<p>In a Twitter post, Amitabh wrote, "sari duniya ka bojh hum uthate hai" with a picture of a doctor holding the earth as it gets healed. The actor has taken reference from his 1983 film ‘Coolie’ which had the song 'Sari Duniya Ka Bojh'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Through his post, Amitabh Bachchan appreciated the work done by the doctors all over the world and also gave a message to his fans to respect them.</p>

<p>One would think the year 2018 would end with a bang in cinema. The year saw some incredible cinema from smaller producers and gave rise to numerous new stars -who with their sheer talent and good cinema, carved their own space in Bollywood this year. When newere actors, directors are churning out such amazing content, expectations from superstars like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and a banner like Yash Raj Films would naturally double up. They have in the past- individually- delivered some fantastic cinema, so when these three prominent forces of Bollywood team- up for a film, one would expect nothing but the best. But 'Thugs Of Hindostan'- 2018's big Diwali release is utterly disappointing leaving the audience with a migraine in its 2 hours 44 minutes run time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Based on &nbsp;Philip Meadows Taylor's book 'Confession of Thug', the film merges a revenge saga with the fight for freedom from the British in late 18th century India. &nbsp;After the British murder her parents, a young Zafira(Fatima Sana Shaikh) is raised by her father's most trusted aid Khudabaksh Azaad( Big B). Zafira is a princess of sorts of a kingdom whose king has been murdered along with his kin by the British who now rule the kingdom. Zafira, since then has been on the run and trained by a thug/ pirate Khudabaksh who, with his army, often plunders, loots British ships and convoys ever so often. Naturally, Zahira, as Azaad's chief commander has been trained well in archery and sword fighting. Together as a team, they are unbeatable and a pain for the British. The Brits then hire Firangi (Aamir Khan channelising his inner Jack Sparrow in this one) to get them Azaad and his army. Firangi is a con man of sorts, who just works for money and doesn't really belong to any camp. Firangi does manage to infiltrate Azaad's den and even manages to win his trust even though Zafira isn't too convinced about the new member in their band.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now a film on pirates and their adventure ideally should be a thrilling ride. There is so much to look forward to such films. But director Vijay Krishna Acharya's film is far from it. A long drawn saga of seeking revenge with over the top background music, silly dialogues and a predictable story makes 'Thugs of Hindostan' an overbearing, torturous ride.<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Considering the fact that this is perhaps YRF's most expensive film till date, it is alarming to see so much money getting wasted on a film that struggles to stay afloat. It is long, the VFX is amateur, stunts are unrealistic(no one jumps, everyone does backflips instead) &nbsp;and the songs are forgettable. There is Katrina Kaif - in a role that seems so unnecessary- dancing in the most obscure outfits to the most impractical steps choreographed by none other than Prabhudeva. She wears a pair of silver shorts in one song, and a thigh-high slit ghagra in another- fashion trends that never existed in the 18th century - and does the twist in one song.&nbsp;<br />
Basically, her character Suraiya is ahead of her times considering her dance steps and costumes became a rage several hundred years later.&nbsp;</p>

One would think the year 2018 would end with a bang in cinema. The year saw some incredible cinema from smaller producers and gave rise to numerous new stars -who with their sheer talent and good cinema, carved their own space in Bollywood this year.

When newere actors, directors are churning out such amazing content, expectations from superstars like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and a banner like Yash Raj Films would naturally double up. They have in the past- individually- delivered some fantastic cinema, so when these three prominent forces of Bollywood team- up for a film, one would expect nothing but the best. But 'Thugs Of Hindostan'- 2018's big Diwali release is utterly disappointing leaving the audience with a migraine in its 2 hours 44 minutes run time. Based on Philip Meadows Taylor's book 'Confession of Thug', the film merges a revenge saga with the fight for freedom from the British in late 18th century India. After the British murder her parents, a young Zafira(Fatima Sana Shaikh) is raised by her father's most trusted aid Khudabaksh Azaad( Big B). Zafira is a princess of sorts of a kingdom whose king has been murdered along with his kin by the British who now rule the kingdom. Zafira, since then has been on the run and trained by a thug/ pirate Khudabaksh who, with his army, often plunders, loots British ships and convoys ever so often. Naturally, Zahira, as Azaad's chief commander has been trained well in archery and sword fighting. Together as a team, they are unbeatable and a pain for the British. The Brits then hire Firangi (Aamir Khan channelising his inner Jack Sparrow in this one) to get them Azaad and his army. Firangi is a con man of sorts, who just works for money and doesn't really belong to any camp. Firangi does manage to infiltrate Azaad's den and even manages to win his trust even though Zafira isn't too convinced about the new member in their band. Now a film on pirates and their adventure ideally should be a thrilling ride. There is so much to look forward to such films. But director Vijay Krishna Acharya's film is far from it. A long drawn saga of seeking revenge with over the top background music, silly dialogues and a predictable story makes 'Thugs of Hindostan' an overbearing, torturous ride. Considering the fact that this is perhaps YRF's most expensive film till date, it is alarming to see so much money getting wasted on a film that struggles to stay afloat. It is long, the VFX is amateur, stunts are unrealistic(no one jumps, everyone does backflips instead) and the songs are forgettable. There is Katrina Kaif - in a role that seems so unnecessary- dancing in the most obscure outfits to the most impractical steps choreographed by none other than Prabhudeva. She wears a pair of silver shorts in one song, and a thigh-high slit ghagra in another- fashion trends that never existed in the 18th century - and does the twist in one song. Basically, her character Suraiya is ahead of her times considering her dance steps and costumes became a rage several hundred years later. <p>Sujoy Ghosh's best work till date, 'Kahaani' till date serves as a textbook example of how a thriller should be. It should ideally keep the viewers hooked till the end and the ultimate ending should rattle you a bit- something that the viewers would not be able to guess. His latest, 'Badla' may not tick all boxes of a perfect whodunnit, but nevertheless keeps you engaged till the end.</p>

