The statement read: "Following ongoing conversations with the BCCI, the ECB can confirm that the fifth LV= Insurance Test between England and India Men due to start today at Emirates Old Trafford, will be cancelled."

"Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team."&nbsp;

"We send our sincere apologies to fans and partners for this news, which we know will cause immense disappointment and inconvenience to many," it concluded.&nbsp;

Players expressed their concerns over playing at the Old Trafford after India's second physio, Yogesh Parmar, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.&nbsp;

The match was predicted to go as planned after all Team India players tested negative in the PCR results.&nbsp;

Following Parmar's positive result, there were speculations that the fifth and final Test will now not go on as planned, however, the scenario has changed after no further positive cases came out from the Indian camp in the PCR results.&nbsp;

India were up by 2-1 in the five-match series, however, after the cancellation, the scoreline remains uncertain.&nbsp;

India's former captain and current BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has confirmed his biopic is on the cards. The news regarding a feature film being made on the former Team India skipper was doing the rounds for quite a while. On Thursday (September 9), the 49-year-old announced that his biopic will be out soon and is set to be produced by Luv Films.&nbsp;

Ganguly took to his official Instagram handle to share the development with one and all. He penned a heartfelt note on the gentlemen's game and how it has contributed in his growth and stature. He wrote, "Cricket has been my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen."

On the other hand,&nbsp;Luv Films --&nbsp;the production house founded by filmmaker Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg -- also shared the film announcement on Instagram. "We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly's biopic," the statement read.&nbsp;"We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings," the producers further said.

The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday invited bids to acquire the right to own and operate 1 (one) of the 2 (two) new teams proposed to be introduced to take part in the tournament from the 2022 season, through a tender process.

"The detailed terms and conditions governing the submission and evaluation of bids including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, proposed new teams` rights, and obligations, etc. are contained in the `Invitation to Tender` ("ITT") which will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee of INR 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax," said the BCCI in an official release.

The ITT will be available for purchase till October 5. Interested parties have been requested to send an email at ittipl2021@bcci.tv to get further details for purchasing the ITT. The email requesting the ITT should have the subject line "ITT for the Right to Own and Operate One of Two Proposed New IPL Teams". Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the ITT. However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the ITT and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. The IPL, which is currently an eight-team tournament, will become a 10-team affair from the next edition and during a recent governing council meeting, the modalities of the bidding process were chalked out. The BCCI on Tuesday also invited bids to own an IPL franchise with "Invitation to Tender" available for purchase till October 5. "Any company can buy the bid document paying Rs 10 lakh. Earlier top brass was thinking about keeping the base price for two new teams at Rs 1700 crore but later it was decided to keep the base price at Rs 2000 crore," a senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The source, who has dealt with the financial side of IPL in the past, said that the BCCI stands to gain at least Rs 5000 crore if the bids go as per plan with plenty of large business conglomerates showing active interest in bidding. "The BCCI is expecting anything in the range of 5000 crore if not more. There will be 74 IPL games next season and it's a win-win situation for everyone." The BCCI statement added: "The Governing Council of the IPL invites bids to acquire the right to own and operate 1 (one) of the 2 (two) new teams proposed to be introduced to take part in the Indian Premier League from the IPL 2022 season, through a tender process. In a welcome news, the BCCI is planning to allow a consortium to bid for teams as it makes the bidding process more vibrant. "I think more than three business entities won't be allowed to form a consortium but if three business come together and wants to jointly bid for a team, they are welcome to do so," he said. Among the venues where the teams could be based include Amedabad, Lucknow and Pune.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, with bigger capacities, could be the choice for franchises. Some of the names that are doing the rounds include the Adani group, RPG Sanjeev Goenka group, noted pharma company Torrent and a prominent banker who has shown active interest in buying teams.

IPL 2022: BCCI expects Rs 5000 crore windfall as base price for new teams kept at Rs 2000 crore

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has informed all affiliated units that the board will not hold this year`s Annual General Meeting before September 30 owing to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. The secretary further said the members will be informed about the date of the AGM once decided.

In the letter, accessed by ANI, the secretary also informed the members of the Government Order which allows for the extension of the AGM. "Owing to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the Tamil Nadu Government in their G.O.(D). No. 96 dated 30th June 2021 ("Government Order") have extended the period for a registered society under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, to conduct an Annual General Meeting for the financial year 2020-2021, by three months, from September 2021 to December 2021."

"In view thereof, you are hereby informed that the BCCI will not have its Annual General Meeting by 30 September 2021. We will keep you informed regarding the date of the Annual General Meeting," he wrote.

The BCCI had held its 89th Annual General Meeting on December 24 last year. The board officials were recently in England to witness the second Test between India and England at the Lord`s Cricket Ground and the Virat Kohli-led side won the game handsomely.

The office-bearers also had a meeting with the players and coaching staff to discuss the road ahead as the team will be playing in the T20 World Cup once the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League is over.

While the T20 World Cup was initially set to be held in India, it had to be moved to UAE with an eye on the COVID-19 situation. The tournament will see arch-rivals India and Pakistan clashing on October 24.&nbsp;
