<p>Koppal district in-charge Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi called for the urgency of emptying the dam. He said: "We may have to release at least 60 to 65 TMC of water. The problem can be resolved only after 20 feet of water is released."</p>

<p>While there is no immediate threat of flooding, authorities have cautioned the public to stay away from the Tungabhadra River due to the heavy discharge from the dam.</p>

<p>Leader of the Opposition, R Ashoka, said that such a situation would not have arisen if the state's Congress government had held regular meetings of the dam’s technical committee and ensured it was in fit shape.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also water resources minister, is busy working as an agent of the (Congress) high command rather than managing his department… There were ample opportunities for the government to repair the dam which was empty during drought last year. But where was the time for the DyCM to repair it as he was always busy seeking his turn to be CM?," the BJP leader said.</p>

We will also support the development of road connectivity projects- Patna -Purnea expressway, Buxar- Bhagalpur highway, Bodhgaya- Rajgir-Vaishali- Darbhanga and an additional two-lane bridge over river Ganga in Buxar for Rs 26,000 crores," the finance minister said.&nbsp;</p>

YSRCP worker hacked to death in Andhra Pradesh

<p>In a&nbsp;bizarre yet equally horrific news from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, an 11-year-old girl who was allegedly sold by her aunt to settle a Rs 35,000 ($420) loan has been successfully rescued by the police. The minor's mother had sent her to her aunt's house in April during the summer vacation when the incident transpired.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The minor was&nbsp;rescued by the&nbsp;Tumakuru city police in Hindupur on Wednesday (Jul 10) and brought back to her hometown, according to a report in <em>Hindustan Times</em>. The girl's aunt had sold her niece to the landlord, identified as Sriramulu, for the said amount.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The minor girl was sent to Hindupur to her aunt’s house in April for vacation as she was studying in the fourth standard. The aunt promised her sister that she would take care of the girl but allegedly sold her,” Tumkur district labour officer, K. Tejawati told the publication.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The landlord held the girl hostage and forced her to do work around the house. It was only when the mother visited the town in the last week of June that she discovered that her sister had sold her daughter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The mother, Chaudamma, pleaded to&nbsp;Sriramulu to release her daughter but the landlord refused to do so. Instead, he demanded repayment from the mother stating he had bought the girl.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We have booked Sujatha (30), her husband Shankar (35), and landlord Sriramulu (40) under IPC Sections 137 (kidnapping) and 140 (wrongful confinement) and rescued the child from Sriramulu’s house. We launched an investigation and will take appropriate action soon."</p>

Look at the bathtubs, which cost more than Rs 40 lakh ($47,941) commodes cost more than Rs 10-12 lakh ($11,985-$14,382)… The kind of luxurious furniture that are placed inside… The people are in shock after looking at these visuals," said Pattabhi.</p>

<p>Pattabhi questioned the former chief minister's justification for such lavish spending.</p>

<p>"So Jagan Reddy, you have to answer about this lavish spending. All this job of creating a luxurious interior was given to a woman named Supriya Reddy, who happens to be the wife of his close confidant, an IT advisor, Devreddy Srinath Reddy."</p>

<p>He criticised the Andhra government's financial management, noting that every week, the government has to go to the RBI to raise loans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In such kind of a scenario, how can you spend Rs 500 crore on your palace? You have not spent money on projects like Amravati… These are the projects that are required by the people. Instead of spending money on those projects, you have wasted money on your own palace," he alleged.</p>

<p>Pattabhi assured that an inquiry will be launched into the spending.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In response to the allegation, YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) spokesperson Ravi Chandra Reddy defended the construction, asserting that the building is meant for government purposes.</p>

<p>"We constructed that building (Rushikonda Palace) in the true spirit to rule from Vizag and that buildings should be used for only government purposes. Those buildings belong to the government of Andhra Pradesh and not Jagan Mohan Reddy or YSRCP."</p>