<p>The plot is pretty simple. Young business tycoon Naina Sethi finds herself locked in a hotel room with a dead body of her lover Arjun lying in the bathroom. The police naturally think she has murdered him and she needs a good lawyer to get her out of the mess. She meets advocate Badal Gupta, an expert in his field who wants Naina to tell him the truth in order to save her. Over a course of two hours, Badal and Naina sit across each other at the former's dining room as she narrates how she was having affair on the sly and how she is innocent. But who has then killed Arjun? Is Naina telling the truth and is there more to the story than what she is saying?</p>

<p>An official adaptation of the Spanish classic&nbsp; 'The Invisible Guest', the film's narrative keeps going back and forth. Most of the plot is narrated in flashback and Ghosh, who also serves as the screenplay writer of the film, keeps the audience hooked with numerous plot twists. A lot of things are not what they seem to appear and the constant verbal exchange between Bachchan and Pannu keeps one engaged.</p>

<p>The two actors deliver formidable performances. Each matching the other with sharpness and wit. Bachchan, of course, swells in his part as always and its a delight to watch him play the sharp advocate who doesn't want to miss the minutest details even. Pannu, who has shared the screen space with Big B in 'Pink' before, delivers a credible performance for the greater p[art of the film. I wish though she had shown more sharpness- a quality that's attributed to her character Naina. Naina is somewhat cold and a bit self-centered- qualities that don't come out prominently in Pannu's performance too clearly. The other actor who shines immensely in her role is Amrita Singh who returns to screen nearly after two years. Singh infuses just the right amount of charm and vulnerability to her character and its a delight to watch her perform. She should definitely be doing more films!</p>

<p>The cat-and-mouse chase though wears off a bit by the end. If you like whodunnits and have watched innumerable suspense thrillers in your life, you may be able to predict the end, as I did.</p>

<p>The film is shot mostly in shades of grey by cinematographer Avik Mukhopadhyay which sets the tone of the narrative well.</p>

<p>Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Chehre’ has a new release date. The makers of the film shifted the date of the much-awaited mystery-thriller to July 17, 2020 as they wanted to make way for another film starring Bachchan.</p>

<p>It was earlier scheduled for a release in April but that was clashing with Amitabh Bachchan’s next film ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ that is made by Shoojit Sircar and is produced by Ronnie Lahiri.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anand Pandit, producer of the film recently announced, "Yes we have moved Chehre to 17th July, upon a special request from the makers of Gulabo Sitabo. We have always had a fantastic association with Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri, and seeing as it was mutually beneficial to not only all of us to give a good release window to these exciting movies, but also to Mr Bachchan's fans, we decided to now release Chehre on 17th July!"</p>

<p>Bollywood superstar and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday was conferred the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood-superstar-amitabh-bachchan-receives-dadasaheb-phalke-award-270862">Dadasaheb Phalke Award</a> by President Ram Nath Kovind.</p>

<p>After accepting the award, Bachchan said that when his name was announced for the prestigious award, he thought that it was time for him to sit at home but he feels that he isn't done just yet and that some more work is left for him to complete.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"When my name was announced for the award, there rose a doubt in my heart. I thought, is this a sign indicating that I have done enough and that it is time for me to sit at home and rest? There's still work left which I have to complete," Bachchan said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last seen onscreen in '<em>Badla</em>', Bachchan is a recipient of four National Film Awards for his roles in movies like '<em>Agneepath</em>', '<em>Black</em>', '<em>Paa</em>' and '<em>Piku</em>'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He made his acting debut in 1969 with `<em>Saat Hindustani.</em>`</p>

<p>Bachchan was honoured with Padma Vibhushan - the second-highest civilian honour of the country - in 2015.&nbsp;</p>
