<h3>PSG hunt for a place in last eight</h3>

PSG will have a big task in their hands as they make their way to the Allianz Arena to face the record Bundesliga champions for a place in the quarterfinal. The French side lost the first leg 0-1 at home and will have to at least score once to overcome the deposit. However, the biggest drawback for them will be the absence of Neymar and Achraf Hakimi. While the Brazilian is to miss the rest of the season with an injury, Hakimi has been involved in a rape case and is undergoing a trial.

Bayern on the flip side are having some battle both domestically and in Europe as they look to consolidate their position in the second leg. Currently sitting top of the pile in the Bundesliga on goal difference, they will be aware of the fact that the Champions League tie is far from over. A draw will see them book their berth in the last eight while even a defeat could see them make the next stage.

<h3>Tottenham host AC Milan</h3>

In the other clash of the night, Spurs will play host to AC Milan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having trailed 0-1 from the first leg. Manager Antonio Conte is expected to be back for the return leg in London having been away from the side due to health issues. Both the teams lost their weekend matches as Spurs were dismantled 0-1 by Wolves while Milan lost 1-2 against Fiorentina.

A win by a two-goal margin will see the London side make the final eight while a draw should be good enough for the Italian side to book their passage in the latter stage.

AC Milan reached the Champions League knock-out stage for the first time in nine years on Wednesday with a 4-0 victory over Salzburg, while RB Leipzig also qualified by thrashing Shakhtar Donetsk. Paris Saint-Germain will be the team group winners want to avoid in Monday's last-16 draw after missing out on top spot in Group H despite a 2-1 win at Juventus, as Benfica hammered Maccabi Haifa 6-1 to snatch a first place on total away goals.

Seven-time European champions Milan knew a point would be enough to send them into the last 16 for the first time since the 2013-14 season after a group-stage exit last term. "These kinds of nights is what we wish for," Milan coach Stefano Pioli told Sky Sport. "We wanted to show we improved compared to last season in the Champions League. We're ambitious now, so let's see what happens next."

Pioli's side eased any nerves at the San Siro inside 14 minutes as Olivier Giroud headed home. Milan's return to the knockouts was all but confirmed less than a minute after half-time when Giroud headed the ball across goal for Rade Krunic to nod past Philipp Kohn in the Salzburg goal. Giroud added his second before the hour mark, allowing the home fans the opportunity to celebrate for the remainder of the match and Junior Messias added further gloss to the scoreline in added time.

Milan qualified from Group E in second place behind Chelsea, who came from behind to beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 at Stamford Bridge with goals from Raheem Sterling and debutant Denis Zakaria. Leipzig also only needed to avoid defeat to go through against Ukrainians Shakhtar in Warsaw. Shakhtar, playing their home matches in Poland and having seen most of their foreign players leave due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, had stunned Leipzig 4-1 in their Group F opener.

But the Bundesliga side were too strong after Christopher Nkunku's early strike left Shakhtar with a mountain to climb. Andre Silva and Dominik Szoboszlai netted in the second period and Dani Olmo's shot was deflected into his own net by Valeriy Bondar to wrap up a 4-0 win. "I'm really proud of the team. We didn't start well in this Champions League campaign, but we put in a solid performance today and are really happy to be through," Leipzig forward Emil Forsberg told DAZN.

Holders Real Madrid secured first place in the group by hammering Scottish champions Celtic 5-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Luka Modric and Rodrygo both scored penalties awarded for handball in the opening stages, before Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved Josip Juranovic's spot-kick. Second-half goals from Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde completed the rout despite Jota's late consolation for Celtic who finished bottom. Karim Benzema also made his return from injury as a substitute to complete a good night for Carlo Ancelotti's men.

- Benfica snatch first from PSG -

PSG lost top spot in Group H despite Nuno Mendes' 69th-minute winner in Turin as Benfica scored five goals in the second half at Maccabi. Kylian Mbappe's brilliant individual effort put PSG in front, before Leonardo Bonucci dragged the already-eliminated Juventus level. Mendes scored only a minute after coming off the bench, but late drama in Israel saw PSG slip to second. Possible last-16 opponents for the Qatari-owned club include 14-time champions Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and in-form Napoli.

"It doesn't matter, we qualified... We'll watch the draw and we'll play to win," Mbappe told RMC Sport. Three goals in 14 minutes in the second half gave Benfica hope of matching PSG's goal difference and pipping them on away goals. It appeared as though the Portuguese would come up two short, but Henrique Araujo scored in the 88th minute and Joao Mario struck in injury time to complete the job. "As the game progressed, we saw that it was within our reach," Goncalo Ramos, who scored Benfica's third goal, told Eleven Sports.

Juventus will drop into the Europa League after finishing third despite losing five of their six group matches. Manchester City came from behind to round off their Group G campaign with a 3-1 win over Sevilla at the Etihad. Rafa Mir gave the Spaniards the lead, but 17-year-old full-back Rico Lewis fired City level. Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez sealed all three points for Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions, who were still without the injured Erling Haaland. Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Copenhagen.

AC Milan enter Champions League last-16 after nine years, PSG concede top spot

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has made his desire to play at a Champions League-bound club extremely apparent. He was offered a brief respite after AC Milan expressed interest in the Portuguese star to replace their star-forward Rafael Leao, who was being eyed by Premier League giants Chelsea.

However, it seems like Ronaldo will have to make do with domestic action as the transfer offer for Leao, who he was expected to replace, has been rejected by Milan. The Rossoneri were previously eyeing the 37-year-old in case they were to lose his compatriot. However, those plans have seemingly fallen through as The Blues faltered in their pursuit of one of the hottest Serie A talents.&nbsp;

However, with the deal currently dead in the water, Chelsea will have to rely on the signings that they have brought on after parting ways with over&nbsp;£250 million on players like Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and more.

