He further questioned if the farmers in northwest India and Pakistan have been escaping detection of fires by the satellite.&nbsp;

Taking to X on October 25, Jethva said, "Are farmers in NW India and Pakistan avoiding satellite overpass time for stubble burning? A close eyeballing of GEO-KOMPSAT 2A geostationary satellite images shows localised puffs/clouds of smoke in the late afternoon. Needs ground checking."

He also shared a satellite image of stubble burning taken in the afternoon and wondered who had taught them to change the pattern.&nbsp;

Speaking to The Times Of India, Jethva said that the fire activities in Punjab are being carried out in the late afternoon.

"Intentionally, avoiding NASA-NOAA satellite overpass time, which falls around 1.30 to 2 pm IST, could be one reason.... The shortwave infrared radiation data and imagery from Korea's geostationary satellite GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK2A) show fire activities concentrated during late afternoon hours past the Nasa-NOAA satellite overpass time," he said.&nbsp;

<h2>Delhi chokes as stubble burning continues&nbsp;</h2>

The Aqua satellite of Nasa and the Suomi-NPP satellite of Nasa-NOAA flies over India and Pakistan from 1.30 pm to 2 pm IST. Another Korean satellite, which is in geostationary orbit, has been surveying the same region every 10 minutes.&nbsp;

WION: What is&nbsp;expected from the G20 summit?

Kenneth da Nóbrega: Three priorities. First, fighting hunger and poverty. Second, fighting climate change. Third, making progress in terms of promoting the reform of global institutions of multilateral governance. These are the three priorities of the Brazilian presidency.

WION: Speaking of challenges in&nbsp;dealing with hunger, can you give details about the alliance which is being launched

Kenneth da Nóbrega: As a matter of fact, we can already speak of results achieved by the Brazilian presidency. Of course, we're still to agree on the joint statement. The presidency will end on December 1. But in July, a task force was launched to fight hunger and poverty. Basically, this task force is a platform where you can find good examples of programs to alleviate hunger and poverty, you can find also cooperation, offers of cooperation in order to adapt those successful programmes to other countries, other developing countries. And third, you have a finance pillar in terms, of course, if you visit the platform as a developing country, and you select a programme which has been implemented, let's say, in India or in Brazil, and then you talk with a specialist in terms of adapting this programme to your country. And then you want some financing. So, the platform offers these three pillars. The Climate Change Task Force is mobilisation against climate change. It has two pillars. One is the reset action pillar, other is the reset financing pillar. The reset action pillar is a locus where you can find expertise to devise national plans to fight climate change, structured plans, not just programmes. And of course, the resetting finance pillar is to develop new financial mechanisms to help developing countries to fight climate change.

WION: How has the Indian presidency of G20 helped, or has been a template for the Brazilian presidency for the G20 Summit?

Kenneth da Nóbrega: Okay, if I focus on the negotiation of the joint statement that India so successfully negotiated last year, the fact that you could manage to reach consensus in those paragraphs which are about geopolitical scenarios. Of course, geopolitical hotspots of the world, the fact that you achieved that, paved the way for Brazil to negotiate successfully. The call for action for the reform of global governance, and governance institutions, and the fact that you managed, managed to pull off this agreement on geopolitical issues in your joint statement was key for us to build &amp; to achieve, also some progress in this area.

WION: How do you view India, Brazil, and South Africa as developing nations, leading the G20 through the Troika?

Kenneth da Nóbrega: Yes, I think that continuity is a keyword. I think that the Brazilian presidency, to a considerable extent, is a continuity of your G20 presidency, in the sense of giving more legitimacy to the G20. A key result in that area was the accession of the African Union to the G20. Another key aspect of continuity is making sure that the interests and the priorities of the global south countries remain on the agenda of the G20, of course, alongside the priorities of the developed world. And then you want some financing. So, the platform offers these three pillars. The Climate Change Task Force is mobilisation against climate change. It has two pillars. One is the reset action pillar, other is the reset financing pillar. The fog is likely to reduce in the evening, as per the weather forecast.

