The AP voters gave a sweeping mandate to Jagan for both state and the Centre, decimating chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Jaganmohan Reddy's YSRCP has won 151 Assembly seats out of the total 175 seats of Andhra Pradesh&nbsp;and 22 of its Lok Sabha seats. Sources said that Reddy is likely to take oath as CM on May 30.</p>

<p>"Ravali Jagan...Kavaali Jagan," ( Jagan should come...we want Jagan ) was the famous slogan coined by his supporters in Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party ( YSRCP ) in Andhra Pradesh in the run-up to 2019 General Elections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Andhra Pradesh went to polls for 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly constituencies on April 11.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, with this development, the worst political nightmare of outgoing Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has come true.</p>

<p>It's no secret that YS Jaganmohan Reddy wanted Chief Minister's post right after his father and former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh Late YS Rajashekar Reddy died in a helicopter crash on September 2, 2009.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"From 2014 till we broke our alliance with the BJP, YS Jaganmohan Reddy was only our political enemy. But we made unnecessary enemies especially out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao,'' said Lanka Dinakar, the TDP official spokesperson.</p>

<p>"Another biggest blunder was teaming up with the Congress party. Our party was born out of the opposition of Congress party and they were always our prime political adversary and people of Andhra Pradesh, we are still bitter about Congress for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. By teaming up with the Congress we made a terrible mistake," Dinakar added.</p>

<p>&nbsp;After tasting bitter defeat in 2014 elections and when the number of MLAs switched over to TDP, Jagan changed track and formulated better strategies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His "Padayatra" wherein he walked 3468 km across length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh from November 2017 to January 2019 was one giant leap towards reaching the Chief Minister's chair. His padayatra was a huge success wherein people thronged to see and hear him. YSRCP supporters locally and from abroad helped him in getting closer to people.</p>

<p>One of Jagan supporter K Lokesh Reddy came as far from Melbourne in Australia and met him along with 17 of his friends from Australia stayed in Andhra Pradesh for three months from starting January 10 this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Jagan Anna ( as he is popularly called by his supporters ) made a sincere effort through his Padayatra to convince people that they can completely trust him and he will genuinely solve their issues,'' informs Lokesh Reddy, who is busy in party's celebrations in Vijayawada.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"People were fed up with Naidu and his false promises and saw through his lies especially on the Special Category Status issue. We ( YSRCP ) released our manifesto with just two pages wherein we have promised what we can deliver and the people were convinced," said Lokesh.</p>

<p>Though YSRCP won with huge numbers both in Assembly and Parliament, Jagan's road ahead as Chief Minister will not be smooth according to political analysts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The Andhra Pradesh economy is in shambles and Jagan has to walk on a tight rope on many fronts to live up to the voters' expectations,'' said PL Vishweshwara Rao, former Dean, Department of Communication &amp; Journalism, Osmania University.</p>

<p>Andhra Pradesh politics in the next five years- will be keenly watched and surely, as seen in many Telugu potboilers, there will be a lot of action.</p>

<p>Irani defeated the sitting Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 55,120 votes, uprooting the Congress president from his family bastion. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi had defeated Irani by 1,07,903 votes.</p>

<p>Irani had cultivated a strong voter base in the constituency with her numerous visits and using central development schemes in past five years which helped her inn reversal of fortune.</p>

<p>In Odisha, the chief of Congress' state unit Niranjan Patnaik announced resignation from his post. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;"I have sent my resignation to AICC President (Rahul Gandhi) owning moral responsibility for the party's poor show in both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state," Patnaik said.</p>

<p>While the Congress won only one Lok Sabha seat and nine assembly seats in Odisha, Patnaik also faced defeat in the assembly polls.</p>

<p>Admitting that the Congress had failed to win the confidence of the people, Patnaik said, "The party needs to take concrete steps to set the organisation in proper shape by getting rid of opportunists and attracting youths into its fold."</p>

<p>He said that a committee, headed by senior leader Narasingha Mishra, has been set up to ascertain the reason behind the drubbing suffered by the Congress in Odisha.</p>

<p>The vote share of the BJP and the Congress increased by 3.56 and 3.84 percentage points respectively.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The BSP, CPI, CPM saw a fall in vote share by 1.27, 0.12 and 0.09 percentage points respectively as compared to 2014, according to EC data.</p>

It is their responsibility to ensure that they would work for the welfare of Tamil Nadu, and consider the state on equal footing with the ones that they have won."</p>

<p>Clarifying his party's stance on certain projects of the central government that faced opposition in Tamil Nadu, he said, "We are not against development, but we don't want such projects on fertile agricultural lands."</p>

<p>While Haasan's party drew a blank in the polls, they made a statement by exceeding one lakh votes in few constituencies and by coming third in few others. He said, "We have done well given that we are a new party and did not establish ourselves after splitting from any other political outfit. The main obstacles for our party was widespread poverty and money distribution in the rural pockets."</p>

<p>In some areas we secured 12 per cent vote share and our average vote share is nearly five per cent, Haasan added.</p>

<p>Expressing happiness over his party's decision to go alone without any alliance with major parties, Haasan said that analysts and advisors have foreseen a bright future for the fledgling party.</p>

Lok Sabha election result 2019: UP Congress chief Raj Babbar sends resignation to Rahul Gandhi

<p>The trends of the ruling party's leads were in sync with the exit polls, most of which predicted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would be on course to retain power for a second term.</p>

<p>DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in Tamil Nadu appeared headed for a clean sweep as it led in 35 of the 38 Lok Sabha seats in the state Thursday.</p>

<p>The ruling AIADMK, which had registered a landslide in the 2014 elections under the leadership of its supremo late Jayalalithaa, is trailing in most of the 20 seats it contested as also its allies, including the BJP.</p>

<p>The AIADMK-led NDA is ahead in only three constituencies, according to the latest Election Commission trends.</p>

<p>As counting of the ballot for 542 Lok Sabha seats for the world's largest democracy is underway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his way to be the first non-Congress prime minister to return to power.</p>

<p>Riding on a massive Modi wave sweeping through most parts of India, the BJP was set to return to power Thursday as it led in 292 seats while the Congress trailed far behind with 51, according to trends released by the Election Commission for all 542 seats that went to polls.</p>

<p>If the trends stay until final results, the BJP would have improved on its 2014 performance when it had won 282 seats on its own in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Adding the seats won by its allies, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance could win 343 seats, up from 336 in 2014.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the latest trends from the Election Commission of India, the BJP alone is leading on 269 seats. The Congress is ahead on 56 seats.</p>