'Support peace in Ukraine'- Former Chelsea star and Ballon d'Or winner calls for int'l backing in war effort

AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has broken his silence after being held at gunpoint by the Italian police while driving on the streets of Milan earlier this month. In what was a case of mistaken identity, Bakayoko's car was stopped in downtown Milan and he was asked to get out of the vehicle before being searched by a group of police officers.

He was pulled out of his car at gunpoint while two officers stood pointing guns towards his vehicle with a couple of his friends inside. Bakayoko was mistaken for a shooting suspect as a shooting incident had taken place in the area hours before, as per the Milan Police and Bakyoko's appearance matched that of the description of the suspect with them.

A video of the incident which took place on July 3 went viral on social media earlier this week after being shared by an Italian reporter on Twitter. In the video, the AC Milan midfielder can be seen standing with his hands up as a police officer checks his pockets and places his stuff on top of a patrol car.

It was only after another police officer informed the one conducting the check on Bakayoko that he was a footballer, who played for the local club AC Milan that the French midfielder was let go of as the matter de-escalated. Bakayoko has now opened up on the incident for the first time and slammed the Milan Police for the manner in which he was held at gunpoint.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who is on a two-year loan to AC Milan from English Premier League club Chelsea, said he has no issues with the error made by the police officers but has a problem with the manner and the methodology used by them. Bakayoko said had he not kept his cool, the consequences could have been worse.

“The error is human, I have no problem with it, on the other hand, I have a problem with the manner and methodology that were used," Bakayoko said in a video posted on his Instagram account.
&nbsp;
“The consequences could have been so much more serious if I had not kept my cool," he said. “What would have happened if I hadn’t had the chance to do the job I do and be recognised in time? What would have been the aftermath of all this," he added.

Bakyoko was part of AC Milan's Serie A-winning squad last season but didn't have a great season on the personal front. He is likely to leave Milan this summer and get a permanent move away from Chelsea.&nbsp;

The French midfielder, who has now lived in Milan for a year, said the footage shown in the video that has surfaced online is the 'calmest' part of his interaction with the police officers and that he feared for his life during the incident.

“You have to know that I found myself with the gun a meter away from me… They clearly put our lives in danger," said Bakayoko.

Bakayoko said had he not kept his cool, the consequences could have been worse. “The error is human, I have no problem with it, on the other hand, I have a problem with the manner and methodology that were used," Bakayoko said in a video posted on his Instagram account. “The consequences could have been so much more serious if I had not kept my cool," he said. “What would have happened if I hadn’t had the chance to do the job I do and be recognised in time? What would have been the aftermath of all this," he added. Bakyoko was part of AC Milan's Serie A-winning squad last season but didn't have a great season on the personal front. In the football fraternity, the comparisons between Portugal captain and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina's skipper and Paris Saint Germain (PSG)'s&nbsp;star Lionel Messi keep&nbsp;happening from time to time.&nbsp;

The debate regarding the better footballer between the two superstars also seems to be never-ending. Be it statistics, fitness or overall skills, there's not much seperating the duo. Hence, many remain perpelxed when asked to pick one between Ronaldo and Messi. However, as far as AC Milan legend Marco van Basten is concerned, he feels there is a clear winner among the duo.

"Cristiano is a great player, but those who say he is better than Messi know nothing about football, or they are saying it in bad faith," the 57-year-old said in an interview with&nbsp;Corriere dello Sport. "Messi is one of a kind. Impossible to imitate and impossible to repeat. A player like him comes along every 50 or 100 years. As a kid, he fell into the football genius pot," he opined.

U.S. investment firm RedBird Capital Partners has agreed a 1.2 billion euro ($1.3 billion) deal to buy Italian soccer champions AC Milan and is aiming to challenge the elite of the European game again.

US investmet firm RedBird buys Italian football club AC Milan in $1.3 billion deal

Goals from Rafael Leao and Junior Messias earned AC Milan a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Genoa on Friday, with Stefano Pioli`s side returning to the top of Serie A. Inter Milan had briefly climbed to the Serie A summit after their 3-1 success at Spezia earlier on Friday, putting pressure on their great rivals to respond as Milan look to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2011.

Without a goal in their previous two league games, Milan did not take long to get on the score sheet in the San Siro, with Pierre Kalulu picking out the perfect cross for Leao to volley home in the 11th minute.

But they again fell flat in the second half, struggling to find that killer second goal, with Genoa causing problems down the other end. Milan kept coming and finally made one count as Brazilian midfielder Messias hammered home three minutes from time to seal the win.

After securing their first win in three league matches, Milan moved onto 71 points from 33 matches, two clear of Inter who have a game in hand. Genoa remain 19th on 22 points, three points from the safety zone.

"The tension is felt, the pressure rises," Pioli told DAZN. "I told the guys that last year there was tension because we didn`t know whether we could finish in the top four.

"Now the pressure is there but it must lead to positive energies because we are fighting for a goal (the title) that when we started working together we could not have imagined.

"For many of us it is the first time fighting for the Scudetto but we want to be winning again and this experience will prove useful in the future as well."

Goals had been hard to come by of late for Milan. Prior to successive 0-0 draws in their last two matches, Pioli`s side had only managed four strikes in their previous five games in all competitions.

Leao is one of several out-of-form strikers, but showed no lack of confidence when he fired his first goal since the end of February into the net.

The hosts should have had another later in the first half, but Belgian midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers missed his kick with the goal at his mercy.

Veteran striker Olivier Giroud saw one acrobatic second-half effort flash wide, but otherwise that final pass again was eluding Milan until the dying moments.

Substitute Ante Rebic turned provider for Messias, who converted from the rebound after his initial effort had been saved.

Defensively it was another successful night for Milan. Pioli is now only the third manager in the club`s history to keep a clean sheet in at least six games in a row in a single Serie A season.

