Arijit Singh's London concert abrupt end shocks fans; Here's why

<p>English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran just dropped his new song <i>Sapphire,</i> which has been loved for by fans in India. Not just the peppy track, where Sheeran even sings a few lines in Punjabi, and the music video shows snippets of India when Sheeran was here earlier this year. Shah Rukh Khan and Arjit Singh too feature on the video. Sheeran is known to be friends with Arijit, and the duo have even collaborated live on stage before. Recently, the English singer revealed that he first heard Arijit Singh while watching <i>Aashiqui 2 </i>and was blown away by the song <i>Tum Hi Ho.&nbsp;</i></p><h2>On watching Aashiqui 2 and creating core memories&nbsp;</h2><p>“I first became aware of @arijitsingh music when I watched <i>Aashiqui 2</i> and heard <i>Tum Hi Ho</i>. I was proper spellbound by his voice, the song, the scene in the movie. I checked him out, and got in touch, and said whenever you wanna sing together I’m down. He was playing London, so I went to guest with him and sing Perfect there, it was an incredible show,” the 34-year-old singer wrote in a heartfelt note on Instagram recently.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“I played him an early version of Sapphire in the dressing room, and he instantly had ideas for instruments and melodies. We then were pen pals over email for a bit, until I was in India for a tour. I said to him, we should finish this in person, and he said, please come to my hometown so I can show you my home and culture,” he added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In February this year, the singer met with Arijit after his concert in Mumbai and enjoyed a scooty ride at the latter’s hometown in Jiyaganj, West Bengal. Videos of the two riding on a bike in the bylanes of Jiyaganj went viral soon after.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sheeran also shared that his India trip was with his father and how Arijit helped him to create a core memory with his dad.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p><p>“Me and him got a flight to Kolkata, then a 5 and a half hour drive to his hometown. We arrived, went on a barge down the river, which was stunning, then got a scooty back to the studio where we finished the song.”<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Arijit taught Sheeran how to speak Punjabi and play the sitar, the Perfect singer mentioned in his note. “We then had dinner, and scooted around the village to see the sunset and moon with my dad,” he wrote. <h2>Ed Sheeran’s India visit</h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Earlier this year, the Thinking Out Loud singer visited India for the India leg of his Mathematics tour. This year, Sheeran first performed in Pune’s Yash Lawns on January 30, followed by a concert in Hyderabad on February 2. The singer also collaborated with A.R. Rahman during his Chennai concert on February 5.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sheeran then performed in Bengaluru on February 8 and February 9. He also enthralled fans with his music in Shillong on February 12 and in Delhi on February 15.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sheeran has performed in India multiple times before. The singer had performed in India in March 2024. Before that, he visited India during his x Tour in 2015 and his Divide Tour at Mumbai’s Jio Gardens in 2017.</p>

He was playing London, so I went to guest with him and sing Perfect there, it was an incredible show,” the 34-year-old singer wrote in a heartfelt note on Instagram recently. “I played him an early version of Sapphire in the dressing room, and he instantly had ideas for instruments and melodies. We then were pen pals over email for a bit, until I was in India for a tour. I said to him, we should finish this in person, and he said, please come to my hometown so I can show you my home and culture,” he added. In February this year, the singer met with Arijit after his concert in Mumbai and enjoyed a scooty ride at the latter’s hometown in Jiyaganj, West Bengal. Videos of the two riding on a bike in the bylanes of Jiyaganj went viral soon after. Sheeran also shared that his India trip was with his father and how Arijit helped him to create a core memory with his dad. “Me and him got a flight to Kolkata, then a 5 and a half hour drive to his hometown. We arrived, went on a barge down the river, which was stunning, then got a scooty back to the studio where we finished the song.” Arijit taught Sheeran how to speak Punjabi and play the sitar, the Perfect singer mentioned in his note. “We then had dinner, and scooted around the village to see the sunset and moon with my dad,” he wrote. The winners of the coveted awards were announced on Friday in New Delhi and Rishabh Shetty won the Best Actor award for <em>Kantara</em> while the hugely popular <em>KGF2</em> won the Best Kannada Feature Film award. Actress Nithya Menen won Best Actress award for <em>Thiruchitrambalam</em> which she shared with Manasi Parekh for <em>Kutch Express.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p>The Malayalam-language drama&nbsp;<em>Aattam</em>&nbsp;won the Best Feature Film award</p>

<p>Actor Manoj Bajpayee earned a special mention from the jury for his performance in<em> Gulmohar</em> which also fetched the Best Hindi Film award.&nbsp;Neena Gupta won Best Supporting Actress for her role in <em>Uunchai </em>which also fetched its director Sooraj Barjatya the Best Director award.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starter Brahmastra won in music category with Arijit Singh winning Best Male Playback Singer and Pritam winning Best Music award.&nbsp;The film also won for its animation and VFX.&nbsp;<br />

The announcement was made in New Delhi by the I&amp; B ministry. The winners will be felicitated later in October this year by the President of India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Singer Arijit Singh's Dubai concert has become the talk of the internet. Any guesses why? Because of the singer's sweet shout-out to the Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, after the Bollywood singer failed to recognise her.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At his recent gig in Dubai, Arijit&nbsp;sang the song ''Zaalima'' from Shah Rukh Khan's movie <em>Raees</em>. Incidentally, Mahira, on whom the song has been picturised, was sitting in the front row but Arijit failed to recognise her.&nbsp;However, Arijit&nbsp;was quick to offer an apology to the actress.</p>

<p>Making up for his little mistake, the ''Tum Hi Ho'' singer gave an adorable shout-out to the actress from the stage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>''Can we have camera there. I have been trying to recognise this person, then remembered I have sung for her. Ladies and gentlemen Mahira Khan sitting right infront of me. Think about I was singing her song ''Zaalima'' and it's her song and she was singing and standing and I couldn't recognise her. I am so sorry. Maam gratitude and thank you so much,” he says.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The camera pans towards Mahira and shows her on the big digital screen. Dressed casually, the actress waved at the audience with her sweet smile.&nbsp;</p>

On Thursday (Oct 19), Bollywood star Salman Khan shared the first glimpse of his new song from <em>Tiger 3. </em>The song is special as it has singer Arijit Singh doing playback for Salman Khan for the first time in both their careers. Singh, the top playback singer of India, has had a long-standing feud with Salman Khan. Rumours of the two burying their past differences have been doing the rounds recently. On Thursday, Salman confirmed that all is well between him and the popular singer.&nbsp;<br />

To this the singer responded, "Aap logon ne sula diya (You all put me to sleep)." The actor then replied that it is not their fault if songs like <em>Tum Hi Ho</em>&nbsp;keep on playing.<br />

Following this, Arjit Singh's songs were removed from Salman's films, including <em>Sultan</em>&nbsp;and <em>Bajrangi Bhaijaan</em>. Shamir (Tandon), the composer of the song and I were interested in a certain texture of voice and Rahat suited it perfectly. So we asked him.
