During the hearing, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud made a profound argument saying that there is no bar in Indian legislation from having any form of ceremony and therefore, the larger question is about legal recognition of the marriage.

"In other words, suppose a same sex couple says that we're inviting a group of 25 friends and we will have a marriage ceremony. In law, there is no prohibition. You also agreed to that. Somebody may have reception, ceremony," CJI Chandrachud said.&nbsp;

The bench comprised Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, S Ravindra Bhat, Hima Kohli, and PS Narasimha.

Upon CJI's argument, Justice Kohli submitted, "What you're saying is that there could be a right to cohabit and give it a name of relationship which is sanctified but that will have no obligations on state to recognise it statutorily."

CJI DY Chandrachud urged Justice Kohli to go step by step on the argument. "Once you recognise that there is a right to cohabit, then it is the obligation of the state that all social impact of cohabitation has legal recognition."&nbsp;

The arguments also centered briefly around the notice provision in marriages in general. For context, the Supreme Court on 20 April said the Special Marriage Act's requirements for a 30-day advance notification of desire to marry were deemed to be deeply patriarchal and to subject vulnerable couples to societal "invasion."

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta arguing in favour of the Indian government said that if same-sex marriages are provided a legal status petitioners' arguments could one day be raised to defend incestuous relationships.

"Visualise a situation, when a person is attracted to those persons who are mentioned in prohibited relationships. Incest not uncommon in the world and world over it is prohibited...Suppose a person is attracted to his sister, can they say we are consenting adults, we're entering into activities privately and we claim our right of autonomy, choice. Based on that very argument can someone not challenge this definition (of prohibited degrees)? Why this restriction? Who are you to decide with whom?" SG said in the court during the hearing.

Responding over this Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud remarked, "That will be far-fetched." "We used to treat even this as far-fetched," the SG replied.

CJI said, "Sexual orientation or your autonomy as an individual can never be exercised in all aspects of marriage including the entry into marriage, the prohibited relationships, the grounds on which marriage can be dissolved...these are all subject to regulation by law. So these are very far fetched for anybody to even argue before us that orientation is so absolute that I can therefore commit an act of incest. No court will ever countenance this."

The petitioners have so far presented evidence to the court in support of marriage equality, arguing for the right to equality as well as a number of other problems, such as the importance of family.&nbsp;

This afternoon, the court started hearing the government's arguments. Last week, the government attempted to dismiss the petitioners' demands as a "urban, elitist" notion.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&amp;K) government inaugurated secure accommodation/ flats for the Kashmiri pandit community in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Bandipora districts, Shopian district of south Kashmir and Ganderbal district of central Kashmir today. The Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha inaugurated the accommodation.&nbsp;

The accommodation has been built under the Prime Minister’s package. Over 1200 flats were inaugurated by the LG of J&amp;K today. Around 300 flats are being constructed at a new migrant colony in Khwaja Bagh area of Baramulla in North Kashmir at a cost of Rs 40.22 crore rupees (51,39,468.60&nbsp;US$). Work on most of the flats have been completed while the rest of the flats are said to be completed within sometime.

“Around 576 flats have been completed for the Kashmiri Pandit employees and we are trying our best to complete the 2000 flats by the end of this year. The Kashmiri community wants to live together and peacefully, we are trying to help solve the logistical problems of the Kashmiri Pandits as soon as possible,” said Manoj Sinha, LG JK.&nbsp;

The government also inaugurated another secure accommodation for Kashmiri pandit employees located at Sumbul area of Bandipora in north Kashmir. Officials said that alongside the safe and secure accommodations, steps are being taken to provide other necessary facilities to Kashmiri pandit migrant employees to live in these colonies.

The J&amp;K administration is constructing the safe accommodations in all 10 districts of Kashmir valley, for Kashmiri pandit migrant employees working in the valley. The decision of constructing more accommodation was taken in view of the spurt in target killings of Kashmiri pandits in Kashmir.&nbsp;

“It's a big development, it’s after 13 years these accommodations are completed, and the government has promised to the Kashmiri pandit community these flats and finally have been finished. We thank the LG and DC madam for the project. A lot of employees are living on rent, and some are not even earning that much, so this will help them a lot,“ said a local Kashmiri Pandit.&nbsp;

The migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees have also expressed satisfaction over the inauguration of newly constructed safe accommodations today in Bandipora and Baramulla areas of the valley.&nbsp;

The missile range is between 1000-2000 kilometres. The 'Akash NG': The ‘Akash’ meaning sky, is the name of an indigenous Indian surface-to-air missile. This new generation Akash missile known as Akash-NG is a successor to the Akash One series with improvements in kill and range. It is built to boost the Indian Air Force defence system and can intercept high manoeuvring aerial threats like fighter jets, cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles. Vietnam has been closely monitoring the development of the Akash-NG and is already eager to procure it. They are currently using the Israeli SPYDER-SR-MR. The Brahmos Sequels: Coming next in the Brahmos series is the Brahmos’ next generation, which will be half the weight (approx. 1.33 tonnes) of Brahmos and smaller in size. It is being developed for LCA Tejas and would significantly bolster the combat capability of the aircraft. It will have a range of 290 kilometres and a speed of Mach 3.5. Then there is the Brahmos 2 which is coming up as well – it will be India’s Hypersonic version of the Brahmos that will have a range of 600 kilometres with a speed of Mach 8. It will be able to strike at a distance of over 160 kilometres. Trials are going on and a sneak peek of the missile was given by the Indian Air Force on its 90th Air Force Day. RUDRAM: The next-generation anti-radiation missile Rudram-1 has been successfully tested. It is used to search and destroy enemy radar locations. Now, Rudram-2 is being developed by India with a range of 300kms. It will be air-launched and initially test-fired from the Su-30MKI. The Amogha ATGM: The man-portable Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), Amogha-III has successfully been tested in a field firing recently. It is the latest 3rd generation ATGM which boasts a fire-and-forget capability, requiring no external intervention following launch. It is smokeless and has a range of up to 2,500 metres. It has both top and direct attack modes. There are also talks of a K-6 missile with a range of 12000kms under-development in India which has already made the West insecure because they just can’t understand why India needs to prepare for a target beyond China. Zero Shadow Day is a celestial phenomenon that takes place twice a year, where the position of the sun is directly overhead because of which no shadow gets cast on the surface of the Earth. So, at 12:17 pm, no shadow will be cast by any vertical object in Bengaluru.&nbsp;

On Zero Shadow Day, the sun moves to its highest point in the sky which results in the reduction of the shadow's length. When a person stands on this shadow, their own shadow becomes invisible, hence it's called "Zero Shadow".

''For people living between +23.5 and -23.5 degrees latitude, the Sun's declination will be equal to their latitude twice - once during Uttarayan and once during Dakshinayan. On these two days, the Sun will be exactly overhead at noon and will not cast a shadow of an object on the ground,'' noted the Astronomical Society of India.

“This happens for places between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn and is on April 25 and 18 August for Bengaluru,” stated the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.

Describing the phenomenon, astrophysicist Debiprosad Duari said, “People and any object, all around the world, staying between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn lose their shadows, though momentarily, twice a year. These two moments are called zero shadow moments. "

During the zero shadow days every year, students as well as astrophiles who are present between the two Tropics erect vertical objects and poles, and sometimes even stand outside to witness the cosmic phenomena with their own eyes. No special instruments or equipment is needed to witness the no-shadow moment.

Bengaluru will observe the next Shadow Day on August 18. The dates when Zero Shadow Day will occur keep changing on the basis of the location and time zone.