AC Milan return to top of Serie A with battling victory over Genoa

Inter Milan took a big step toward defending its Serie A title without even playing on Sunday. Serie A leader AC Milan was again let down by its poor finishing in a 0-0 draw at Torino, while Napoli lost 3-2 at home to Fiorentina.

Milan remained top of the Italian league but just two points ahead of Inter, which beat Hellas Verona 2-0 on Saturday and has played a match less than its title rivals. Napoli was also two points behind Milan. It was a second straight 0-0 draw for Milan. The Rossoneri have only scored four goals in their last seven matches in all competitions, from more than 100 attempts.

Milan's hopes of finding its scoring boots diminished even before kickoff as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ante Rebic, Ismail&nbsp;Bennacer and Samu Castillejo were unable to make the trip through injury.

Coach Stefano Pioli will hope to have them back for next week's match against Genoa. In Turin, Milan was again let down by some poor finishing. It would have been worse for the Rossoneri but for several fantastic saves from goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Napoli was looking to move top of the league, temporarily at least, but it was Fiorentina that took a surprise lead in the 29th minute. A cross from Alfred Duncan was not cleared and Nicolas Gonzalez controlled the ball on his chest before firing into the top corner.

Dries Mertens was brought on in the 56th and levelled with practically his first touch two minutes later, sweeping the ball into the bottom left corner after Victor Osimhen had raced down the left and pulled back from the byline. Jonathan Ikon&nbsp;took even less time to have an impact, scoring his debut Serie A goal barely a minute after coming off the bench.

Napoli thought it had equalized again but Hirving Lozano was called offside and instead it was Fiorentina that extended its advantage in the 72nd as Arthur Cabral sprinted down the left and cut inside past Stanislav Lobotka before curling into the far corner.

Osimhen set up a frantic finale when he pulled one back six minutes from time, chesting the ball down between two defenders and then shooting powerfully into the top corner.

Ciro Immobile netted a hat trick as Lazio won 4-1 at relegation-threatened Genoa to boost its chances of qualifying for Europe. Adam Marusic scored Lazio's opener in the 31st and Immobile doubled the side's lead on the stroke of halftime before adding two more after the break.

Genoa briefly reduced the deficit with a stroke of luck as a pass ricocheted off Patric and the underside of the bar for an own-goal from the Lazio defender.

Lazio was sixth, two points below its capital rival Roma which beat bottom club Salernitana 2-1. Jos? Mourinho's team struggled more than expected and needed two late goals to snatch all three points.

Fiorentina is two points behind Lazio and two points above Atalanta, which lost 2-1 at Sassuolo following a double from Hamed Traore. Genoa remained three points from safety. It is level on points with Venezia, which lost 2-1 at home to Udinese.&nbsp;

AC Milan owners Elliott Management have joined the Nick Candy-led Blue Football consortium as a "minor investor" in their bid to buy Premier League club Chelsea, sources close to the deal told Reuters.

Chelsea were initially put up for sale by owner Roman Abramovich following Russia's invasion of Ukraine before sanctions were imposed on the oligarch by the British government, effectively giving it control of the club.

Bidders were expecting to hear back from U.S. bank Raine Group, who are overseeing the sale in conjunction with Chelsea, as to whether they had made a narrowed shortlist earlier this week, but sources said bid revisions have slowed the process.

British property developer Candy's bid was increased on Monday after being joined by "another large Korean financial institution", they said in a statement, with sources adding the consortium has grown further on Thursday.

Elliott Management, an American hedgefund business, have injected a "multi-million pound sum" into the bid, the sources told Reuters.

Elliott became Milan owners in 2018 and have since helped the Italian giants become much more competitive in Serie A. They top the standings and are chasing their first league title in 11 years.

Representatives from Elliott did not immediately respond to Reuters'&nbsp;requests for comment.

Candy had initially been joined in his consortium by South Korean companies Hana Financial Group and C&amp;P Sports Limited before the new investors got on board.

Others who have made their offers public include Chicago Cubs owners the Ricketts family as well as the pairing of former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and World Athletics President Sebastian Coe.

London-based global investment firm Centricus also said they had offered to buy Chelsea, a move driven by co-founder Nizar Al-Bassam and CEO Garth Ritchie, who are said to be season-ticket holders.

Representatives from Elliott did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. London-based global investment firm Centricus also said they had offered to buy Chelsea, a move driven by co-founder Nizar Al-Bassam and CEO Garth Ritchie, who are said to be season-ticket holders.

Italy's Justice Ministry has issued an international arrest warrant for former AC Milan and Brazil striker Robinho after the country's top court confirmed his conviction for rape, a ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

The ministry has asked the global police agency Interpol to enact the warrant.

Robinho, whose full name is Robson de Souza, lives in Brazil. The South American country does not extradite its nationals, which means Robinho would only face arrest if he travelled abroad.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he almost joined Napoli before returning to AC Milan in 2019, as he wanted to emulate the feat of Argentina great Diego Maradona by winning Serie A with the Naples club.

The 40-year-old Swedish striker joined Milan for a second time in December 2019 after leaving LA Galaxy.

However, the Swede was initially tempted by the prospect of guiding Napoli to their first Scudetto since the Maradona-inspired wins of 1987 and 1990.

"Watching a documentary about him, I decided to join Napoli and do what Diego did: win the league," Ibrahimovic told Corriere della Sera on Wednesday.

"I was tired of America and thinking of retiring. But (my agent) Mino (Raiola) said: 'You're crazy, you should go back to Italy.'

"It was all done with Napoli, but then (Napoli owner Aurelio) De Laurentiis fired (coach Carlo) Ancelotti. I asked Mino: 'Which team is in the worst shape, that I can change?'

"He replied: 'Yesterday Milan lost 5-0 to Atalanta'. So I decided."

Ibrahimovic also said his famous overhead kick for Sweden against England in 2012 was the goal that made him happiest as "the English have always undervalued me".

He also explained his spat with former Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku during a Milan derby in January.