Dense to very dense fog is also expected in other North Indian regions including Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar in the early morning and late night hours of Monday&nbsp;(Nov&nbsp;18). These weather conditions are likely to affect the visibility in these regions.

According to the weather department, temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius in Northwestern parts of the country over the next five days.

The launch of GSAT-20(also known as GSAT-N2) on SpaceX's Falcon9 rocket is scheduled for 18:31 UTC, November 18th, from Cape Canaveral, Florida, Dr. S.Somanath, Chief of the Indian Space Agency ISRO told WION. As per Indian Standard Time, this launch will take place at 00:01hrs on 19th November, Tuesday. As is the standard practice in the space launch business, the backup launch date and time have also been chosen- 19th November, 09:33UTC (15:03hrs on Tuesday, as per Indian Standard Time). GSAT-20 and its purpose, capabilities Built by the Indian space agency ISRO, the 4.7ton(4,700kg) GSAT-20(also known as GSAT-N2) is a high-capacity communication satellite that will offer broadband services. Meant to circle 36,000 km above the earth's surface, GSAT-20 would be able to cover the entire Indian mainland and also the Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep archipelagos. The satellite is fully owned, operated and funded by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Indian Government-run Space agency ISRO. Presently, NSIL owns and operates 11 communication satellites that are in orbit. GSAT-20 will be the twelfth in the series of NSIL-owned satellites. According to NSIL, GSAT-20 is a high-throughput satellite that operates in the Ka-band of the spectrum. The bulk of the 48 Gbps capacity on board the satellite had been secured by Indian service providers. However, the names of these firms have not been revealed. The reusable nature of the rocket ensures that a significant portion of launch cost is reduced when compared to expendable rockets (where the used stages of the rocket are ditched at sea or fall over vast uninhabited tracts of land). Notably, Falcon 9 is the smallest among the fleet of SpaceX rockets. The heavier rockets are Falcon Heavy, the second largest rocket in operation and the under-development Starship Heavy, which is the largest rocket ever. India and SpaceX The announcement regarding the contract for launching GSAT-20 on SpaceX Falcon 9 was made in January this year. While this is the first time that an Indian Government satellite will fly on a SpaceX rocket, satellites from several Indian private firms have already flown on the Falcon 9. As part of Indo-US Space Cooperation and an agreement between the Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) and American firm Axiom, an Indian astronaut will be flown to the International Space Station(ISS) and back, next year. While Axiom is offering astronaut training and facilitating this mission, the launch would be executed by the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and the Crew Dragon spacecraft. This mission to the ISS would serve as a precursor to India's homegrown human spaceflight programme and offer real spaceflight experience to an Indian crew member. The only Indian to have flown to space in Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma (Retd), who was part of the Soviet-era Interkosmos programme.

The report notes that thermal power plants are a "year-round" pollution source.

<h2>What can be done? &nbsp;</h2>

The CREA study highlights the potential of flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) technology to reduce emissions by 67 per cent, bringing SO2 levels in NCR thermal plants down to 93 kilotonnes annually.&nbsp;

"Over 96 per cent of particulate pollution from coal-fired power plants in the NCR is secondary in nature, primarily originating from SO2. Reducing SO2 emissions can significantly decrease the secondary particulate matter load, thereby reducing the health risks associated with prolonged exposure to these particles," explained Manoj Kumar, an analyst at CREA. &nbsp;

"SO2 levels often meet the NAAQS because, once released, it quickly transforms into sulfates—secondary particles that are major components of PM2.5. These secondary particles have a longer lifetime and pose serious health risks. This hidden transformation of SO2 into harmful particles emphasises the necessity for FGD installation," he added.

While thermal plants are a significant source of pollution, vehicular emissions accounted for 15.8 per cent of Delhi’s pollution on Sunday, according to the government’s Decision Support System for Air Quality Management. Meanwhile, stubble burning spiked on Saturday, contributing 25 per cent of the city's pollution.&nbsp;

This missile has been indigenously developed by the laboratories of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad along with various other DRDO laboratories and Industry Partners.

