of minors for sex.

In his appeal, Kelly argued that Illinois’ former and shorter statute of limitations on child sex crime prosecutions should have applied to his Chicago case rather than current law permitting charges while an accuser is still alive.

He also argued that charges involving one accuser should have been tried separately from the charges tied to three other accusers due to video evidence that became a focal point of the Chicago trial.

Federal prosecutors have said the video showed Kelly abusing a girl. The accuser identified only as Jane testified for the first time that she was 14 when the video was taken.

The three-judge panel from the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Friday’s ruling noted that jurors acquitted Kelly on 7 of the 13 counts against him “even after viewing those abhorrent tapes.”

The appeals court also rejected Kelly’s argument that he should not have been prosecuted since the allegations occurred while Illinois law required prosecution of child sex crime charges within ten years. The panel labelled it an attempt by Kelly to elude the charges entirely after “employing a complex scheme to keep victims quiet.”

In a written statement, Kelly’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean said they plan to seek a U.S. Supreme Court review of the decision and “pursue all of his appellate remedies until we free R. Kelly.”