The pair, former Manchester United team mates, butted heads and both were fined for unsportsmanlike conduct after exchanging insults.

Ibrahimovic said Lukaku has a "big ego" and was the first to insult him personally.

"I hit him in his weak spot... He lost control," said the Swede.

"I have a score to settle with him, I hope to face him soon. These are things that must be resolved on the pitch. I do not hate anyone, let alone Lukaku."

AS Roma say they are taking a zero tolerance attitude towards racism after their fans racially abused AC Milan players during a Serie A game, resulting in the club being handed a suspended closure of a section of the Stadio Olimpico.

Lega Serie A issued a statement on Tuesday saying that discriminatory and racist chants were aimed at Milan players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie during Sunday’s 2-1 victory for the Rossoneri in Rome.

The Curva Sud section, home to the club’s hard-line ‘Ultras’ groups, was guilty of hosting those targeting the duo with abuse, and the league issued a one-year suspended sentence of closing the stand for one game.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said his side got carried away by their own football after a topsy-turvy 3-2 victory over AC Milan in their opening Champions League Group B clash on Wednesday.

With fans inside Anfield for a Champions League match for the first time in 18 months, Liverpool began in electrifying fashion and threatened to run riot after Fikayo Tomori`s own goal handed them a ninth-minute lead.

Liverpool had 13 goal attempts in the opening 15 minutes but incredibly found themselves trailing at halftime as Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz struck for Milan shortly before halftime.

But goals by Mohamed Salah, who missed a first-half penalty, and Jordan Henderson`s 69th-minute piledriver secured an important three points in a daunting group that also includes Porto and Atletico Madrid, who drew 0-0.

"We started incredibly well. We played a super, super game. An intense game but football wise as well," Klopp said of Liverpool`s barnstorming start to the clash of the European heavyweights -- only their third ever meeting.

"We got punished in the last few minutes of the first half but it started earlier. We got carried away by our own football. We didn`t keep it simple anymore, offensively and defensively we were not organised anymore.

"But it did not feel like we cannot come back. It was clear that we had to immediately get back to how we started and then we scored wonderful goals. It is deserved but we had 10 minutes where Milan nearly changed the whole tie."

After the empty stadiums for last season`s Champions League campaign, Klopp revelled in a return to the special atmosphere created by the Kop on European nights at Anfield -- punching the air repeatedly after the final whistle.

Asked if he had enjoyed it, Klopp said: "Yeah, apart from those 10 minutes! It`s the football I want to see to be honest, in most of the moments."

For seven-time champions Milan it was a frantic return to the competition after a seven-year absence and while their inexperienced team were in danger of being overwhelmed early on, coach Stefano Pioli took plenty of positives.

"Liverpool played a great game especially in the first 25 minutes. Then we overturned it, the regret is the two goals conceded in the second half, also due to our mistakes," he said.

"It was a game that will make us grow a lot in terms of intensity and quality. We go home with the awareness that the team can grow and that the Champions League level is really high, we will have to try even harder."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his first AC Milan appearance for four months against Lazio in Serie A on Sunday, coach Stefano Pioli said.

Ibrahimovic, who has not featured for the Italian side since May due to a knee injury, is set to play at San Siro as the Rossoneri begin a crucial week at home and abroad.

"Ibra knows that four months away from the pitch is a long time," Pioli told a news conference on Saturday.

"He has worked day and night to recover from this injury. Now he is well, but nobody at Milan can play all seven matches that we have coming up in the next three weeks.

"He is not at his best yet, which obviously must be managed. I hope he can get the continuity that he lacked last season. Tomorrow Zlatan can a part to get into better shape and be ready for the next matches.”

Pioli said the clash with Roman club comes too soon for Olivier Giroud, who recovered from COVID-19 on Friday, but Franck Kessie is available following injury.

The Ivorian has been the subject of transfer speculation recently as talks drag on over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

"It is a situation that regards the club and the player’s agent, I only talk about football with Franck. I see him positive, calm and focused," Pioli said.

Asked about a potentially frosty reception from the fans, Pioli added: "Our fans are too intelligent to not put Milan above everything else."

Milan and Lazio have both won their two matches this season and the visit of the Roman club begins a big week for Pioli’s side, who travel to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday before hosting Juventus next Sunday.

"On paper, it will be a match between two quality sides who are always looking to play an attacking game," Pioli said.

"It will be a spectacular game, Lazio are very strong and have started well.

"It is difficult to compare the two teams (Lazio and Liverpool), Lazio play with a true centre-forward in Ciro Immobile, while Liverpool have Roberto Firmino up front.

Juventus qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season on Sunday with a 4-1 win at Bologna and were joined by AC Milan who beat Atalanta 2-0.

Napoli had to settle for a Europa League spot, finishing fifth, one point behind Juventus, after a 1-1 draw at home against Hellas Verona.

A pair of Franck Kessie penalities at the end of either half ensured AC Milan finished the season second -- 12 points behind city rivals Inter Milan -- and return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2013-2014 season.

"We deserved the Champions League as well as second place," said Milan coach Stefano Pioli whose side had missed the chance to seal their berth last weekend against Cagliari.

"We went through the whole championship at the top, unfortunately we had thrown away the match point last Sunday.

"I'm really excited, happy, I have to thank the club because they made us work in a spectacular way."

Atalanta had already ensured a third consecutive season of Champions League football but missed out on a first second-place Serie A finish days after losing out in the Coppa Italia final to Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo was left on the bench by Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo who opted for an attacking line-up of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata flanked by Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski.

"It was a shared choice, Ronaldo was tired after the fatigue on Wednesday," said Pirlo.&nbsp;

"He made himself available to the team but I chose to have another player named Morata play, who is not the latest arrival. I have a quality team, with many choices available."

A Morata brace along with goals from Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot prevented Juventus missing out on the elite European competition for the first time since 2012.