The flight trial was carried out in the presence of senior scientists of DRDO and the Armed Forces.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Armed Forces and the Industry for the successful flight trial of the country’s first long-range hypersonic mission, and termed it a historic achievement.

In a post on X, the Defence Minister described the event as a historic moment, emphasising that this major achievement has placed India among a handful of nations with the capability to develop such advanced and critical military technologies.

On February 27, 2002, the 2002 Godhra train burning&nbsp;incident took place when some people attacked the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat.&nbsp;

The train was running from Muzaffarpur in Bihar to Ahmedabad in Gujarat and was carrying pilgrims coming back from Ayodhya.&nbsp;

Hundreds of karsevaks (religious volunteers) were travelling on the Sabarmati Express. They had attended a Purnahuti Yajna in Ayodhya which was held by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and was connected to the Ram temple movement.&nbsp;

One coach of the train, S-6, was set on fire which resulted in the death of 59 passengers.&nbsp;

Former BJP leader Anil Jha officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday (Nov. 17) in the presence of the party's national convenor&nbsp;Arvind Kejriwal.&nbsp;

"In 10 years under Arvind Kejriwal, drinking water reached every household," he added.

PM Modi to be honoured with Nigeria's 2nd highest national award, 'Grand Commander of The Order of the Niger'

Vikash Yadav,&nbsp;who last month was charged by the Department of Justice (DoJ) in the "murder-for-hire" case linked to pro-Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has been granted an unexpected break from attending his ongoing trial.

Yadav had moved an application before a Delhi court requesting an exemption from attending his case hearing, citing a threat to his life.

A Delhi court, after reviewing his application citing significant security risks, exempted him from attending hearings until February 3, 2025. His lawyer, R K Handoo, filed the plea, asserting that there was a false case registered against Yadav by the Delhi Police.&nbsp;It also claimed that Yadav's life was in jeopardy due to personal details – including his photographs and home address – being circulated publicly.

<h2>Allegations against Yadav</h2>

Yadav’s troubles first erupted in December 2023, when he was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with a kidnapping and extortion case.&nbsp;

Just weeks earlier, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) had identified him as “CC-1” (co-conspirator) in the alleged murder-for-hire plot. According to US authorities, Yadav was allegedly working for the "government of India's Cabinet Secretariat, which is a part of the Indian Prime Minister’s Office." However, the Ministry of External Affairs swiftly denied this, asserting that he was "no longer an employee of the government of India".&nbsp;

Released on bail in April after a four-month stint in Tihar Jail, Yadav, in October, was added by the FBI's New York office to its wanted list. &nbsp;

District Magistrate (DM) Avinash Kumar told reporters that the fire broke out around 10.45 pm at the Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

An electrical short circuit inside the oxygen concentrator is being cited as the likely cause of the fire. “Prima facie there is information of the death of 10 children,” the DM said. Officials say the number of dead is likely to go up.

Seven of the 10 victims have been identified, as per an official. DNA testing will be done to identify the rest if needed.

Officials said that at least 54 children were in the NICU at the time of the incident. Those who were in the outer area of the NICU were rescued, and some from the inner area were also saved. A total of 44 children are reported to have been rescued. Sixteen of those injured are reportedly in critical condition. Kumar said the more critical patients are admitted to the inner section of the NICU.

According to Divisional Commissioner Jhansi Bimal Kumar Dubey, around 30 children were in the interior section of the NICU and most of them were rescued.

On Saturday morning, parents of the surviving children gathered outside the hospital, demanding to meet them. Angry relatives are camping at the hospital after they were stopped from seeing the children. They earlier tried blocking the road were stopped.

As per reports, parents are being allowed to meet their children to avoid any confusion over the identities of the infants.&nbsp;

The district administration and concerned officials have been instructed to conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing,” he posted in Hindi on X.

The seizure happened on a day when about 700 kg of methamphetamine was seized off the coast of the Indian state of Gujarat on Thursday following a joint operation by the NCB, the Indian Navy and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The operation by the three forces led to the arrest of eight Iranian nationals.

The drugs were confiscated from the Janakpuri and Nangloi areas of the national capital on Thursday (Nov 14).