<p>"Those buildings are constructed with beautiful architecture for the government of Andhra Pradesh so it can be used when the President or Prime Minister comes as good buildings are not available in Vizag," he told ANI.</p>

<p>Telugu Desham Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu took oath as the chief minister of south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday (June 12). Naidu is taking the top post for the fourth time&nbsp;after his party clinched a thumping victory in the state's assembly elections, held alongside the general elections.</p>

<p>Naidu was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor S Abdul Nazeer at a ceremony in Vijayawada, attended by&nbsp;Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior leaders of the National Democracy Alliance (NDA), of which TDP is a part.</p>

<p>In the assembly elections, TDP had won&nbsp;135 of 175 seats, while its NDA allies Jana Sena Party (JSP) clinched 21 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won eight.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Naidu took oath at Gannavaram Mandal, Kesarapalli IT Park in Vijayawada, along with 25 ministers which included three leaders from&nbsp; JSP and one from BJP.</p>

<p>JSP chief Pawan Kalyan took oath as deputy chief minister. The son of Naidu, Nara Lokesh, was also part of the Cabinet.</p>

<p>Besides Modi, the oath-taking ceremony was attended by&nbsp;Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Ramdas Athawale, Anupriya Patel and Chirag Paswan; Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, NCP leader Praful Patel and former vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu.<br />

<p>He began his over four-decade-long political career as the local youth president of the Congress during the Emergency imposed by then prime minister Indira Gandhi and won a seat in the Andhra Pradesh state Assembly in 1978.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After he wed the daughter of film superstar NT Rama Rao – who founded the TDP and was chief minister of Andhra Pradesh three times, Naidu abandoned the Congress for TDP and built great influence in the party.</p>

<p>In 1995, Naidu rebelled against his father-in-law over the growing influence of NTR’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi. He was then unanimously chosen as the TDP chief and took over as the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.</p>

<p>Polling is underway for 175 Assembly seats in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh as it undergoes a crucial electoral battle on Monday (May 13) along with Lok Sabha elections. The outcome will determine whether the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), the incumbent regional party in power, will retain its position or be ousted. Concurrently, all 25 Lok Sabha seats of Andhra Pradesh are also witnessing voting in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Election Commission of India (ECI) recorded a voter turnout of &nbsp;63.04% in Phase 4 of the current Lok Sabha elections. Andhra Pradesh recorded voter turnout of 68.20%.</p>

<p>Key contenders in the assembly polls include Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Pulivendula Assembly seat, Janasena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram, TDP supremo&nbsp; and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu from Kuppam.</p>

<p>The ruling YSRCP is contesting in all 175 Assembly seats, while the TDP is fighting on 144 as part of a seat-sharing deal with NDA, with which the regional party joined hands in March and asserted that it will be a "sweep". As part of the BJP-TDP-JSP alliance, BJP is contesting from 10 Assembly seats while Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena is vying for 21 assembly seats.</p>

<p>The YSR Congress supremo was pelted aboard a bus while he was campaigning as part of his 'Memantha Siddham' (we are all ready) bus yatra.</p>

<p>He was greeting people when an unidentified individual hurled stones at him, wounding him on his left eyebrow.</p>

<p>"The stone struck the CM while he was acknowledging the crowds as part of his bus tour at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada," said a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).</p>

<p>CM Jagan was immediately provided first-aid on the bus.</p>

<p>According to the wife, Shravani, Mahesh and her in-laws used to torture her due to the dark skin of the baby girl as they blamed her for her complexion. After Akshaya’s death, Mahesh even asked&nbsp; Shravani to lie about their daughter’s death.</p>

<p>The couple had got married three years ago.</p>

<p>According to media reports, Mahesh quickly buried the body to escape investigation. However, Shravani’s mother grew suspicious and urged the local panchayat to intervene in the matter.</p>

<p>Shravani later filed a complaint with the police, in which she made shocking claims.</p>