In Naples, Amir Rrahmani scored for Napoli after an hour against his former club, which would have been enough to secure a berth at the top table but Davide Faraoni pulled one back for the visitors nine minutes.

Gennaro Gattuso's side were denied a return to elite European action after also missing out last season.

In a tense game in Bergamo, Milan held on despite playing without injured star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Kessie proved solid in front of goal taking the first penalty three minutes before the break and the second deep into injury time.

Lazio join Napoli in the Europa League despite a 2-0 loss at Sassuolo with Roma finishing seventh after coming from two goals down to hold Spezia 2-2.

In Bologna, Italy forward Chiesa, who scored the Coppa Italia winner midweek, finishing off a Kulusevski cross into the box from close range after six minutes for his 15th goal in all competitions this season.

Dybala set up Morata to nod in the second before the half-hour mark with Rabiot adding a third before the break at the Stadio Dall'Ara.

Morata got the second just after the interval latching onto a ball Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny blasted up the pitch.

The Spaniard controlled the ball and raced forward to finish off.

Riccardo Orsolini pulled a goal back for Bologna past Juve's third-choice goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio who got his first outing this season coming on for Szczesny for the final quarter of an hour.

Earlier Inter Milan were presented with their first trophy in 11 years after a 5-1 win over Udinese in their final game in the San Siro.

Antonio Conte's side had sealed their 19th 'Scudetto' with four games to spare and were able to play their final game of the season with 1,000 celebrating supporters.

Outside more than 4,000 had gathered from early in the morning with fireworks and flares, greeting the team bus with chants and cheers.

Ashley Young struck after eight minutes with Christian Eriksen, Lautaro Martinez, Ivan Perisic and Romelu Lukaku also all on target.

Cristiano Ronaldo was left on the bench by Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo who opted for an attacking line-up of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata flanked by Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski. "It was a shared choice, Ronaldo was tired after the fatigue on Wednesday," said Pirlo. "He made himself available to the team but I chose to have another player named Morata play, who is not the latest arrival. I have a quality team, with many choices available." A Morata brace along with goals from Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot prevented Juventus missing out on the elite European competition for the first time since 2012.

Super League left for dead as Atletico Madrid, Inter and AC Milan pull out

Juventus' hopes of winning a 10th consecutive Serie A title took another blow on Sunday with a 1-0 home loss to lowly Benevento as AC Milan closed the gap on leaders Inter Milan with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Fiorentina.

Adolfo Gaich scored the only goal in the 69th minute at Juve's Allianz Stadium following a bad pass across his own penalty area by midfielder Arthur.

Andrea Pirlo's side stay third, 10 points behind Inter whose match against Sassuolo was postponed because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the league leaders.

Second-placed Milan are four points ahead of the reigning champions after they recovered from their Europa League exit to Manchester United by cutting the deficit to Inter to six points with a 3-2 win over Fiorentina.

For Juve, who have 11 games left to play this season, it was another blow after being dumped out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage by Porto earlier this month.

"We performed poorly, in every aspect," said Pirlo.&nbsp;

"We have to continue to believe in the title. The objective does not change, it's the mindset which must."

Serie A top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, who has netted 23 times in the league this season, drew a blank in Turin a week after reaching 770 goals to beat Pele's all-time mark of 767, with Benevento goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo pulling off a string of fine saves.

<h2>- Zlatan hails 'important' win -</h2>

Benevento broke the deadlock following Arthur's horrendous pass across the face of goal towards Danilo, which allowed Gaich to pounce and score his second goal in five games since arriving on loan from CSKA Moscow.

Montipo denied Ronaldo twice late on as Juve pushed for a leveller, first from close range with 10 minutes to go and again in the final minute, with Danilo sending the subsequent rebound over the bar.

Benevento now sit seven points away from the drop zone in 16th.

In Florence, Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to the starting line-up for Milan for the first time in over three weeks and scored after nine minutes following Simon Kjaer's ball over the top.

But Milan needed Brahim Diaz's 57th-minute strike and a Hakan Calhanoglu winner with quarter of an hour to go to snatch victory.

A curling Erick Pulgar free-kick had pulled Fiorentina level with Franck Ribery then putting the hosts ahead six minutes after the break.

"It was very important to win like this after the defeat against Manchester United," said Ibrahimovic, who at 39 became the oldest player to score 15 goals in a single Serie A season.&nbsp;

<h2>- Mertens century -</h2>

Atalanta bounced back after their Champions League exit to Real Madrid with a 2-0 win at Hellas Verona to consolidate fourth place, equal on points with Juventus.

Ruslan Malinovskyi scored the first from the penalty spot after a Federico Dimarco handball in the 33rd minute in Verona.

Duvan Zapata added a second before the break, after an earlier effort hit the post, the Colombian sweeping the ball past Marco Silvestri into an empty net, as Verona fell to a third successive defeat to stay ninth.

Atalanta are two points ahead of Napoli who beat Champions League rivals Roma 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to a Dries Mertens brace.

Mertens curled in the opener from a free-kick in the 27th minute and nodded in a Matteo Politano cross seven minutes later to bring his tally to 100 Serie A goals since joining Napoli in 2013.

Roma are the only Italian side left in Europe and showed signs of fatigue after their Europa League trip to Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday.

"Perhaps we don't have the mentality required to compete against these sort of teams," said Roma coach Paulo Fonseca, whose side have struggled for results against Serie A's top teams.&nbsp;

"In the first half the team looked to be without courage ... When we are afraid of losing, or afraid of playing, it all becomes a lot harder."

Lazio recovered from their Champions League elimination to Bayern Munich with a 1-0 win at Udinese thanks to an Adam Marusic goal.

Simone Inzaghi's side are seventh but now just one point behind their city rivals with a game in hand.

Juve's title hopes rocked as Milan keep pressure on Inter

Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke the 500-mark for career club goals with a brace on Sunday as AC Milan held top spot in Serie A with a 4-0 win over lowly Crotone.

