In another tragic incident, six migrant workers, who were walking along the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway, were killed after a speeding bus ran over them on late Wednesday night.

The incident took place near Ghalauli check-post. Three more workers were injured in the accident. A case has registered against an unknown bus driver, by the Muzaffarnagar Police in connection with the incident.

According to the police, the migrant workers who lost their lives belonged to Gopalganj, Bihar and were returning to their native place during the lockdown on foot. Further investigation is underway.

At least 33&nbsp;people were killed and 37&nbsp;others were injured after a private bus fell into a drain in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.

The accident occurred near Banjar area of Kullu when the bus fell into a deep gorge.

The bus which was carrying around 50 passengers was on its way from Banjar to Gadagushani area.

Superintendent of Police, Kullu, Shalini Agnihotri said that the bodies of 15 people killed in the accident were recovered.

"The injured were taken to the local hospital in Banjar," she added.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was overcrowded and the driver probably lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn.

Twenty-nine German tourists were killed when their bus spun off the road and tumbled down a slope before crashing into a house on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

Drone footage of the aftermath of the accident showed the badly mangled wreckage of the bus resting precariously on its side against a building on a hillside, the vehicle's roof partially crushed and front window smashed.

Rescue workers attended to injured passengers among the undergrowth where the bus came to rest, some of them bearing bloodied head bandages and bloodstained clothes, others appearing to be more seriously hurt.

Local authorities said most of the dead were in their 40s and 50s.

They were among the more than one million tourists who visit the Atlantic islands off the coast of Morocco each year, attracted by its subtropical climate and rugged volcanic terrain.

"Horrible news comes to us from Madeira," a German government spokesman tweeted after the crash.

"Our deep sorrow goes to all those who lost their lives in the bus accident, our thoughts are with the injured," he added.

German holidaymakers were the second largest group after British tourists to visit the islands -- known as the Pearl of the Atlantic and the Floating Garden in the Atlantic -- in 2017, according to Madeira's tourism office.&nbsp;

The islands are home to just 270,000 inhabitants.&nbsp;

Filipe Sousa, mayor of Santa Cruz where the accident happened, said 17 women and 11 men were killed in the crash, with another 21 injured.&nbsp;

A doctor told reporters another woman died of her injuries in hospital.

"I express the sorrow and solidarity of all the Portuguese people in this tragic moment, and especially for the families of the victims who I have been told were all German," President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told Portuguese television.

He said he would travel to Madeira overnight.&nbsp;

29 German tourists killed in Portuguese island bus crash

Eight people were killed on Friday morning when a privately operated bus rammed into a stationary truck on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, officials said.

Another 20 people on board the bus were injured and rushed to a private hospital for treatment, police said.

Officials in Lucknow said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed Gautam Buddh Nagar police and administration chiefs to expedite assistance to the victims.

An Indian national was among five others who were killed when a bus veered off the road and fell into a river in Nepal's Nawalparasi district on Sunday.

An Indian national, Bidhananda Yadav, a resident of Bihar, died in the accident in the Madhya-Bindu Municipality, the police said.

The bus en route to Bhairahawa from Ithari lost control and fell into the Arun river in the Municipality killing five persons on the spot, including a minor boy, according to the police.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, a seriously injured passenger succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Medical College, said District Police Office, Nawalpur.&nbsp;

According to the police, 36 of the injured passengers have been undergoing treatment at the hospital while six persons, who have sustained minor injuries, have returned home.

Poor road infrastructure and reckless driving are the leading causes of accidents in Nepal.

According to the WHO, road accidents are the world's eighth leading cause of death. About 70 per cent of the deaths from road accidents occur in developing countries.

As per Nepal's traffic police data, on an average of five to seven people are killed in road accidents every day in the country.
