<p>Speaking on her appointment as Australia’s all-format captain, Healy said she feels honoured and grateful for the opportunity. Healy added she enjoys the support she received from the dressing room in the past couple of years.</p>

<p>"I am honoured to accept the role of captain and am grateful for the opportunity to lead our team. I've really enjoyed the support of the players over the past few months and their encouragement to continue to be who I am and lead the group like I normally would from within,"&nbsp;Healy said.</p>

<p>As per reports, their appointments were ratified at a Cricket Australia board meeting on Friday.</p>

<p>Australia captain Meg Lanning has pulled out of the Women's Ashes tour in England that begins next month due to medical reasons, with Alyssa Healy set to lead the team instead, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Saturday.</p>

<p>CA said Lanning was asked to stay at home to manage the issue and gave no time frame on her return. It marks the second time the 31-year-old has missed the Ashes after a shoulder injury ruled her out of the 2017-18 series at home. Lanning had also taken an indefinite break from the game for personal reasons in August before returning to the squad and leading Australia to the T20 World Cup title in South Africa earlier this year.</p>

<p>"It's an unfortunate setback for Meg and she's obviously disappointed to have been ruled out of the Ashes," Shawn Flegler, CA's Head of Performance for women's cricket, said. "It's a significant series for the team and she'll be missed, but she understands the need to put her health first.</p>

<p>Australia, who are looking to retain the Ashes, take on England in a test match from June 22-26 at Trent Bridge before playing three Twenty20 matches and three one-day internationals, wrapping up the tour on July 18.</p>

I watch a lot of the men's cricket and I look at someone like Rohit Sharma who is one of the most devastating white-ball batters in the world and yet he's a really successful opener in Test cricket," Healy said at a Fox Cricket launch event as reported by ESPNcricinfo.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"So for me, I said look at somebody like him and think about how he translates those skills across all the formats, could I potentially replicate that somehow," she added.</p>

<p>Australia will be locking horns against India in a multi-format series, comprising three ODIs, one-off day-night Test and three T20Is. The first ODI will be played on September 21.&nbsp;</p>

<p>About the much-awaited series aginst India, Healy said: "Sometimes a bit of the unknown and the unpredictable nature of India makes them incredibly dangerous."</p>

<p>Some of Australia's top women's cricketers Monday blasted a decision by India to schedule its T20 Challenge during the Big Bash League as a "huge shame" and "sad for the game".</p>

<p>Indian cricket bosses on Sunday said the women's T20 Challenge will take place in the United Arab Emirates, comprising three teams with four matches during the playoff week of the cash-rich and globally popular men's <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL)</a>.</p>

<p>That would see it clash with the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), widely considered the top women's Twenty20 tournament, which is due to be held between October 17 and November 29.</p>

<p>It would effectively mean Indian players will not be available for the WBBL while overseas stars face having to pick between the competitions.</p>

<p>"So during the WBBL... cool," Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy tweeted sarcastically.</p>

<p>"So the Indian players who've already signed wbbl contracts will do what? And all the international marquee players that will be in aus for wbbl? Good luck with it..."</p>

<p>Fellow Australian Jess Jonassen, the world's top-ranked one-day bowler, was equally bemused, saying "I have no words for this", while batting stalwart Rachael Haynes said "If true, it's a shame".</p>

<p>"While the game continues to grow, premier domestic competitions do not need to compete against each other," Haynes added.&nbsp;</p>