"It's difficult to be surprised by Ibrahimovic," said Milan coach Stefano Pioli of the 39-year-old who is powering his team's bid for a first 'Scudetto' since 2011.

Milan moved back two points in front of city rivals Inter Milan who had pulled ahead after a 2-0 win over Fiorentina on Friday.

Champions Juventus are a further five back in third after beating Roma 2-0 on Saturday.&nbsp;

The capital side dropped to fourth equal on points with city rivals Lazio who beat Cagliari 1-0.

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring on the half hour at the San Siro after combining with Rafael Leao for his 500th strike with nine different clubs.

And the Swede brought his tally to 501 in the 64th minute, finishing off a Theo Hernandez cross for his 83rd Milan goal.

"To hold up at this level means you're an exceptional professional and he's helped by a physique that few have," continued Pioli.&nbsp;

"He's a champion, an athlete who has great motivation, he takes care of his body scrupulously. Sometimes he's tired, but he never fails."

Ante Rebic turned the game into a comprehensive win with a quick-fire brace of his own past Crotone goalkeeper Alex Cordaz.

The Croatian headed in a Hakan Calhanoglu corner in the 69th minute and then seconds later turned in a rebound after Cordaz kept out an Ibrahimovic strike.

"The Scudetto? The decisive matches will come later, now we have to withstand all the pressures which is a privilege to have," continued Pioli.

"The top seven are all capable of fighting for the title and the first four places.&nbsp;

"It's not yet time to look too much at the table, a challenging period will come with many matches and the Europa League is about to start again."

<h2>- 'My job is to score' -</h2>

Ibrahimovic showed his incredible form 22 years after making his professional debut for Swedish club Malmo, scoring his first goal in October 1999.

"It means that I have scored a few goals in my career," said the Swede, who was substituted off with 15 minutes to go.&nbsp;

"The important thing is to continue to help the team in the best possible way. My job is to score and create situations to score."

Ibrahimovic reached the landmark in 825 games, having played for three Serie A sides -- Juventus, Inter and Milan -- as well as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Barcelona, Ajax and Los Angeles Galaxy.

He has now scored 396 league goals, 57 in European competitions and 48 in cup games.

The former Sweden striker returned to Milan in January 2020 and has scored 27 goals in 37 appearances since.

He has scored 14 league goals in 11 games this season having been sidelined with coronavirus and injury, two short of top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 36 on Friday.

With 116 games for Sweden and 62 goals, Ibrahimovic is the all-time leading scorer for the Swedish national team.

<h2>- Immobile lifts Lazio -</h2>

In Rome, Ciro Immobile scored the only goal as Lazio pushed their winning run to six league games to move ahead of Napoli and level with Roma.

Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno kept the relegation-threatened Sardinians in the game for an hour, denying an Immobile header, and getting down to clear a Luis Alberto volley.

But he could do nothing to stop Immobile latching on to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's nodded cross with the Italian finishing off with his left foot.

Last season's European golden shoe winner has now 14 goals this campaign, equal with Ibrahimovic and Inter's Romelu Lukaku.

In the Emilia-Romagna derby, Musa Barrow scored twice within the first half hour with Riccardo Orsolini adding a third in injury time as Bologna got back winning 3-0 against Parma.

Bologna move up to 12th with Parma stuck 19th.

'Exceptional' Ibrahimovic breaks 500-goal mark to keep AC Milan top

Federico Chiesa scored a brace as Juventus inflicted a first league defeat this season on Serie A leaders AC Milan, ending their 27-match unbeaten run with a 3-1 win on Wednesday.

Stefano Pioli's side maintained their one-point advantage over city rivals Inter Milan who missed a chance to go top with a 2-1 loss at Sampdoria.

AC Milan had been unbeaten since before the coronavirus lockdown last March, with a run of 12 matches without defeat to complete last season where they finished sixth, and 15 games this campaign.

But Chiesa, who joined from Fiorentina last October, bagged his first brace for the champions, scoring on 18 and 62 minutes in the San Siro with Weston McKennie getting a third with quarter of an hour to go.

"This defeat hurts," said Pioli.

"If there is an opponent against whom we have suffered it is Juventus, who have won the Scudetto for nine years in a row.

"But understanding how bad you feel after a defeat will also help us grow."

The hosts, chasing their first 'Scudetto' since 2011, had been hit hours before kick-off with the news that forward Ante Rebic and midfielder Rade Krunic had tested positive for Covid-19.

The absence of the pair was a blow for the side already without key players including their injured top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic for an eighth league game.

Juventus pair Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado were also out with coronavirus as the champions moved up to fourth, seven points behind Milan, but having played a game less.

"I saw the spirit of a team that wants to lead and win," said Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo.&nbsp;

"This match was crucial for us."

Chiesa has come into his own for Pirlo's side who had been dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo's goals this campaign.

Paulo Dybala provided the assists for both Chiesa's goals.

Chiesa rattled the woodwork minutes before picking up a clever Dybala back-heel flick to finish off after 18 minutes.

Rafael Leao send through for Davide Calabria to grab the equaliser four minutes before the break to keep Milan's hopes alive.

But Dybala again teeded up Chiesa to rifle in the second before the pair were replaced by McKennie and Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski provided the pull back for McKennie to seal the victory after 76 minutes.

<h2>- Inter miss out in Genoa -</h2>

Inter's eight-match winning streak came to an halt earlier under the rain in Genoa.

Alexis Sanchez missed an early penalty for Antonio Conte's side who were tripped up by goals from former Inter players Antonio Candreva and Keita Balde.

"I'm sorry because I think we deserved something more. Lady luck was not on our side today," said Conte after their second league defeat this season after Milan last October.

Inter's leading scorer Romelu Lukaku started on the bench as the forward recovers from a muscular problem.

