Fresh Russian shelling on Sunday morning killed at least six civilians and injured eight in Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine, a senior Ukrainian official said. The place is just about 20 kilometres west of Bakhmut, the battleground for the war in the last eight months as Russian forces try to gain a stronghold in the city.&nbsp;

"Russians have carried out massive shelling of the town of Kostiantynivka," Andriy Yermak, head of the office of&nbsp;Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said on the Telegram messaging app.

Yermak also shared photos of the region that was hit, showing partial destruction of buildings and craters from explosions.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed his forces for pushing out Russian troops from around Kyiv a year ago. Zelensky, on Sunday, hailed Ukraine for repulsing "biggest force against humanity".

"You have stopped the biggest force against humanity of our time. You have stopped a force that despises everything and wants to destroy everything that gives people meaning," Zelensky said on Telegram. He also shared&nbsp;photos of areas liberated a year ago, when Russian troops retreated from around the Ukrainian capital.

Earlier, the chief of the army said that Ukraine will continue to fight for its independence, a year after bodies of civilians were found in Bucha after the retreat of Russian troops.&nbsp;

"We will continue to fight for the independence of our nation," Valery Zaluzhny wrote on Telegram.

The Bucha district, which has become synonymous with allegations of Russian war crimes, is the place where over 1,000 dead bodies have been discovered.

According to Kyiv's regional police chief Andriy Nebytov, "The victims were tortured for a long period of time, bullet wounds were found on the extremities. Finally, each of the men was shot in the ear."

He said the men's clothes showed they were civilians and were found in shallow graves in woods near the village of Myrotske, close to what had been Russian military positions.

In the Kyiv region, 1,202 bodies of civilians have been examined by the forensic laboratories after being killed by Russian occupiers.

Russia facing a massive boycott by the West which has levied a plethora of sanctions on both its officials and oligarchs.

Ukrainian security officers are cracking down on the ''traitors'' helping the Russian troops, with President Volodymyr Zelensky saying “Accountability for collaboration is inevitable, and whether it will happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow is another question.”&nbsp;

“The most important thing is that justice will be served inevitably,” he told news agency Reuters.

''Ukrainian authorities are actively using the practice of Western countries, in particular the UK, which imposed harsh restrictions on civic liberties in warring Northern Ireland'' said Volodymyr Yavorsky, coordinator at the Centre for Civil Liberties, one of Ukraine’s largest human rights groups.

''Some of those restrictions were deemed unjustified by human rights advocates, but others were justified, when people’s lives were in danger,” he said.

"It's the same kind of fake in Bucha," Putin said.

According to Ukrainian prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko, at the site "Seventy bodies were found, mostly civilians, as well as those of a policeman and two soldiers."

"According to preliminary findings, they are the bodies of a family whose vehicle burned after being hit by a Russian armoured vehicle," he added.

Borodyanka is located about 25 km from Bucha.

He offered no further details or evidence that Russia was responsible for the deaths of civilians in the city.

The alleged killing of civilians in the city of Bucha has been largely condemned by the West as war crimes with countries lobbying for tougher sanctions against Russia.

Multiple countries have also come together and expelled Moscow's diplomats, accusing them of spying.

According to local authorities, more than 300 people were killed by Russian forces in Bucha, 35 kilometres northwest of the capital Kyiv, and at least&nbsp;50 of them&nbsp;were executed.

However,&nbsp;Moscow has denied that its forces have committed any atrocities against civilians. The country says that the gruesome&nbsp;images of bodies in Bucha were staged by the Ukraine government so as to derail peace negotiations and justify additional sanctions against Moscow.

At the United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine on Tuesday, India has condemned the killing of civilians in Bucha and has supported an independent investigation into it.

Bucha, a suburb of Ukraine's capital Kyiv was under Russian occupation during the ongoing war and as its troops left the area, the dead bodies of several civilians were discovered. Russia has been held responsible for the killings, something Moscow has been dismissing but hasn't found many takers of that.

Speaking at the meeting, India's Permanent Representative to United Nations T.S. Tirumurti said, "Recent reports of civilian killings in Bucha are deeply disturbing. We unequivocally condemn these killings and support the call for an independent investigation." Several images and videos have emerged of bodies strewn across the town, many of them which had hand-tied in the back. Ukraine had requested an International Criminal Court investigation into developments in Bucha. According to the mayor of the town, 300 of its inhabitants were found dead.

Expressing concern, Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti said, "The situation in Ukraine has not shown any significant improvement since the Council last discussed the issue. The security situation has only deteriorated, as well as its humanitarian consequences." Tuesday's UNSC meet saw Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressing the top UN body giving details about what happened in the town.

The Indian envoy pointed out how, "India has been sending humanitarian supplies to Ukraine and its Neighbours, which include medicines and other essential relief material" and Delhi "stands ready to provide more medical supplies to Ukraine in the coming days." India has sent 90 Tonnes of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine, which includes medicines and essentials.&nbsp;

During the address, Ambassador Tirumurti pointed to the "impact of the crisis is being felt beyond the region with increasing food and energy costs, especially for many developing countries. "Since the war energy prices, especially oil prices have substantially increased adding to the overall increased inflation globally. This has particularly hit hard developing and low-income countries emerging from the covid pandemic.&nbsp;

India has been calling for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine for an immediate cessation of violence. PM Modi has spoken to Russian President Putin and President Zelenskyy several times, calling for dialogue. Indian envoy to the UN explained, "When innocent human lives are at stake, diplomacy must prevail as the only viable option. In this context, we take note of the ongoing efforts, including the meetings held recently between the Parties."

Tuesday's meeting saw an address by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary Dicarlo and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Martin Griffiths. There have been several meetings of the UNSC on Ukraine since January. Ukraine had requested an International Criminal Court investigation into developments in Bucha. According to the mayor of the town, 300 of its inhabitants were found dead. Expressing concern, Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti said, "The situation in Ukraine has not shown any significant improvement since the Council last discussed the issue. The security situation has only deteriorated, as well as its humanitarian consequences."
