<p>She entered the House in 2012 and then the Senate in 2016, where she is one of the 100-strong chamber’s 23 women.</p>

<p>Duckworth has made advocating for working-class families a key focal point of her service in Congress.</p>

<p>Goa police have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly selling her 11-month-old son for Rs two lakh.</p>

<p>Shaila Patil, the mother of the child, alleged buyer Amar Morje (32) and Patil's friends Yogesh Gosawi (42) and Anant Damaji (34) who helped her strike the deal were arrested yesterday after her husband lodged a complaint.</p>

<p>Inspector Harish Madkaikar of Ponda police station, who is investigating the case, said Patil allegedly sold the child keeping her husband in the dark as she needed money.</p>

<p>All the accused live in Pernem tehsil. Shaila Patil is originally from Pune.</p>

<p>She asked her friends Gosawi and Damaji to help her sell her baby son, saying she badly needed Rs two lakh.</p>

<p>Gosawi and Damaji contacted Morje, who is married but childless and was allegedly willing to buy a baby.</p>

<p>The child was handed over to Morje on March 23, the police officer said.</p>

<p>Patil's husband was away at the time. He found out what had happened on his return, and approached police, inspector Madkaikar said.</p>

<p>Police have registered a case under anti-trafficking provisions of the Indian Penal Code, he said.</p>

<p>Also, on Friday the Wadala TT police probing a baby-selling racket on Thursday received the DNA paternity test report of biological fathers of two babies sold by the parents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A 16-day-old boy was today snatched by a monkey from his home in Odisha's Cuttack district, prompting authorities to launch a massive search operation.</p>

<p>The baby was sleeping next to his mother at their home in Talabasta village when the monkey snatched him, sources in the forest department, which is involved in the rescue mission, said.</p>

<p>The mother saw the monkey fleeing with her baby and raised an alarm. Thereafter, the villagers reported the incident to the authorities.</p>

<p>Forest department and fire services personnel reached the village and launched a massive operation to trace the baby.</p>

<p>A forest department official engaged in the rescue operation said, "As the child has trouble crying, we cannot hear his voice. It has, therefore, become difficult for us to trace him in the forest."</p>

<p>He said 30 forest department personnel in three teams led by Sangram Keshari Mohanty, the ranger of the Damapada Forest Range, are combing the nearby forest along with the villagers.</p>

<p>Several persons were injured in attacks by monkeys in the area a few days ago. Locals alleged inaction on the part of the forest department despite repeated complaints in this regard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The baby girl is suffering from severe microcephaly, a birth defect marked by small head size that can lead to severe developmental problems, after she was delivered through cesarean section at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey, the news website NorthJersey.com reported.</p>

<p>U.S.&nbsp;health&nbsp;officials have concluded that Zika infections in pregnant women can cause microcephaly. The World&nbsp;Health&nbsp;Organization has said there is strong scientific consensus that Zika can also cause Guillain-Barre, a rare neurological syndrome that causes temporary paralysis in adults.</p>

<p>The connection between Zika and microcephaly first came to light last fall in Brazil, which has now confirmed more than 1,300 cases of microcephaly that it considers to be related to Zika infections in the mothers.</p>

<p>The unidentified premature newborn also suffers from intestinal and visual issues, Manny Alvarez, chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Hackensack, told NorthJersey.com.</p>

<p>&quot;You could see the pain in her heart,&quot; Alvarez said of the mother, the website reported.</p>

<p>Hospital officials were not available for comment.</p>