Sanchez started in the Belgian's place but missed the chance to give the visitors an early advantage with Emil Audero saving a penalty.

But Candreva made no mistake from the spot after 22 minutes, sending Samir Handanovic the wrong way after Samp were awarded a penalty for a Nicolo Barella handball.

Keita Balde added a second after 38 minutes following good work from Mikkel Damsgaard, the Danish winger sending the Senegalese forward through to coolly finish.

Lukaku came off the bench with just over an hour gone, two minutes before Stefan de Vrij's header from a Marcelo Brozovic corner reduced the deficit for the visitors.

Third-placed Roma closed the gap on Inter to three points, with a 3-1 win at bottom side Crotone with Borja Mayoral scoring twice and Henrikh Mkhitaryan adding a third from the penalty spot.

Sassuolo beat Genoa 2-1 to move fifth ahead of Napoli who fell to a shock defeat by the same scoreline to 10-man Spezia, for their first loss in their newly-named Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

"I don't know how it's possible to lose a game like this, we had many shots on goal, I had a dozen myself," said Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne.

"I'm seeing a schizophrenic Napoli," blasted coach Gennaro Gattuso.

"It's not just bad luck, this season we're throwing away incredible matches. And that makes me furious."

Seventh-placed Atalanta beat Parma 3-0 to stay ahead of Lazio who got back winning 2-1 against Fiorentina.

Federico Chiesa scored a brace as Juventus inflicted a first league defeat this season on Serie A leaders AC Milan, ending their 27-match unbeaten run with a 3-1 win on Wednesday.

Juventus end AC Milan's 27-game unbeaten run in Serie A

Italian giants AC Milan has announced that two of their players (Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday ahead of the Serie A clash against Juventus.

Both the players featured in the Sunday away win against Benevento. They underwent molecular swab tests on Tuesday before the home clash with the Italian champions.

“The asymptomatic players remained in isolation at home where a second control swab was taken today. The health authorities were promptly informed,” a club statement read.

“All team members were subjected to a further test today with negative results.”

AC Milan stay on top of the Serie A after being unbeaten this season. However, the team will be without suspended midfielder Sandro Tonali and injured players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ismael Bennacer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Matteo Gabbia.

Juventus wing-backs Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro also tested positive for COVID-19 before the game, where Andrea Pirlo's side will look to reduce a 10-point gap to Milan.

Romelu Lukaku scored from the penalty spot as Inter Milan battled past title rivals Napoli 1-0 on Wednesday to move one point behind Serie A leaders and city rivals AC Milan who were held at Genoa.

Defending champions Juventus sit three points behind Inter after Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in a 1-1 home draw with Atalanta.

Napoli -- who played the final quarter of an hour a man down after captain Lorenzo Insigne was sent off -- drop to fourth, a further point adrift.

Insigne saw red for arguing with the referee after goalkeeper David Ospina fouled Inter's Matteo Darmian to concede the crucial spot-kick.

"Only in Italy players are thrown out for this stuff," fumed Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso, blasting "a dubious penalty".

Napoli also saw club record scorer Dries Mertens limp off with an ankle injury in the first half.

Lukaku stepped up to slot in on 73 minutes for his 10th league goal this season, joining Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the top of the Serie A goalscoring chart.

Inter could also thank goalkeeper Samir Handanovic&nbsp;for their clean sheet, denying Insigne and Giovanni Di Lorenzo late on.

For Antonio Conte's Inter it was a fifth consecutive league win as they target a first Scudetto since 2010, with their European hopes now over.

"It was a painful victory that can do us good," said Conte.&nbsp;"These are three important points because against a rival and a great team like Napoli they are worth double."

AC Milan, playing a fourth consecutive league game without the injured Ibrahimovic, came from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw as Mattia Destro scored a double for Genoa.

The Italian striker tapped in a rebound after Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma denied Eldor Shomurodov just after the break.

Five minutes later, Davide Calabria's long-range effort pulled Milan level before Destro headed in a second on the hour.

But French defender Pierre Kalulu nodded in from close range to rescue a second consecutive draw for Milan, who stay unbeaten in Serie A since March and are looking to deny Juventus a 10th straight league triumph this season.

"We had six players out and had to grit our teeth but those who played proved to be up to par," said coach Stefano Pioli.&nbsp;

"Our club has not been in the Champions League for many years and that is our goal."

&nbsp;

<h2>- Sixth Juventus stalemate -</h2>

&nbsp;

In Turin, unbeaten Juventus were held for the sixth time in Serie A this term.

Federico Chiesa curled in a powerful shot to put Juventus ahead before the half-hour mark.

But Atalanta hit back with Remo Freuler grabbing the equaliser 12 minutes into the second half, shortly after captain Papu Gomez came off the bench.

The build-up to the game had been overshadowed by tensions between coach Gian Piero Gasperini and Gomez, left out of their last two league games amid speculation he could leave the Bergamo club in January.

Ronaldo, who had fired over the target in the fifth minute, had a rare penalty miss after an hour following a Hans Hateboer foul on Chiesa.

The Portuguese striker's weak effort was easily saved by Atalanta keeper Pierluigi Gollini.

Spaniard Alvaro Morata had missed a golden chance after 12 minutes, sending a weak back-heel flick wide in front of an open goal.

At the other end of the pitch, Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saved a Cristian Romero header with a quarter of an hour to go.

"You have to take these games home," said Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo.

"We had many opportunities and we weren't able to close it. When you leave the game in the balance anything can happen."

Atalanta, who also held Juventus the last time they played in Turin last July, are eighth, 10 points behind AC Milan, after a slow start to the campaign.

"It's a great result," said Gasperini. "We were very good, at one point we were convinced of winning it.&nbsp;

"We played with personality against a team that are one of the favourites for the Scudetto."

Fifth-placed Sassuolo drew 1-1 at Fiorentina, whose winless run stretched to seven games.

Inter close gap on leaders AC Milan, Ronaldo penalty miss stalls Juve

The fans returned in England, the top-of-the-table clash in Germany ended in a draw, La Liga has an unfamiliar look and AC Milan are five points clear in Serie A.

AFP looks at five talking points from around the continent this weekend.

<h2>- The sound of a few fans clapping -</h2>

Fans were allowed back into games in the Britain for the first time since March, but only in those regions where the latest coronavirus wave is deemed less serious.

That meant 2,000 fans at the three Premier League games in London and at Liverpool.

"When we came out we all had goosebumps," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.&nbsp;

Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea all responded with comfortable victories to remain in that order at the top of the table.&nbsp;

The fans did their best to make a noise. "You'll Never Walk Alone", poignant in the circumstances, rang out at Anfield as Liverpool beat Wolves.&nbsp;

"It was very emotional, after 10 months without that it is a wonderful, wonderful sign," said Klopp. "I never knew it could feel that good."

But there was also a reminder of English football's troubled history with its fan base as masked supporters at second-tier Millwall booed as players took a knee before kick-off.

<h2>- Atletico profit -</h2>

In recent years, Atletico Madrid have been the third contender in a two-team league. Their La Liga title in 2014 marks the only interruption in the Real Madrid-Barcelona duopoly since 2005.

But Atletico moved to the top this weekend after beating Valladolid 2-0 on Saturday and helped by the failings of others.

The immediate victims were Real Sociedad, who started the weekend in first but deprived of injured striker Mikel Oyarzabal could only draw 0-0 at Alaves.

But Atletico are profiting from the inconsistency of Real Madrid, who reversed a series of bad results by eking out a 1-0 win at Sevilla to stay fourth and the Liga meltdown at Barcelona who lost 2-1 at Cadiz and are ninth.

Atletico meanwhile are settling into a menacing groove. They have won seven straight in La Liga and conceded just two goals in 10 league games.

However, coach Diego Simeone is not prepared to talk about titles. "In football we live for what is going to happen in the next week," he said.

<h2>- Rivals keep heat on PSG -</h2>

Five points separate the top six in France, where defending champions Paris Saint-Germain find themselves under increasing pressure from in-form Lyon and Marseille, as well as Lille.&nbsp;

Late goals from Moise Kean and Kylian Mbappe, his 100th for the club, secured a 3-1 win at Montpellier to keep PSG top after they were in danger of going three Ligue 1 games without a victory for the first time since April 2019.&nbsp;

Lyon and Lille will both have the chance to test PSG's mettle later this month while Marseille, despite their woeful Champions League campaign, could supplant their bitter rivals in first place by winning their two games in hand.

<h2>- Do AC Milan dare to dream? -</h2>

AC Milan are doggedly holding onto their five-point lead at the top of Serie A after beating Sampdoria 2-1 on Sunday and their success-starved supporters might finally be starting to dream.

Franck Kessie's penalty just before half-time and Samu Castillejo's goal in the 77th minute were enough for the seven-time European champions to keep local rivals Inter Milan firmly in second place. They didn't even need the absent Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan dominated Italian and European football in the 1990s, winning five Serie A titles in eight years with a sparkling team including Marco van Basten and Ruud Gullit under the ownership of Silvio Berlusconi.

But their last Italian title dates back to 2011.

<h2>- Leverkusen going under the radar -</h2>

Peter Bosz's Bayer Leverkusen have quietly emerged as the closest challengers to Bayern Munich in Germany, despite the sale of Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland.&nbsp;

Leverkusen are one of two unbeaten teams in the Bundesliga, along with Wolfsburg, and made it six wins in seven with Sunday's 3-0 defeat of hapless Schalke, leaving them a point adrift of Bayern.

They have largely relied on the goals of Argentine striker Lucas Alario, although had to make do without their top scorer this weekend due to injury.

Instead, Patrik Schick, the club's headline summer signing, scored his first goal since returning from a spell of his own on the sidelines.

Fans back, Atletico, AC Milan: European football talking points

Tottenham Hotspur slumped to a shock 1-0 Europa League defeat at Royal Antwerp on Thursday, while Serie A leaders AC Milan eased to victory over Sparta Prague.

Jose Mourinho's Spurs failed to create a single chance of note in a lifeless display, with Gareth Bale, who rejoined the club on loan from Real Madrid in the close-season, lasting less than an hour before being substituted.

The surprise win takes Antwerp to the top of the early Group J table after their opening 2-1 victory at Ludogorets last week.

The Belgian outfit are playing in the main stage of a European competition for the first time since a UEFA Cup first-round loss to Newcastle United in 1994.

The hosts took the lead just before the half-hour mark, with Dieumerci Mbokani robbing makeshift Spurs centre-back Ben Davies before feeding Israeli forward Lior Refaelov to drill a fierce shot into the corner.

Antwerp wasted a golden chance to double the lead in the 54th minute, as Congolese striker Mbokani contrived to fire the ball over an open net when only three yards from goal.

Mourinho threw on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for Bale and Dele Alli in search of an equaliser, but again it was their opponents who should have scored when Norwegian wing-back Simen Jukleroed ran clean through on goal and blazed wildly over the bar.

Spurs dominated possession but never seriously threatened, and the Antwerp players were able to celebrate a famous triumph in an empty stadium.

Milan made it two wins from two in Group H with a 3-0 success over Sparta, despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing a first-half penalty.

Goals from Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao and on-loan Manchester United wing-back Diogo Dalot saw Milan extend their unbeaten run to 24 matches in all competitions.

Stefano Pioli's side sit two points clear of Lille at the top of the group, after the French outfit fought back from two goals down to grab a 2-2 home draw with Celtic.

Jamie Vardy netted a spot-kick as Leicester City made it back-to-back victories in Group G with a 2-1 win at AEK Athens, while Paco Alcacer scored a late double as Villarreal saw off Qarabag 3-1 in Group I.
